Good afternoon, I've been informed that one of our number has recently taken a woman named Hermione hostage. If this is the case, I'd appreciate proof of life and the opportunity to talk with her and make sure that she's being well-cared for. I'll offer whatever surety you need.

[He doesn't sound particularly pleased, but he's making an effort to remain professional.]

[ It's not overly clever, no, but of the options he had available, this seemed like the best of a bad lot. ]

Well spoken. [In light of he dragon being dead, Hermione has reached a point where she's certainly useful as a reward, but of not significant priority. And so he considers the situation...]

Make no mistake, this is a war. I know well you have suffered injury because of her allies. It is for their actions that she is imprisoned. I would gladly exchange any of the true perpetrators for the girl. Certainly her situation is pitiable. However, I will permit you opportunity to see her. But you shall do so under my terms.

[ If Ron will listen, Harry will pass along some of this information, but he's genuinely concerned that if the jailbreak fails, his friend will offer himself in exchange.]

I will allow you to speak to her through my locket. In exchange, you will tell me of the redheaded whelp who thought to threaten me.

[Oh yes, he noticed that. It was a laughable threat, but one that deserves to be dealt with accordingly.]

[ He's not sure that he'll give the information, nor that he'll give correct information. ]

You will tell me his name and you will tell me what he is capable of. And I advise you that you do not lie to me. It will not be difficult to verify your words.

His name is Ron.

[ Harry knows he's treading a very fine line here, but he's not going to give out anything that wasn't already public knowledge. ]

He's from my world and he's like Hermione and me. You know me at least a little, you've seen what I can do, and honestly, there's not much I can say that you don't already know.

If I could stop this and safely, properly, steal my friend from you, I would, but I can't.

[The girl had proven to be quite the witch. Ganondorf had contained the situation, but it might have turned out differently if he'd been slower or his back had been turned. All the same...]

Do not mistake it as my desire to sow discord among our own court. But this is the nature of war. Had you wished it otherwise, you and your friends would have fled to the furthest corners of this continent to watch it from afar. But this girl became an agent of the Seelie, just as you became an agent for Queen Morla.

[ Ganondorf has touched on a particularly sensitive topic there. Harry has been asked and considered defecting, but for reasons he's yet to go into, has chosen to stay Unseelie. ]

She is not presently by my side.

[ There's a bit of a break here. Harry has to go and count to ten a few times to calm down and it's probably a very good thing that he's still at Redgate and unable to do do magic. (Or get angry and leak magic.) ]

When may I speak to her?

Tomorrow. I will arrange for her to speak through my locket. Be prepared to answer it - I will not bother to make such an arrangement a second time.

[ Quiet, hoarse little voice. Forgive her, she's been, er. Shouting a lot. ]

Hullo. Are you...I know you're not okay, but are you okay?

[ Harry will forgive her anything. ]

It could be a lot worse, I suppose. At least I have books this time.

[ She huffs out a noise. ]

Good. I'd wanted to sent you a care package, but I don't think I can manage to argue for that.

[ He pauses, unsure how to answer her question. ]

I'm well. I'm sorry this took so long, but there was a bit of a scuffle at Redgate and I couldn't get to my locket to chat.

I don't have what Ganondorf wants to trade for you, but I'm working on something for the Queen. You're going to be fine.

Don't worry about that. I'm a prisoner of war, at least of a sort. I don't think he'd do anything to seriously hurt me, not if he wants me to be useful.

[ She sighs, fiddling with Ganondorf's locket. She could abuse this privilege but she suspects he would know. ]

Honestly, I'll find a way out. You don't have to do anything --- I just need a little time.

I know. He wants to present you, whole, to the Queen at the next audience.

[ here's no hope that she'd prefer to switch courts, is there?]

And, I do have to do something.

It sounds a little bit familiar... Presented whole to someone out to get us...

[ She's trying to make a bit of a joke but, in true Hermione fashion, she's failing rather spectacularly. ]

[ Har, har? Not really, but he's failing too. ]

Would you listen if I told you? And, you needn't worry, I'm not going to do anything rash. Even if I wanted to do something monumentally foolish, which I really do, I can't find you or get there fast enough.

[ She sighs, leaning back against the dirty wall and crossing her legs. She wishes she could reach through and slap his side, really. ]

I suppose so. At least then I might be able to use my magic. Honestly, being down here and not able to even feel it is one of the worst things in the world. It's awful, Harry.

[ Damn it. That's no good. Especially if Ron's going in alone and without any other back-up. ]
