Video of A Memory

It's a rather peaceful scene that appears in the locket. Woods filled with the sounds of nature and mushrooms that might make you grow or perhaps shrink. In the middle of these woods sits Will, waiting and clearly worrying over something that is beyond his control. This is a Will who still has his heart and still feels as deeply as anyone can who has found true love. A rustle of leaves and his excitement shows, only for his smile to fall as he sees who appears: The Queen of Hearts.

"Will Scarlet I presume?"

Their interaction doesn't last long, but her words have rebroken a heart that had nearly mended at the idea of being reunited with his love. Whatever hope he had was taken from him and the pain that he feels is simply too much. The idea comes to him in a flash. The Queen of Hearts alone has the ability to fix what she broke and so he asks:

"I know what you do. I know what you do to people's hearts; I want you to do that to me."

It's a request born of pain and desperation. Now heartless, Will is off to become the man he is in this world.

[Everyone had it in them to hurt someone else, and Javik was just suspicious by nature. Still, Maglor's moods were fickle, and nothing ill had come of it.]

As it should be. I do not fault you for your decision in the least.

Not what most have been sayin'. You're sort not the type to dwell on emotions, or are you just a special case?

There was a time in my life when companionship meant something to me, though perhaps not in the same way as you. The enemy turned my crew against me, and I killed every one of them before they could kill me. I could no longer fight for them, or for honor, or for duty or any other noble ideal. All that was left was revenge, and I chose to forget their faces and their names so that I may never falter in my mission. Mercy is weakness, and in war you must have no weakness.

[And damn Shepard for encouraging him to look into his memory shard, and see their faces all over again. It might not be quite the same as ripping your heart out, but forgetting did wonders.]

[That was more than he'd ever gotten the alien to say to him and it sure was a lot to take in. Will could understand betrayal, but he'd been lucky enough that his betrayal hadn't ended in anyone's death. No, the deaths in his life had been solely his own doing]

And yet you was all concerned for Mags. Would it make you feel better to know he can't really go anywhere I can't follow?

[It was probably the most he'd ever say to Will, unless alcohol was involved. That would be less insightful, though, and more horrifying.]

I was concerned you'd doomed him, and had the power to do the same to us. Whether you go anywhere separately or together does not affect how I feel about anything.

You do don't really care 'bout Mags, huh?

[Despite what Javik may believe about emotions and attachments, Will thought the alien had some connection to their elf, not that he could be sure it was friendship, at least not yet.]

Don't worry, I ain't evil or none, just...yeah.

[Now he was starting to sound like the quarian, drunkenly going on about how he secretly liked Liara and everyone else. Luckily, he could hang up on Will just as easily as he'd hung up on her. Javik made a short, aggravated sound.]

Good or evil does not factor into this. I... simply wanted to say that I understand your decision.

[So quit trying to make it all awkward about being friends with Maglor, okay.]

[Will's smile is all knowing. He's got your number, Javik]

[So far he's been lectured about what an idiot he was for doing something like that]

We should meet for a drink. Grab House and make a reunion out of it.

The doctor and I shared a drink several weeks ago. [Yes, he's aware that people drink more often than that.] But I am not opposed to the idea.

[Will wondered about Javik and his resistance to attachment, not that Will had much room to talk.]

Next time I'm at the Station I'll ring you two up. Maybe Mags'll come too. Too bad about Daud.

[Being the only surviving member of his race might be one of the reasons.]

His... disappearance was unfortunate. When you are nearby, simply contact us. It will not be difficult to convince the doctor.

[Will would never let the alien live down all that caring he was doing]

[Javik just grunted in response, and that was his goodbye before the locket closed. Trying to be nice always made him grumpier.]
