[ This video feed is focused mostly on a Lancelot's dog, so all that is really seen of him is his hands holding her still. She's terribly curious about it, but he's restraining her from licking it or chewing it.

His voice is distinctly tired, and anyone who is paying attention will notice that you can just about see a line of red, raw skin on his wrists -- leather guards covering how heavy the damage might be. ]

Is anyone good with names? I'm afraid my friend here has gone too long without one. She's brave, curious but cautious, much cleverer than I am...

[ She's also turning to nudge his hands. He lifts one gently and pets at her ears. She squirms a little, shakes her head -- then makes a quiet, high-pitched sound and...

... hiccups a tiny fireball. The dog's ears flatten back, perhaps unhappy or apologetic (maybe embarrassed, it wasn't very elegant) but Lancelot just huffs amusement and strokes her again. ]

Forgive me, I almost forgot, it seems these -- [ He reaches out of the frame and his hand comes back holding a small, blue feather. ] -- have some kind of magic in them. It appears it does not discriminate in who it grants it to.

[ Which means he now has a small, magically inclined dog. ]

Nah - [He tilts his head one way and the other to check the corners of his vision, demonstratively more than anything, ears turning.] - I'm trying not to slow down, if I can help it, but no one's been around, and I've been checking. I'm not too worried anymore.

[He nonetheless knows better than not to be careful, howeber. It's all a bit soft and quickly padding along, as if he's making allusion to a secret.]

Why, you don't think someone's catching up to you guys, do you?

Not as far as I can tell. Perhaps they have given up on us.

[ He can only hope.

Good thing he never admitted who he was, otherwise they might not have. ]

Maybe. I hope so.

[He peers in a little bit, angles his head down and lifts his eyes - to the puppy. Tentatively starts in the soft, lilting way he's been talked to by sympathetic humans on the streets before he met other wolves, or how he imagines one talks to a child. (It makes him feel a little older than he normally does, but he's not pretending anything.]

Hey...! Maybe you're not old enough to really talk yet -- but that was one of the coolest things anyone's ever done, you know? Running out and getting us a rescue all by yourself, and leading those other wolves to where they took us...

You gotta be brave and smart to do all that as fast as you did.

[ Lancelot tilts the locket up, since Toboe has seen all his cuts and bruises anyway, and offers him a pleased smile. He's proud of the little dog, like people are of children he supposes, and it's a warm sort of feeling to have others recognise her and be as proud of her too. ]

She is brave.

[ He shuffles her in his arms, scratches under her chin and watches her close her eyes in pleasure. ]

I hope I can take as good care of her as she has of us.

[Toboe watches happily, certainly - might be some of the pup's happiness crossing over to and tickling him!

It feeds this next statement, though some of the immediate feeling loosens out and scoots out of his immediate thoughts for space.]

Uh - you took care of us...! Out there, on the way to the Unseelie.

[For what it's worth. It's just a little softly uneasy - not in the remotest because he doesn't mean it, but because, well, they're recovering from how that went - doesn't know whether it's too soon to really speak of it.]

[ Technically true. He was not much good once they made Maupertius, however. Toboe still got caught, even if the others escaped. ]

I tried. Perhaps this will be a listen, and next time I will do better still.

[ If there is a next time. Inwardly, he hopes there is not. ]

I'm -- sure you will! [As sunny a vote of confidence as seems appropriate, which is needless to say not fully. Talking as if it was all just fine probably isn't going to cut the mustard - but Toboe hopes there won't need to be a next time, either. Not quite like that.

He perks up, focuses down at the pup again.]

I guess you can learn to keep each other strong there, too, huh...?

I am sure she will keep me in check. You are welcome to come visit her when you return to Caer Glaem, too.

Uh - ! Yeah, I would love to!

[Ahh she is the first pup younger than himself he can say he's been around. Even comparing them on the lockets now, this feels big, exciting, in some silly way.]

Then contact me when you have the time. I have no doubt she would enjoy someone to play with so much as I would enjoy a moment to relax.
