third bull ( video )

[She hefts a rather large looking book onto the table in front of her, a bright smile laid upon her face.]

It seems my fortune that the High Queen of the Seelie Court has granted me a skill of this kingdom. I've been given an old tome of the previous potion master here, and while I have no knowledge of magic not witchcraft it seems my interest in alchemy, poisons, and antidotes may transcend realms.

[A hand smooths over pages as she begins to turn.]

I wish to do whatever I can to help those here, to both protect myself and do what I can for those who cannot. But as I said I've no great skill in magic. I have already met one kind witch here, and I must call upon the kindness of others to guide me. I will not squander this gift.

If there be any in either court with any knowledge in potion making, I would wish to speak with you. My thanks. [It's a noble bending of her head before she leans in to switch the feed off.]

[Give him a few minutes to connect the dots here.]

Goodness.

My apologies for asking inane questions, miss (or what is the correct term of address for someone in your position? It's unique and I've had no prior experience.)
gordianknots: I'm not one to rage against the scene (We excel at drama)

Ah, there's that concern alleviated then. It's 2016 for me, back in England.

Noted for the future, and at least our manners are equally lacking. Lord El-Melloi II. I'm a professor of chemistry back home, so professor is an equally valid term of address.
gordianknots: So fix your sad eye on someone worthier (Don't know bout us but I know bout them)

Titles have a lot of currency here, I've learned, and with so many different worlds being dropped into the same place, asking for clarification has proven the much safer route than making errors which could cost favour.

To return to your actual inquiry: I expect your court's respective library probably has some elementary/introductory texts, which might be where to start. Knowing the theory etc. involved first would likely assist in making sense of the prior potions master's work.
