Good evening - I've come into quite a bit of luck, recently. Good news should be shared, as my older sister would say.

[There's a mischievous edge to his entire face. For a moment, he pauses. ]

I had known that our monarchs were generous, but I hadn't quite believed it until I experienced it first hand.

[At this, his eyes change. They glow red, his teeth just shy of fangs. He's positively brimming with elation. Hardly had to lift a finger. Hardly had to scheme at all and he's gotten what he wanted. Not a single drop of blood shed; he's sure Derek and Talia would both be so proud. ]

The eyes do come with a few draw backs, but none that I can't fix.

[It feels so good to be back in action. ] Anyway, I really ought to go. Consider this my Unseelie propaganda duty.

So who do werewolves bite, if not just anyone?

It differs from pack to pack. Some prefer those with strategic benefit: incredible intelligence, athletic prowess, notable social links. Others prefer sentimental value.

What do you prefer?

You have to understand that I come from a long line of werewolves, Ariadne. My older sister was our Alpha for a good portion of my life. Our pack was steeped in tradition and misplaced trust. It got my family killed. When I became an Alpha back home, I made mistakes. I made choices I would never have made in my right mind.

A pack needs intelligence. It needs loyalty; those who can think outside the box and who can fall in line when required. But part of is still sentimental. If I were to have a pack, I'd want my nephew and niece with me.

Tradition can be good. But change is necessary.

[ They are Unseelie, after all. ]

Are they here?

My nephew was, for a time. He's gone.

We have a complicated relationship. I can see why the Unseelie favored you.

I'm sorry. I think having them be here and disappear must be worse than not having anyone here at all.

[ Perhaps many wouldn't think of it as a compliment, but it certainly seems like one. ]

It's alright. It would have taken him a terribly long time to come and see me anyway.

We certainly wouldn't live for long if we didn't change, didn't adapt. And I'm really very happy that my world isn't still stuck in the Dark Ages.

Seconded. Every day I'm thankful for electronic blankets. Change is a wonderful thing, Ariadne. I had to change my ideals, somewhat. For the better.

I have a feeling being here, being in this war, will change even more for all of us. I'm not sure if it'll be for the better or for the worse, though.

We'll be stronger for it.
