(seelie&unseelie) first hunt ❂ video
[Guess who has two thumbs and is getting a handle on "fairy," technology. This guy. There's some rifling, and a brief shot of his face before he manages to get the damn thing figured out. Once he has the thing zero in on what he assumes is a reasonable view of him head on based on the image he's seeing he clears his throat.]
Yeah. This is weird.
[Coming from the guy that never had a myspace and doesn't use computers for anything but paranormal research, except for the occasional porno. Something he hasn't even mastered yet. He'd still rely on skin mags and pay-per-view if he had the option.]
Okay. Probably pointless, but new recruit here and I'm as pro-rights as the next guy but when I got the memo that I'd be waging war on behalf of fairies this isn't exactly what I anticipated.
[Dean scrubs a hand over his face, pausing to collect his thoughts. Sure, it's a bad joke, but anything to break the ice and take a little tension out of the situation.]
I've exhausted all my options on getting in touch with the people back home, and any resources on a way out are all coming up goose egg.
Anyone got any bright ideas? 'Cause so far this all seems like a really bad acid trip and getting enlisted by friggin' Tinkerbell's not my idea of a good time.
If you've got some insight that goes beyond the typical gist, feel free to speak up.

[Huh. Cute kid. Dean's not expecting a bouncy blonde but he'll take it, it's better than the broody teen he squared away with before she replied.]
Why's everyone so convinced this is some other plane of existence? Plenty of people try to sell that story but as far as I know nobody's ever bought it. At least not on this wide of a scale.
[The last thing Dean remembers is driving away from the prison and since his car is here that's gotta mean something. Maybe he hit the only Bermuda spot in the continental U.S.]
As much as I appreciate the thought, somehow I doubt lonely's really part of this. We weren't brought her to socialize, sweetheart.
video;
[She admits thoughtfully before giving a flat look, one eyebrow twitching a little.]
We may not have been but that doesn't mean we can at least try to make friends since we're all in this together. Wouldn't you get tired of just having to fight all the time?
video;
[Wishful thinking, not that he'd ever admit that. He's pissed about being here to begin with. Who the hell knows what Sam's up to. The kid always got into trouble without him around.]
Friends are nice, but they're not gonna win this war.
video;
[See, she has important business back home too, Dean. Geez.]
I think you would be surprised about that, friends will be there for you when you need it no matter what. I think war is a time when you need your friends most of all.
video;
Hey, at least the bed's here aren't crap. Count your blessings. Usually when you get kidnapped you don't get free room and board.
[Just saying. Since telling her why he can't make friends and why he won't is out of the question, Dean decides to act like he's giving her the benefit of the doubt. Last thing he needs is for all the civvies here to know what he's really capable of. Maintaining some mystery gave him the upper hand.]
I'll take your word for it.
video;
[Oooh mister mysterious, challenge accepted.]
Well, you have one friend here. You can count on me, alright?
video;
[What she says next makes Dean snort. Not that he didn't appreciate her enthusiasm but it's been a long time since he could count on anyone but Sam.]
Same goes for you.
[Just because she's a kid doesn't mean he can't be friendly. There's no reason to shut her out. The more friends he makes here the better of he is, and he knows it.]
video;
That's what friends are for.
[She may seem like she's joking but she takes her friendships seriously but she gives him a big, warm smile nonetheless.]
video;
video;
And you can call me Minako!
video;
[Mulling over giving his actual name is hard, in the end he knows that if he gives up the ruse it puts not just him but the rest of his group at the disadvantage should anyone show up to find him.]
I'm Dave.
[No better person to impersonate than Dave Mustaine. One of the old members of one of his favorite bands. He didn't have to throw around a last name unless people asked. For now this kept him and everyone else that mattered to him in the clear.]
video;
[Minako gives him a smile, having no reason to doubt that that is his real name.]
It's nice to meet you, Dave!
video;
[There's no insult meant in it, he shortens everyone's name. Gives nicknames to everyone. It's kind of his thing. If he didn't at least like her, he wouldn't bother.]
Wish I could say it was under better circumstances.
video;
video;
[She was more positive than he'd ever seen anyone be at her age, but he wasn't gonna question a good thing. That, and he wasn't sure he'd like the answer. The really cheerful ones were usually nuts.]
I'll take your word for it.
video;
It's alright, Dave, trust me, ok?
video;
[Except not really. Dean's the type that's not gonna let this one go until he knows more about the place he got thrown into. So far he's got a whole lot of nothing.]
video;
video;
[Dean hides a laugh behind his hand. She was a lot peppier than he remembers the average teenage girl being. He'd remember that when times got hard or he could use a pick me up.]
Take care of yourself.
video;
[She gives him a smile before waving.]
You too, Dave!
