[ Lancelot looks tired, dishevelled, but determined. He's at least free of injury now, and making an attempt to look some degree of... serious, collected. In control. He's also in the company of John Grimm, who while not exactly looking pleased probably looks a few degrees less wrecked. Lancelot takes a deep breath, and manages to force a small smile. Behind them appears to be the training yard of Caer Glaem, which is being slowly set up by a few soldiers milling around.

Lancelot's tone is quiet as he speaks, quieter than perhaps people who know him may be used to, but it is measured and firm still. Controlled. ]

For those who do not know me, my name is Lancelot. I am Field Marshal here in Caer Glaem. Those of you that do, however, may recall I ran a training session a month previous. John Grimm --

[ -- and Lancelot glances sideways to the man with him. ]

-- and I have been asked to run them as a regular effort henceforth.

[ Your go, John. ]

The both of us have experience fighting both at home and in the Drabwurld, if you’re worried about qualifications. If you don’t know how to fight, even to simply defend yourself, then we ask that you absolutely come. If you do know how to fight, we ask that you come anyway; if nothing else, this is a good chance to practice your skills and maybe learn a few new ones. The same applies if you use magic.

[ A pause and, though it looks like saying this pains him, John adds: ]

Though we do ask that you not use lethal force. Training weapons will be provided as needed, and we will have healers standing by at each session.

[ Lancelot hesitates, nods approval finally as he tries to work out other things they need to cover. Right. Be encouraging, sound like you know what you’re talking about Lancelot. You just declared yourself supposedly in charge. Try to seem like you deserve that. ]

The training yard here will be set up to allow any who wish it to come and go as they please. We will try to attend every day but if we are not on hand some of the soldiers will always be here. Even the strongest of soldiers can benefit, fighting styles are different here in the Drabwurld. The shard that sits inside your chest can be used to amplify your strength and speed, and I will happily pass on the art to any who ask. As much as that, you are of course welcome to help us train if you have the experience. We will not turn away help.

We know that many of you do not want to take part in this war. That’s fine. But the Drabwurld is dangerous, and it’s not just the war that makes it that way. We can help you learn how to keep yourself alive in the event that something happens.

[ A pause, and he glances sideways at Lancelot, then nods slightly to himself. ]

[ Lancelot offers John a tiny smile, than turns back to the locket and inclines his head a little. ]

I suppose this is round two then. Didn't scare me away. Though I still haven't properly mastered the mace yet. Getting better at not nearly knocking myself over.

I have wielded a pole weapon before, although I will readily admit it is not my strongest.

It comforts me to hear that two such wise men are training others in this place.

[Diarmuid is new and still trying to settle in to things. It does a lot to put his mind at ease when he sees this communication. So many claim to be able to train, but do not realize there is more than to training others than just teaching them to hit things with a stick.

Besides that, he has to admit, he is a little curious that one of the men is using the name of an ancient hero. Could it be he is a heroic spirit as well?]

I am well trained in the use of sword and spear, but I am always looking to learn new ways of fighting. I haven't heard anything about being able to pull power from the shards within us, though.

[Not too surprising considering he is new and there is so much to learn.]

If it is not too much trouble, I would like to learn more about this.

I don't think many people do know. I know I've been told it can happen accidentally; if nothing else, best to know how to do it on purpose so you can control it.

I would be happy to teach you, should you desire it, and likewise perhaps you can help us teach in turn -- perhaps teach us, too. I find it wise to keep learning, to keep myself from stagnating and growing arrogant.

[ She's sheepish, that's for sure. Kelsi's a tiny thing, barely 5'00", and not exactly muscular. Hell, she's a music student in University, that's not exactly athlete material. ]

What would you recommend if you've never fought before, but you're not even sure you can even lift a sword? Fighting doesn't really come as a second-nature where I come from. It's more jazz-hands and harmonies.

Not all swords are heavy, but equally you could learn with a smaller blade -- a dagger of some sort. It depends how you wish to fight. A sword is heavy and requires practice, but keeps you further away than a dagger which requires close proximity. If you do not wish to use a blade at all there are other things, of course. A bow, perhaps.

In addition to what Lancelot said, there are also ways to fight without weapons. Martial arts, you know.

I have only recently arrived but I would like to take part in this training, if possible. I can wield a sword so perhaps I might be of some assistance with those less skillful, though at the moment I still recover from some injuries.

Definitely possible. Though if you're injured, I would suggest speaking to one of the healers within the castle, or another Shardbearer who can heal.

Well, I'm a bit confident in my existing magical abilities, but the shards affect things, you say...? Well, I'm never one to turn down a resource like that, and I suppose it couldn't hurt to get used to the local climate. Are either of you trained in the arts of magic, then?

The shard in our chest can amplify our strength and speed? Would you mind teaching me? [ a beat ] In return, I can help train others. I have experience with spears, bow and arrow, and knives. At least, those are my main choice of ordinary weapons. [ Just... don't mind the fact she looks sixteen. ]
