[ How had this happened? A sneeze? A hiccup? A belch? A misplaced thought?
Days ago, the birds twittered and fussed; cawed and clamored, and she had truly promised to do all she could, but she could only find the little ones. The small feathers, and who knew if this would help? But on she collected, doing her best. Then this had happened, two days ago, a day? She can't quite recall.
She's been learning to walk again, and her thoughts fly away with her mouth. A situation both wonderful and troublesome!
But here she is in the round mirror of the locket—woman or half-beast; a tiny girl materialized from sunbeam and breezes. She's wiry, more hair—full and framing and wisping at the temples; tangled with leaves, grass or flower-seeds, and burrs—than body. It keeps her modest, but barely: she's quite visibly nude and pale. The canines in her smile are too sharp: the wolf that won't allow itself to be suffocated under this trick. And the wolf boasts its ears through her mop of hair. Behind her, unseen, at the end of her spine it keeps its tail. ]
Hello, [ how nice it is to speak it. ] my body is different now. It does not keep the cold out. Is there someone—
I'm curious about clothes. I'll do my best to repay any help. [ Her narrow shoulders come up, then fall, as if she isn't sure what else to say. Starting conversation isn't very easy, and she's always been more suited to listening. ] And... conversation, I think, I would like that so very much.

[ a small shrug - she can probably see how he's still a little too pale, Light burning in him from the inside out - but it is stronger now, a little less fragile (which might or might not be a good thing), the flame a steady burn rather than a guttering candle ]
I do well enough. [ a small smile ] My mother is here - you would like her, Lady.
Well enough is good news; and your mother: I would like so much to meet her. Are you happier with her here?
Yes and no, Lady. I did not think to ever see her again - so this is a joy unlooked and unhoped for. But... I do not wish her drawn into this madness, either.
[ If it's all right to speak from her own experience as a mother, even if she hasn't birthed in the same way as most.
Yet. ][video]
She is, yes. If you hear tell of the Lady Nerdanel, that is her. If I am grateful for nothing else, it is that I have this chance to see her again.
But Lady, to return to the original topic - have you found enough to wear?
I wonder if I'll be stuck this way. Will I have to gather very many clothes for different types of weather?
Is Nippon where you are from Lady? And yes, if you remain in this form it would be wise - lighter things for the warm, heavier for the cold. You may not change back?
And Nippon was the land I was traveling before the fairies lured me here. The Celestial Plains is where I'm from; my home. It's in the sky, you know, and even here, I look up and wonder if maybe... But I don't recall having created the Drabwurld, so it mustn't be, right?
I suppose if it does not inconvenience you overly Lady... But yes, I would begin with a cloak - without your fur you must be getting cold. You came from the stars? Ah, truly you are Arien, the Maiden of Sunlight, who brings life and light. But I think we are all far from home.
I'll search for a cloak. It is awfully cold without fur, I've never realized how rough humans have it. They're really something else. Tenacious. I admire them. Do elves keep all right in the cold? You resemble human beings very much, and I have to wonder.
We feel the cold less than Men do, so it bothers us only a little, although certainly if tis cold enough it can be as troublesome for us as it is for others. Will you be well, Lady?
