[The image comes on of a room, an unfamiliar room to all but a small handful in Troichean Beinn. The picture rises and falls rapidly, a panting sound coming before there's a sharp cry and the visual changes to the wall as the body wearing the locket rises.

Sorry, folks, but it seems like Stiles turned the locket on while he was having his nightmare or vision or whatever the hell it was, reaching for something to help him get out of it and flicking on the video. Oops? He'd be embarrassed if he wasn't so confused.]

Scott? Malia...?

[He blinks, eying the stone walls in front of him and groaning as it all comes back in a rush. Drabwurld. Fairies. Crap.

It's a moment after that that he realizes the locket's on and he looks tired as he turns it to peer into it, seeing it unlocked to both courts. Great.]

Um... I guess I left? But I'm back now. Though... I'm not at Caer Glaem. Am I still at Troichean Beinn? Gendry? Jon? Sansa? I thought I would have shown up back at court, but hey, look, they don't entirely suck.

[Nope. Someone didn't know they'd been sleeping. He thought he'd left and gone for months and came back. Who wants to break the news? Shut up, Peter.]

[He frowns. All of this sounds absurd. Sure, he's seen Stile use magic. But all of this...]

What's wrong with a proper shield?

Well, for starters, it's pretty much only as strong as I am. If I can't hold it up against someone throwing fire at me, I'm gonna get roasted. What if it breaks? Then I'm SOL. I mean, there's nothing wrong with them, if you can use them, but it's the same as a sword for me. Not really my strong suit.

I heard a strange thing. My master said that at Redgate, there's a type of stone what makes magic fail. The place is bloody covered with the stuff. No magic works. At least not most. His does.

[teenyoda]

Really? So someone could just pick up one of those stones and chuck it at someone magical? Or does it affect everything it touches? Like... how's that work?

[Because that was interesting, Gendry. He could do slingshots with those.]

I'm not sure. Only that magic don't work if you're around it. It might be bad news if someone fancies tossing one of them at your bubble shield.

[See, there was a point to that.]

[Yeah, he figured, but he was living in denial for a moment in the vain hope that Gendry wouldn't mention it.]

There's no perfect protection, bro. Regular shields could be shattered by magic and now magical ones can be screwed up by magic-cancelling rocks. I'd be boned either way.

Really? You've got to show me how to do that.

[Stiles had to Knoooooooooooooooooooow everything, Gendry. And you'd better let him ride your toys. OR ELSE.]

Don't know that I can. I'm the first human to learn it. They've never taught an outsider before.

[He is learning basically all the best exclusive secrets, man. He can't just pass them off to some random guy.]

I could show you... I figure it will take me a long time to learn it all, though. [Smithing is related to it, sure. He can also make all manner of tools. But this was almost entirely new. He was taking up a whole new discipline.]
