[It should be clear from the view that Lumina is back in Caer Scima when she turns the locket on, though half the screen is covered up by her and her excited face. She is grinning from ear to ear, practically vibrating in place. Apparently this is one of those rare genuinely happy moments from Lumina.]

Guys! Look, look!

[The screen whirls as the kid twists around, but when it settles down the Caer Scima stables can be seen. Her little squad of pink and black painted imps are all fluttering around excitedly, seemingly having caught their mistresses excitement. And in the center of them is a giant black bird wearing a simple white saddle. Seemingly noticing someone is looking at him, the bird leans forward to stare at the locket before letting out a puzzled 'wark?']

[Then the screen whirls again and is back to Lumina, who is giggling from her excitement.]

Isn't he amazing? The imps said he's mine, I mean, when I complained about there not being any chocobos here I wasn't expecting anything but-

[She cuts off as the screen is suddenly blocked by black feathers and a big beak, the chocobo having walked over to lean his head past Lumina's shoulder and jab at the locket curiously. Lumina makes a surprised noise, then laughs and reaches up to scratch the giant bird on the head. It coos softly and then leans up.]

See? Completely amazing. And so much better than those silly horse things. And he is aaaaall mine.

What're you going to name him?

[This is asked by an imp as he flutters by, half his face painted pink, the other black. Lumina starts to answer but stops herself, frowning up at the big bird.]

Hm. Iiiii...am not sure.

[She turns to the locket once more, but says nothing for a few seconds, her eyes narrowed in thought.] Midnight, maybe? Or shadow...oe...[Suddenly her eyes light up. Ooh, idea.]

I know! What do you guys think of Chaos? Chaos the Chocobo!

...What's an ostrich?

It's a really big bird. Kind of like your chicken, only less chickeny and with longer legs and a long neck. They lay eggs about the size of my head.

Chocobo. [You are doing that on purpose, aren't you Veronica.]

Chocobo eggs are that big too. But I doubt any ostrich could ever be as amazing.

Chickenbo. [Yes, she was.]

Or tasty?

Nobody eats chocobos, so I have no idea if they're tasty or not. Probably not.

I mean, they spend all day running, isn't that bad for meat?

You never know. Bunnies run all day and they're pretty tasty.

[Yes, she'd had rabbit stew. No, she hadn't pet it first.]

I have never eaten a bunny. Don't think I'd want to.

...You probably don't want to mention the bunny eating around Alice, by the way.

Don't think I've seen her, but I'll keep an eye out for a girl with a pet bunny and not make rabbit-eating jokes around her.

[Seemingly noticing he's being talked about, the chocobo walks back over and 'Warks' angrily at the locket.]

I think he'd probably eat you first!

Carnivorous chickens, huh? Can't say I'm surprised.

[That it seems offended at the topic of conversation just amuses Veronica more.]

...Actually, I don't know what they eat.

[Give her a second here.]

I think cabbage?

You might want to find that out sooner than later. Just in case you wake up and discover he's really a meat eater.

No, no, it's greens or something. They have a weird name, they grow all over the wildlands but I really...don't go there much.

They can probably just eat grass?

Again, check on that. Grass isn't just 'grass'. If my commercial watching at two in the morning has taught me anything, it's that there's different types of grass for different types of lawn. You'll need to find out what kind of grass it eats. Otherwise I might be getting some of that fried chickenbo sooner than later.

Well there isn't anybody I can check with, nobody else from my world is here, you know.

[She turns around suddenly and can be heard ordering her imps to go pick a bunch of plants.]

Maybe talk to the fairies? If they gifted it to you, chances are they know a bit about it. Or can find out.

My imps aren't the...brightest little creatures in the world.

Couldn't hurt, though.

Or you could see if the stable master guys would know. Find someone around here whose job is to deal with animals.

That's what I do. Better than staring at it and waiting to find out when it either pecks my eyes out or drops dead.

I was just going to feed it stuff until I found something it liked. It would've worked eventually!

And it could have killed it. You know there's some kinds of grass and plants that can be toxic to animals, right?

...Of course I knew that. Chocobos are really hardy!
