[ picking up one of the feathers could have been a really bad idea, what with people turning into cats and things, but something much better happens when clarisse picks up this particular feather. she's never had any magic powers before, especially not of the elemental kind. it doesn't take long to figure out what's happened. accidentally soaking yourself during your morning training routine? yeah, as if she actually told anyone what really happened.

it gives her an idea, though. yes, you see, it's finally time for payback for all those years ago when percy nearly drowned her with toilet water. yeah, she never really let that one go. wonder why. (even if it was technically her fault for instigating the whole thing by trying to flush his head down the toilet in the girl's bathroom. whatever.)

the video opens with a long shot of percy, unsuspecting, like prey. she won't be pouncing on him, though, the water will be. basically. he won't get wet if she doesn't surprise him, anyway. annoying how that whole son of poseidon thing works. the video shakes a little while she tries to keep it steady with one hand, while the other pulls back and then sweeps forward again, pulling a huge crest of water with it, aimed directly at percy.

the splash it makes when the water crashes into him is more satisfying than slaying a hundred drakons. (maybe. that might be an overstatement. slaying one drakon had been pretty satisfying. but this has been such a long time coming.) she's laughing hysterically almost to the point of crying by the time she manages to say anything. ah, yes, vengeance is sweet. ]

HAHAHAHAHA! That's for nearly drowning me with toilet water, Jackson!

[ Part of him could sense it, could feel the water change and alter in a way that felt natural to him. Except- It wasn't him doing it? So confusion knits across his face in the split second before the water crashes into him.

Percy stands there, dumbfounded, arms out to his sides in sheer shock. He only stops when he hears the shriek of laughter and Clarisse's voice, shaking his head to spray some of the water off. Granted, he could just will the water off of him, but he'll allow Clarisse a few more moments of satisfaction before he does that.

Mostly because he's too busy staring at the water nearby, a familiar pillar of water rising, much like the same one that had drenched her all those years ago. ]

You know, I almost forgot that Ares kids are really into their grudges.

[ He'll ask about how she managed to manipulate the water later, right now is for, you know.

Drenching her. Again. ]

[ of course, she'd been expecting this. she's not that dumb to think that she could drench percy without getting drenched herself, so she can't even really be mad about it. now they're even.

but she sure as hell is getting ready to throw more water in his face, even if now he won't actually get wet. what a loser. what's the point of having a water fight if she's the only one who really gets wet. ]

Alright, Jackson, if that's how you want to play it, you're on.

[ To be fair, he hasn't actually forced the water away yet! So she still gets to enjoy the sight of one Percy Jackson, completely drenched in water. But any future attempts have about a 50/50 chance of sticking; after all, he might be too busy getting his revenge to bother with something as trivial as getting soaked.

Only after he hits he with the spray does he relax his hands, which means all manner of water stops aiming for her. But, well, let's be honest -- it could happen again just as quickly. ]

[Nico's feather business has also been less painful than most. He thinks it's a kindness, really, that his feather has granted him the ability to manipulate earth, and much better than he's used to. It's while he's practicing with making a pillar underneath him that he gets an excellent view of Clarisse and Percy's shenanigans. He smiles a little to himself before making his way over, and is in time to hear Clarisse's statement. Nico raises his eyebrows.]

He tried to drown you in a toilet?

[ her laughter is cut short by nico's voice, asking a question that makes her scoff and roll her eyes. ]

Not in a toilet, no. I did try to flush his head down a toilet first, so maybe I deserved a face full of toilet water. But how the fuck was I supposed to know he could make toilets explode? He hadn't exactly been claimed at the time. [ she was also fourteen and stupid and didn't put the pieces together until after the big blue trident popped up over his head. ] Point is, I finally got him back for it.

clarisse knows who this is, she saw the video of nerdanel's arrival, and vehemently avoided it. for obvious reasons. she never thought ... they would ever actually have reason to speak to one another, but clearly she was wrong. it's been long enough that clarisse is ... dealing with her actions better than she was when nerdanel arrived, but just seeing her face and knowing who she is is reminder enough of what clarisse did and the consequences that had followed.

her laughter ceases and she swallows thickly, expression much more serious than it had been a brief second ago. ]
