I expected that there would be more for us to do, if we are indeed here for a war. Not for us to sit and idly wait until these monarchs have need of us.
[ Spoken like someone who doesn't trust them, she has little respect for those who use kidnapping to force others to fight for them. She's not used to this, not having things to do. Despite losing her shield, and the bit with the imps and fae last month - Aveline feels, well. Restless. Unsure of what to do with herself, and she doesn't like it. Might as well try to make something of it. ]
If anyone in Caer Glaem is trained with a sword, I wouldn't mind a partner or two to cross blades with. And if there are those who would like to learn, I'm not against giving you a bit of training, assuming you can provide your own gear. I could honestly do with something other than waiting around for whatever is to happen next.
One last thing, I'm having trouble contacting a friend of mine, in the other castle. Messages have not gone through, I was hoping someone could let me know if they have seen her? Marian Hawke. Short black hair, blue eyes, and a tendency to make terrible jokes at every turn.

Anyone who wants to train with you can get gear in the armory, if they need it. Teaching them how to handle a sword is a good idea; more than I like to think about need it.
audio;
Probably a fair few, I'd imagine. Best not to take chances with this, better to know how to defend oneself and never to need to do so - [ which from the sound of things isn't likely ] than be unprepared.
audio;
[ So you're off to a good start, Aveline. ]
Exactly. And Caer Glaem's already been attacked twice in as many months -- first time by giant worms, second time by Unseelie forces.
audio;
[ Not to impress the monarchs or because she wants to be a part of the war. One out of three isn't bad. ]
... did you just say giant worms?
[ Kirkwall has spiders, this place has worms. Just no end to giant slimy creatures, is there? ]
audio;
audio;
What about the Unseelie. You said they've attacked once.
audio;
Yeah. [ He sighs. ] They used magic to disguise themselves and get in the castle. Lit lots of fires and let a giant bear wreck shit.
audio;
That... sounds thrilling.
audio;
[ Snort. ] It was certainly something.
voice.
[ A pause, then he hesitates. People leaving already, hm? ]
I have not seen your friend, my lady, but I will ask my fellows.
voice.
[ she's used to training guards, teaching... but doesn't want that to be her only form of practice. ]
Thank you. If it seems she has gone home, it would not be quite so bad. She can do far greater good there than here, but I would just like to know for sure.
voice.
[ Small suggestions. He would offer himself but he thinks himself not quite practised enough yet. It has been a long time since he sparred for more than sport. ]
I would speak to the people of her court and ask them to check her room. If her things are no longer there then, perhaps, she has returned to her home.
voice.
[ well, obviously there are but she hasn't yet met them so. fair question. ]
Perhaps. She was not the only one I knew in that court, but I believe he too may have been sent back.
[ regardless, she'll try to find Hawke, and Anders. ]
voice.
[ He is still smiling to himself, a tone filled with cheer and a kindness all the same. ]
I wonder if, perhaps, they have simply abandoned their lockets. It is a shame we cannot simply ride for a few days to visit friends and allies.
voice.
A shame indeed. Anders... possibly, it's a possibility he's abandoned or lost his, but Hawke... no, I think she'd know better if it's the only means of communication we have at the time.
voice.
Then I hope your friend has found her way home. I am sure it would do her well.
voice.
[ It's not as if she wants them all here, but more so to go home herself. But there is a part that does wish they would show since that doesn't seem to be happening. It feels selfish, but Aveline can't help it. ]
As do I.
voice.
[ he thinks of margaery and almost sighs. she is lovely and he is more than aware of why he marries her, but... ]
Have no fear.
voice.
You're probably right. They're capable, after all. [ it's just hard for her not to worry, the not knowing part bothers her.
But anyways. ]
That sounds complicated.
voice.
[ He doesn't look entirely put off by it, though, simply offering a smile and nodding his head in an easy acceptance. He's had a few months to get used to the idea, after all. ]
I have been told many things of my future and that is hardly the most startling.
voice.
[She who speaks has a young voice, fair and high, and saddled with a little bundle of nerves.]

[ it's been ages since sharpe has (himself) worked the recruiting circuit. but he feels a certain thrill seep back into his bones when he considers the challenge of convincing these castle-dwellers to take up a mission with him. and no, he might not normally have asked just any woman who claimed herself capable but...
ah, well. he was feeling curious. and it isn't as though sharpe's never seen a woman handle herself well behind a sword. so long as they proved themselves as readily as his men did, what did he care in the longest run? ]

I am. Not quite used to having so much spare time on my hands.

[ she's not bragging or trying to be rude. but she knows how to use it, and well. ]
Why do you ask?

[ miss seems a little too gentle for a woman who carries a sword. ] And looking for more of us who might be keen to...come together, like.

And I'll gladly tell you. [ but not over these lockets. ] ...You hungry?
[ in any other world in any other context this might sound like a bad attempt at picking up. but no. sharpe is merely clumsy at all this secrecy. ]
voice »
[ That throws her off guard.. it's lucky that pick up lines (or what sounds like them) can still at times go over her head. ]
Sure, I suppose. Did you want to discuss it over food?
voice »
I hate these lockets.

Where are you? I'll meet you.
