[Guess who has two thumbs and is getting a handle on "fairy," technology. This guy. There's some rifling, and a brief shot of his face before he manages to get the damn thing figured out. Once he has the thing zero in on what he assumes is a reasonable view of him head on based on the image he's seeing he clears his throat.]

Yeah. This is weird.

[Coming from the guy that never had a myspace and doesn't use computers for anything but paranormal research, except for the occasional porno. Something he hasn't even mastered yet. He'd still rely on skin mags and pay-per-view if he had the option.]

Okay. Probably pointless, but new recruit here and I'm as pro-rights as the next guy but when I got the memo that I'd be waging war on behalf of fairies this isn't exactly what I anticipated.

[Dean scrubs a hand over his face, pausing to collect his thoughts. Sure, it's a bad joke, but anything to break the ice and take a little tension out of the situation.]

I've exhausted all my options on getting in touch with the people back home, and any resources on a way out are all coming up goose egg.

Anyone got any bright ideas? 'Cause so far this all seems like a really bad acid trip and getting enlisted by friggin' Tinkerbell's not my idea of a good time.

he's not figuring this one out so easily. But there are some things he can relay, even appearing as someone without a secret identity. ]

If you've just arrived, you're not that late, but I can bring you up to speed on the stuff that's happened so far. It might give you a headache, though.

I'll take what I can get. So far it's been a lot of nothing, and I'd rather be in the know than discussing fantasy with a bunch of syfy geeks. This place ain't exactly a five star resort. I have things to get back to, these mooks caught me at a bad time.

[There's never a good time to get held hostage in some medieval freak show as far as Dean's concerned but he needs to get to Sam antigure out why these clowns decided to take him in the first place.]

Right. [ He has nothing to say about the fantasy thing—a lot of the people he's talked to here don't even know what cellphones are, so he figures they originate from places pretty similar to this. And to them, it's probably not fantasy. Just weird. ] Unfortunately, some of the syfy is pretty legitimate, geeking aside. You know about alternate universe theories?

Sort of.

[If you could call be a drug coma while being bled an alternate universe or reality. Honestly he doesn't know enough about science to think of it as anything but a trip.]

But why don't you educate me. I'll sit in on any theoretical lecture that makes sense of this place.

Well, where I'm from there are alternate universes. Ones that can be jumped into if you've got the right machine or power. Before that was proven, people used to theorise that every choice we make results in another universe being created, one where you made the opposite of whatever choice you made.

[ He shrugs. ]

It's not really my expertise. [ Not exactly a lie. ] But some of the people here come from places where the USA doesn't exist. Or has never existed. [ He's recalling his conversation with Kougyoku now. ] What I'm guessing is these fairies somehow bent time and space in order to pick people up from their own universe... and dumped them here, into theirs.

[ Another shrug. ]

It's just a guess based on what I've heard from talking to others, though. I could be way off.

[ And in a place like New Earth, it's not out of contention. He just can't mention that without seeming suspicious. ]

[That's a mouthful. Dean suddenly regrets being on video. Maybe he's following along with what he's saying a little too well. Making it a business of tracking things most people didn't know existed opened your mind a little more than the average Joe.]

So, let's say I believe you. And that this place is some kinda dimensional crux. If these guys are powerful enough to do all that, why aren't they fighting their own battles?

[There's slight disbelief but when it comes down to it he'd study astrophysics if it meant getting back to Sam. God only knows what the kid was facing down right now.]

I don't know. Maybe something happens when they try to fight the other side?

[ He's thinking of what happened with the Karas. They couldn't touch each other without fritzing out because they were the same person from a different universe. The situation is pretty different (and would only be relevant for people like them, not the fairies) but the fact that something happened when they came into contact with each other makes him think that. ]

Or maybe they only have the power to do that. Nothing actually offensive.

[This guy was a wealth of knowledge. Not that he's not a born again believer when it comes to all this crap, but at least it put some of it into perspective for him.]

Has anyone gotten to the bottom of what's keeping us here? I guess they'd say it's magic, but I've got family at home that's counting on me and I don't wanna let 'em down.

I'll play nice for now, but when push comes to shove we don't even know which side's the good one. Let alone why they're at each other's throats.

[ He gives him a small, sad smile because he can sympathise with that. He wants to get back to his family, too. As rough as they are, he still needs them (and the other way around.). Ditching Damian at a time like this was the worst thing, and it bothers him to think about it. ]

At least the digs are alright. Could be worse. We could be recruited and living in barracks instead.

Ha. Too bad their ideas of entertainment are outdated. I don't know how they're living without TV.

I dunno. We might be better off without their idea of cable. Just saying. I really doubt their grasp on pop culture and writing can compare.

TV's one way to kill time, but give it a few weeks and everybody'll have their own routine. Most people improvise in a tight spot.

Fairy soaps. You're right, I don't want to even think about it.

[ He could dig some fairy sitcoms, though.

But this guy is right. He'll be figuring out how to Batman in this place ASAP, provided he's there long enough. It's better to play it like he's bored, though.

(He still kind of is, after the worm thing. Despite being very good at it, he's not a fan of sitting still.) ]

Most people would say pick up a book. Not sure if there's a library around here, but if there is maybe something there'll have some record of the crap stunts these guys have pulled in the past.

[Most library's carried records, and most people covered their tracks, but in his experience something was always overlooked and it couldn't hurt to check the most reliable and expansive source of information. Sam'd be proud.]

There is. I didn't get a good look, but there's a normal section and another section that you need permission to get into. I dunno if they'd hide that kind of stuff in there or what, but there you go.

Was there anyone guarding the restricted section? 'Cause if not, I say we take a field trip.
