[ Hans has made pretty good legwork around Caer Scima during and after the feast, but that's not quite enough to satisfy his curiosity on a few matters - the locket, for one, and the other court for another. So he might as well kill two birds with one stone, right? Besides, while he's still getting his bearings, the best thing he could do what get to know as many people as possible. He hates being so unfamiliar with, well, everyone.

So he greets the video feed with a friendly, enthusiastic grin, his actual exhaustion buried deep beneath the surface. ]

Good evening! I apologize for the interruption, but I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I'm Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, and I've only just arrived in this world. As you might imagine, it's a bit overwhelming. If wouldn't mind taking a moment of your time to help me better understand the conflict going on here, I would appreciate it.

[ Then, after a thoughtful moment: ] And for curiosity's sake, who else is a royal in their own world? Surely, I can't be the only lucky one here.

[ Sure, lucky, SOMETHING LIKE THAT. ]

[ Said in a mock-serious tone, but really, thank god. ]

That's better. [ heh. ] You know, I think I like you calling me "princess" for now. Maybe I'll tell you my name later.

Fair enough. I really do apologize if I've been impertinent. [ HE HASN'T BEEN. ] It's just so strange to be having a conversation with someone from another world at all.

It's okay, Prince Hans, don't sweat it. Some people get used to it, but I don't think I will.

Have you been here long, then?

[ Should he even bother with this conversation if she hasn't? ]

[ EXCUSE YOU she's the best conversation partner even if she doesn't have a lot of info!! ]

That's quite awhile. And I'm sure an intrepid, strong girl like yourself must've spent some time in the world beyond the castle walls.

I'm a hunter, it's what I do. I haven't visited everywhere on the map yet, but I've seen a good chunk of the world here.

Well, I know we might not necessarily have the same definition of "out of the ordinary", but how about anything out of the ordinary to you? I'd find that interesting.

[ Because he has such a high opinion of you, Korra! ]

Uuhhh, well, everything here is "out of the ordinary" to me. [ haha.. ha.. ] The animals, the people, the names — even the architecture is weird.

voice;

[admirably]

[ G O D KORRA. ]

How about the animals, then? I heard there are beasts outside the castle that are not always the friendliest of creatures.

[ she's not gonna say "that's true of everywhere isn't it"? not gonna say it. nnnnot gonna say it. ]

The imps are the most common, but other than that, it really depends on where you are. The worst creatures are in the north, around Caer Scima.

[ fitting, really, that they're all in unseelie territory. ]

The north? I'll have to review my map. [ He doesn't need to, but he doesn't want to lead on that he knows that's near where he is. ] Do they protect anything important?

voice;

[sangilak]

Just their territories, but they're pretty vicious.

voice;

[admirably]

[ Right, so, best to avoid them. Unless they can be commanded - but he'll worry about that later. ]

And the war itself? Is it vicious as well?

[ Wars aren't always fought on the battlefield, and some are bloodier than others. ]

[ ... what a good question to ask at exactly the wrong (or right?) time. see, mako kinda took a chainsaw to the stomach and while he didn't die, he came very close to it.

korra always took this "war" thing seriously, but this battle — and this injury — proves that she's way into unfamiliar space here. she has to adapt and fast. ]

That all depends on who you're fighting.

[ He's hit a nerve, but not in a way that's ticked her off at him, at least. Which is good, because her reaction - even the change he can hear in her tone - intrigues him. ]

I'm sorry, princess. If you'd rather not talk about it, I understand. War can be devastating.
