[ Hans has made pretty good legwork around Caer Scima during and after the feast, but that's not quite enough to satisfy his curiosity on a few matters - the locket, for one, and the other court for another. So he might as well kill two birds with one stone, right? Besides, while he's still getting his bearings, the best thing he could do what get to know as many people as possible. He hates being so unfamiliar with, well, everyone.

So he greets the video feed with a friendly, enthusiastic grin, his actual exhaustion buried deep beneath the surface. ]

Good evening! I apologize for the interruption, but I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I'm Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, and I've only just arrived in this world. As you might imagine, it's a bit overwhelming. If wouldn't mind taking a moment of your time to help me better understand the conflict going on here, I would appreciate it.

[ Then, after a thoughtful moment: ] And for curiosity's sake, who else is a royal in their own world? Surely, I can't be the only lucky one here.

[ Sure, lucky, SOMETHING LIKE THAT. ]

[ He doesn't really appreciate the way he says "your Southern Isles", but he doesn't betray the thought. ]

Even so, it's a pleasure to meet you, Your Highness. [ Not the first monarch he's met, but still, he wanted a headcount here. ] Royalty must have been a popular choice for them today.

[for once, he didn't mean anything bad by that, not even really subtly. it's just hard to say "the southern isles" having grown up studying a geography that doesn't have southern isles.]

Are there really so many? I haven't heard that much so far. But either way, it would be hard to say exactly what proportion of the group they've pulled in are royals without knowing how many were brought to begin with. Asking for royalty will most likely net you royalty, and anything will seem abundant when a good handful present themselves to you all at once upon asking.

Then I suppose my next action will be to take a census. [ He chuckles. ] But assuming that would be rather time-consuming, I'll just consider myself grateful that I'm not the only royal around here. It's nice to be in familiar company at all.

I suppose there is a certain educated and well-mannered nature common among nobles, and that is nice to be sure of at times. But I can't help but take issue with the way they promote distance between the classes here. Granting the royalty additional luxuries in their own worlds where they actually have power is one thing, but here it seems more likely to just raise tensions and inspire jealousy.

[though perhaps that's to motivate people to accomplish things and gain status here? who knows.]

[ Hans was more inclined to think along the lines of the latter, considering what he had learned from Ganondorf about boons. But he didn't mention as much. ]

I don't know about that. Everyone I've spoken to, royalty or not, seemed disinclined to take part in this war. I doubt they would want to fight among us, either.

Oh, of course they don't want us fighting among ourselves. But there's little that encourages strife among supposed comrades so much as needless favoritism.

Maybe they just assume nobility have more experience in matters of war. [ It wasn't an unreasonable expectation, really. ]

Do you?

[ No. ] I have experience in the matter of politics.

[not what he'd asked. but his gaze is sympathetic nonetheless.]

I can't imagine that they expect us all to fight for them.

They'd be putting a lot of other useful talents to waste, don't you think?

Perhaps they needed some politicians, then.

[ He chuckles amiably. ] Well, maybe it's not too late for that. I can only hope.
