Family is a good reason. Better than some, I imagine.

In my own world I am the last of my family left. Here, I have had brother, father, mother... for them I would do anything. Have done, in some cases.

But I have extended family here as well, including those long lost to me, or who I have yet to meet.

I see. I, too, would have done anything for my mother, once.

Is she lost to you then? Your mother? Forgive me, that was rude - my condolences, instead. Tis never easy to lose family.

Yes. She was taken from me.

I am sorry. I did not mean to wake grief. Tis always a difficult memory

It's no matter. It was a long time ago.

A year or a thousand, and yet grief, I find, comes in like a thief - it never truly leaves. Such wounds never truly heal, they only scar, a little.

Then we have shared grief. I doubt my mother will wake here, though.

It seems so - although it was me who left her, and that she would take me back is a joy unlooked and unhoped for. We do not know how the Rulers steal us from our worlds - she may yet, although I do not know if I should wish that she does or does not, for tis not a pleasant awakening, to a world such as this.

I would slaughter them if they dared bring her here.

You would try, and doubtless be slaughtered for your pains, or worse, enslaved. Have a care of the rulers! They are mighty indeed and seem not overly inclined to mercy.

I have met these rulers and been given gifts for my determinations. I am not foolish enough to fall into folly.

Then may you come to good fortune here and the rulers not inopportune you too badly. That they have already tis almost inevitable, however.

Certainly. I will make the most of a situation, however. It is what I have been known to do.
