[ Having left Redgate on horseback with a promise to return when he can, John hadn't really had a plan. The war has become a hard thing to swallow, having seen the devastation the dragon had more or less accidentally done to the village. He'd given the funds Kaldur had sent to Alyosha, presented in front of all as a donation to help with restorations, and he hopes it helps. More than that, he hopes that being away from there makes it a bit safer.

If nothing else, the birds seem to have followed him, chirping and squawking all the way along the road to Daonna's fairy ring. His horse hadn't been particularly pleased about it, and it isn't too pleased now, either, in the camp John's made for the night. He's in the wilderness, close to the edge of Loch Noa, and it's sunset -- John isn't particularly sure whether or not he wants to see if the stories about a ghost girl and her dog are true, but he had to stop somewhere.

There are long strands of fur left on his shirt and he plucks them off. They appear white, but are actually transparent -- polar bear fur. A hint of blue can, likewise, be seen behind him. He's been collecting feathers, and using them. ]

Anyone else looking for the feather thief? If you're in the area, my camp's open.

I tried to get Alyosha to petition for your return, but I think the politics were just too convoluted for it to work.

Not more important. Just... things I was trapped by.

Ganondorf was more than a little determined to hand me off to Morla, so I don't think Alyosha could have done anything about it.

[ She hesitates, then -- ]

You know I know about the whole mountain collapsing thing, right? Harry told me. And you're asking if I'm okay?

I know. No amount of planning could've prepared us, really, I don't think-- and I know. I did a lot of preparation.

As far as I can tell. Kaldur got pretty badly burned, but he'll be okay. He and Korra will be attacked if any Redgate soldiers ever see them again, though.

Is he alright now? I have some burn paste in my bag, I could easily pop over and give it to him -- and I doubt we'll be going back to Redgate anytime soon. Right?

He's stuck in a tub of water -- he'd probably appreciate the paste.

I might. Bolin and I were named Champions of Redgate, and you and Cassie are free to come and go since you didn't go into the mountain. [ He made sure to ask. ] I was helping with the repairs there before I came here.

I'll ask Legolas if he'd be already for me to disappear for an hour. I don't want to worry him -- I've done enough already.

[ She pauses, shaking her head before she breathes out. ]

I don't know if I'll ever want to go back there unless I really have to. Not having my magic was... I didn't like it.

[ John nods, even though she can't see it. ]

Exactly. And Kaldur could use the company -- maybe you could bring him some books to read? I think he's getting restless, and that's not going to help him heal.

[ Ah. Yeah. John rubs the back of his neck. ]

I can do that! I'm sure I have a few from my world that he'd never have read before. I'll talk to Legolas as soon as we're done here.

[ She hesitates. ]

Apparently I saved his life despite being miles away. I'm that magical.

I'd say you could bring Crookshanks to the infirmary to sit with him, but I'm not sure how comfortable he'd be with that.

[ Cats and fish, you know. ]

Somehow, I don't doubt that.

I think Crooks is more than happy wasting away in my room, honestly. I'm sure he'd be fine without the extra company.

[ Hah. She doesn't even pick up on that. ]

I wish there was more I could have done, all the same.

He's going to weigh about fifty pounds by the time you get back.
