[ it doesn't immediately occur to thomas that he could probably just communicate through a text system--as far as he knows, the locket is a lot easier to use by video, and so he does. the network is presented with a pair of big, brown doe eyes before he leans backwards a little, revealing a face that could be rather familiar to some--dark hair, a button nose, moles like spots littering his face.

this is not the man you are looking for, however: this is thomas "murphy", and he clears his throat before he introduces himself. ]

Hi. I'm Thomas Murphy, and I'm--kind of a new arrival. I guess they'd call me a greenie if this was back home. [ there's no hint of humor on his face, but he did actually just try and make a joke, and his tone is a little lighter, for it. ]

Can anyone tell me about the Seelie and Unseelie--in your own words, if that makes any sense? What you know about it...you don't have to tell me any secrets or anything, but, maybe why you're there, I guess. [ he's not going to say which court he is (though it's obvious eventually, by the background of caer scima), but he just needs to know. ] Or, if you're okay with where you are. Not that I'm not, but...I don't know. Is there any reason why someone wouldn't be? They apparently brought us here for a reason-- [ again. ] --since we have these "shards", or whatever they are, but I don't have a lot of trust for anybody who says that, because it's usually a load of klunk.

I guess that's all I've got to ask. [ a beat. ] Actually, that's not true. Is there another map around here? Besides the one they gave me, I mean, it's not very good. [ ... ] No offense.

[ thomas is just going to shut his trap now. he almost physically winces and shakes his head. ] That's it, honestly. I'm just going to... hang up now. Thanks.

[ thomas does hang up, and the feed ends--for all of five seconds, before he snaps it back on. ] Oh, wait--also, I want to know if anyone here's ever heard the phrase "WICKED is good." It has to look like this. [ after a second, there's a typed out phrase that appears instead, with WICKED fully capitalized. ] That's really all this time. Um, thanks.

I did too. [ thomas sighs. he likes to think he's not a bad guy anymore, but maybe this fairy court knew just how much repenting he needed to really do. ]

I'm in Unseelie, yeah. I guess I can see why, but my best friend is here, and he's...I mean, don't get me wrong, he's done some, uh, reckless klunk in his life, but he's not a bad guy. There's no way he could be one.

[ reckless... klunk...? okay, that's a new one. but Percy can roll with it! ]

I guess it's something else, then. At least we have a lot of time to figure it out.

I'm Percy, by the way.

Thomas. [ he winces. ] I already introduced myself, didn't I.

[ a smooth operator, this one is. ] But, yeah. I guess people get stuck here for a long time. I doubt they're gonna let us go home anytime soon.

Yeah, I guess there are some people that have been here hundreds of years? Pretty crazy to think that they'd be here this long without getting to go back. I sort of figured we'd get here, help out for a bit, and then get sent home.

[ oh, how very wrong he was. ]

Hundreds of years?! [ thomas's eyes get huge at that as he considers--no, no, he definitely can't do that. paradise needs him, the gladers who are left need him. this is bad bad bad bad. ]

Shuck me. [ he mumbles it as he considers the idea of being stuck in crazy fairy world for a hundred years--and he still sounds like an idiot saying the slang, but you know what, random strangers wouldn't know that. ]

That's what a friend of mine said. But time, back where we come from, it stops while we're here. So even if you left home in the middle of something really important, it isn't like you went missing or left those people behind.

[ which is probably the biggest comfort Percy has had so far, knowing that he didn't just leave Annabeth or the others to continue on without him when they needed him the most. ]

Wow. [ well, thomas at least looks a little less distressed about that--so brenda will be okay without him. not that he doesn't think she would be, but, you know. paradise, munies. that whole thing. ]

So people can come back from the dead, and time stops at home... [ when he thinks it over, that actually. ] It kind of sounds nice.

[ he's not sure if he'd want to see his dead friends, though. not sure how many of them would condemn him for everything that happened to them. ] Aside from the war fighting, I guess.

Yeah, but the war here seems to be pretty slow in general. I guess there was a huge battle recently, but other than that it sounds like a lot of it goes on in smaller quests and stuff.

[ which feels like a weird relief; Percy really didn't want to go from one desperate situation to another. here? here it feels like a bit of a break from what they were facing back home, a much needed one. ]

So you have friends here? Are all of you in the same court too? [ since... everyone from his home wound up in Seelie, not that he's all that surprised. ]

That'll be nice. [ he realizes a couple seconds later that that probably sounded really stupid but. talk about a reprieve. he tries for a little bit of a sheepish face. ] Things back home were kind of crazy.

[ but, thomas shakes his head, and thinks, strongly, of teresa. ] No. Me and my best friend are in Unseelie, but there's a girl...actually, you're Seelie, right? Her name's Teresa Agnes. She's got black hair and blue eyes, and...she gets in trouble a lot. Would it be weird if I asked you to keep an eye out for her? If you have someone on this side I can return the favor...

Hey man, I get it. Stuff is pretty nuts where I come from, too.

[ at the request, Percy perks up a bit. he can only imagine how he'd feel if one of their friends had been placed over in the other court without the rest of the demigod squad. ] Wouldn't be weird, I'll look out for her. Uh, I don't have anyone on that side or anything, but if I do I'll let you know.
