[ At first the feed is silent, just showing a small grassy plain. Then, suddenly, there's a quiet little yip and something pops into view -- a puppy, looking more than a little excited, with wings fluttering around it's little body as it moves, barking at the camera (or, rather, who is behind the camera). Eventually it moves, with a scuffling noise, and Hermione's face pops into view, at least until she is mauled by the dog licking at her and clambering to get into her lap. She accepts it with good grace, of course, just laughing and patting at the lovely thing's head. ]

I was given this lovely boy by the faeries today and I have no idea who it's from - it must be a gift because I didn't ask for him, at least not this time. I wanted to say thank you to whoever it was because he's adorable! He's the cutest thing I've ever seen - and I've decided to call him Padfoot. 

[ She knows Harry and Ron will understand and she hopes neither of them will be put off by the nickname. She moves to shut off the feed even as the puppy goes to try and bite at the chain holding the locket in her fingertips. ]

Padfoot, no ---

I was given my boon by the faeries and - it's incredible. They've given me a book that'll teach me how to make my own network, like the lockets but only for us to use. I was wondering if you'd all tell me what kind of thing you'd want, if you want a personal network for anyone or just for you and some friends? And what you'd like it on - a watch or a necklace or something? Let me know, please?

I think so. I'm going to have to see if I can find out what breed he is and do some research - I want to take care of him properly.

I won't tell anyone except people that can be trusted. Besides, I know how to make Horcruxes and I haven't been kidnapped for that yet.

I think so. He seems to enjoy playing around so far so it's probably good that we're out and about a little more than just cooped up in the castle.

[ Still he catches that hesitation. He's gotten good at reading her and so he kind of pauuuses briefly. Way to go, Ron Weasley, you are failing at doing the one job you set out for. ]

[ It's mumbled softly before he shakes his head. ]

[ He yips, obviously happy. Hermione hums softly, looking back at Ron. ]

[ luke's a little uncertain as to where he stands with hermione. he hasn't really heard from her in a while, and after leaving a series of dumb messages on her locket, he's withdrawn himself. it's a treatment he's serving to those from home; to see it spreading to those who he had met in drabwurld, who are oblivious to who he truly is, discomforts him. but he puts on a brave face, nonetheless. being locked away in the dwarves little pocket of drabwurld is both interesting and a little boring for a kid who wants to be reckless but can't due to rules and respect and other mundane shit he never truly abides to. ]

[ padfoot. huh, interesting. he grins, ] I doubt that dog's going to spend a lot of time on his feet, Granger.

[ Hermione brightens instantly, as soon as she sees him, and she nods her head. She hasn't had much time to do anything other than help Legolas and focus on the fact that she had been kidnapped, so seeing Luke is definitely making her perk up a little. The dog mauling her with nuzzles seems to agree with her happiness and he nudges her with a cold nose on her throat. ]

It's a long story, okay? A personal name. [ She leans forward, switching the feed to private. ] I'm sorry it's been so long, Luke. I was, um. Taken?

[ it beats naming him ladon. but despite being a pusher, taking to clarisse and even percy, poking them in their open wounds just to see them hurt while he's hurting, he doesn't do it to hermione. a personal name is a personal name. if drabwurld deemed him responsible enough to look after an animal, he's pretty damn sure he'd end up calling it pine or even may. ]

[ the switch of the feed isn't lost on him. ]

[ since he had no idea — his eyebrows raise to only pinch as he recalls actually being told, but not in what he'd call the english language. he closes his eyes for a moment, as if exasperated, but it's mostly with himself. what kind of hero doesn't actually be a hero and go help a friend while they're in danger? ] You're her. [ he'd quotation mark, but he doesn't particularly feel like it. ] The bossy girl the guy with the attitude problem was looking for.

[ he shakes his head. ] Shit, I should've known. [ somehow. even when it's impossible. but he doesn't particularly associate hermione with being bossy. smart, english, a witch, even pretty — but not bossy. ]

[ Hermione wonders what anyone else would think if they came from her world and found out she had named her dog Padfoot. They would all know about the connection to Sirius, to Harry's godfather, one of the bravest men she had ever met, one of the best men she had ever known. It's in memory, of course, but she cherishes it all the same, even as the dog whines and nips at her fingertips. She's still smiling, though, as she scratches behind his eats and pets at his wings.

Finally, she looks back at the feed. She blinks, a little lost and focused for a moment before it dawns on her. Obviously someone had asked about her -- Ron, she assumes -- and she goes pink, hands shaking for a moment before she nods. ] I think so. I hope that isn't really what he said, though - I don't have an attitude problem and I'm certainly not bossy.

[ She sniffs, looking a little petulant about that particular description. ]

I'm fine, now, though. Really.

The guy making threats on your behalf had one. He seemed fond of you, even if bossy isn't the word I'd use to describe you.

[ it's easier to address that than it is ... this. luke's been on the end of this before, consoling the kids who went on quests, or even crossed the borders of the camp with monsters nipping at their feet. he's been on the receiving end of it; though, he hadn't been taken so much as he had failed his quest and seen to it his own pride had been stripped from him. it's not really in his place, but luke asks all the same, anyway: ] You sure? [ she has all reason to front with him, but he finds talking about her friend isn't exactly a highlight for him. ]

[ he tries to play it off, anyway. everyone always feels a little better when faced with humour, especially when it's something serious wrapped in a package of a bit of a smile. ] If I'd known, I would've said goodbye to chasing Muggle tail and tried to find you. Kind of good at the whole navigating thing. Not too bad at the fighting thing, either.
