[the locket is being carried, facing outwards, around the castle of caer scima. the feed isn't too bumpy, but it does sway a bit, jerking around every so often as effy avoids tripping over rocks or branches. she's fairly far away from the castle, but that doesn't seem to bother her. every so often she stops, marking a tree with a sharp rock, to be sure she knows her way back.]

Okay.

[she stops momentarily to adjust the locket, turning it around so it shows her face. with her free hand, she tucks the rock away in her pocket and holds up one blue feather, twisting it around quickly between her fingertips.]

It really isn't too hard to find these, is it? They're everywhere.

[fortunately, for her, she doesn't seem to be feeling (or experiencing) the effects of the feathers just yet. she's found two already, within the past hour and a half or so. the effort isn't exhausting, so she's enjoying it. it's like an easter egg hunt. she's only doing it for the sake of figuring out boons, though.]

If anyone wants to come looking, text me.

[or they can follow the marked trees outside of the castle. they're pretty in-your-face.]

( cassie just... shows up and waves at the girl. she didn't actually video at her, so she's not sure effy even really knows who she is. she offers a slightly awkward, but friendly, smile. )

Hey -- I'm here about the feathers?

[effy can guess, and when cassie asks about the feathers-- she knows. she tips her chin at cassie in greeting.]

Yeah. They show up randomly, just got to keep looking.

[powerful]

( cassie looks this way and that, scanning the area they're in for any sign of the feathers. she sighs. surely there's some way for her to use her magic to hone in on the energy of one or something. )

I can probably get a few a lot faster than just looking, if I try. Not positive but...

( she licks her lips. )

Is there a bench or something anywhere around here?

[allures]

[effy blinks slowly, then nods to the forest floor.]

The ground.

[she's looking at cassie expectantly, a small smile on her features. what's so bad about sitting on the ground?]

action.

[powerful]

( she huffs. ) Yeah, I was hoping for something less involving dirt. But... ( she shrugs nonchalantly and plops down. feathers, feathers, feathers. she clears everything else from her mind. feathers. feathers. she starts to murmur, barely a whisper, on her lips. feathers. feathers. she opens one eye, nose crinkled - ) Anything yet?

[effy watches cassie as she ... does whatever she's doing, effy really has no idea, but she waits patiently. after cassie questions her, she gives a small glance around, then shrugs, shaking her head.]

What the fuck are you doing--

[but then she glances up, just for a moment, and she sees something blue glimmering in the brush. she moves past cassie, her strides quick, and reaches deep into the shrubbery.

and pulls out a feather.]

How did you do that?

[powerful]

( cassie's about to shush effy when she opens both eyes and follows the girl as she heads toward the brush. )

Magic.

[allures]

Bippity-boppity-boo, and you get feathers.

[silently, she drops the feather delicately into cassie's lap. she's officially more interested in what she's like.]

Convenient.

[powerful]

I wasn't sure if it would work. ( cassie looks down at the feather and narrows her eyes as she closes two fingers gingerly around the quill. ) This is amazing.

[she takes a step back, still facing cassie. effy needs to find a few more to make sure she can keep her deal with erik.]

Can't rely on magic for everything.

Actually, technically, I could. But I'm not exactly expertly trained.

( still, cassie stands up again, though not without a couple of poorly masked grumbles, and marches further into the wooded spaces and shrubs and sighs. )

You'd think glowing feathers would be easier to f--hey, look!

( UP IN THAT TREE - remember when you said, effy, do you remember, can't rely on magic for everything? cassie's gonna just... concentrate really hard and make the wind blow the feather right into her hands

[effy rolls her eyes when cassie retorts, focusing on moving forward instead.

when she tells her to look, effy turns abruptly, thinking something is wrong-- until it's just another feather. she looks up, watches as cassie makes the feather fall right out of the tree. a part of it bothers her, scares her, because she's seeing it happen right in front of her eyes. it's one thing being dragged about into another world, it's another witnessing magic -- a witch -- right before her. she doesn't let it show, though, she just manages to look vaguely interested.]

[allures]

[effy glances down to the feather that cassie holds out to her, and there's a moment's hesitation before she takes it. she hadn't taken it in the first place because cassie had found it.

but, if she's offering, she may as well take it.]

[she gives a small shake of her head.]

Whatever's left over? I don't need a specific number or anything. Mostly I just want to see if I can figure out how they work.

[plus, she's not into magic, or really interested in learning how the feathers work. she just wants the reward.]
