[The woman who appears on the locket would be a sight to behold -- if perhaps her hair were not in disarray or the dirt smudged on her face. Her expression is held tightly and deliberately; there's a sense that, if she let her emotion go, she might fall into something that she cannot come back from, not easily.]
I do not know who is listening. [There's a sense that she honestly does not care, not now.] I have but one question and I will have my answer. [Idril's voice is shaking, threatening to crack but there is a power behind it.]
Where is my son?

Where is my son?

I see...
[ he paused a moment and then took off his glasses to rub at his eyes, clearly troubled. ]
In that case, you truly have my condolences. Do you perhaps have a picture of the child? I'll watch out for him although a young child of that age should be easy enough to spot, I think.
[ considering most of the shard holders are at least twice that age. Still, there were plenty of natives to worry about as well. ]

... If you see him, tell him that I will find him.

I trust that means you've never heard of the drabwurld before then? It takes a little getting used to, but it's not a terrible place.
[ small comfort that it is. ]

But he turned his attention to the question at hand and started speaking. ]
It's a strange world, by my standards. I've never seen such creatures as the one's I've seen here before! There are fairies no bigger than my hand that sing and make merry around the halls.
[ he chuckled ]
Although be careful, they have quite a fire in them and don't take kindly to interruptions!
[ and he'll continue on if she let's him, describing the court at Caer Glaem and the people he's met. Most were good men even if they were conflicted on the mission the kings and queens had laid before the shard bearers. But mostly, he'll just talk about the creatures he's met and their joy in simply living. The rest of the fell creature can be left for another day. No sense worrying the new lady about a few pesky dangers here and there, right? ]

[ he chuckled ]
They're actually quite simple once you take the time to get to know them.

[ he says it lightly and with a certain degree of caution. She was obviously upset, but sometimes, in some cases, talking about a lost one helps. ]

[ there's a pause and then he takes a gamble. ]
The monarchs of Caer Glaem occasionally grant a boon to their vassals; perhaps if you submit a request, they might find a way to send a letter to your soon assuring him you are well.

At least for Oscar, he was already dead and had played his part. Should it not be the same for all these others?
But he simply looked on in the locket, smiling sadly as he nodded. ]
I hope there is someone he can turn to for help while you are gone. Is there an aunt or an uncle, perhaps?
[ because that's where the real chills started in his heart. A seven year old boy stranded all alone in the world. He can only imagine what scars that child might bear into adulthood if there was no one to help him along the way. ]
