[Hey, look at that. A step in the right direction. He was learning not to open his posts to the side that he was supposed to be fighting. And killing, if her royal glowiness had anything to say about it. Color him not impressed.

But, he was mentally digressing, the locket held in his hand and panned around his brand new shiny wizard's room.

He made sure to get everything in his little scan, showing off what looked like a chemistry set over on the table there and that glowing ball thing that hw as kind of avoiding because scary and everything that was just too cool for school about this room.]

Isn't this great? They gave me a room, totally warded and everything so I don't have to worry about causing earthquakes or setting anyone on fire. Well, outside of it. I could probably still set myself on fire. I'm trying to avoid that. Look, it even has my name on the door.

[Cue him going over and opening the door to show the stylized plaque that was adhered to the door with his name on it.]

Still not entirely impressed with being kidnapped and not being able to go home and the whole trying to kill me stuff, but this... goes a tiny way to making it better. Just a little bit. Ooh, look at this.

[The locket panned back over to a coat rack, where he'd hung up the cloak he'd found when he'd come in at first. It was a dark, dark red that had shimmery silver highlights when he moved it.]

I got a cloak. They're trying to make me a pretty pimp wizard. Hey, hey Radagast. Would that make me Stiles the Red?

[Have a beaming teenager as he turns the pendant around so he can grin into it.]

[ well you'd think it'd be obvious with a name like that but... ]

Um... because it's a preserve. It's to preserve the wildlife so that there's a safe place for them and we don't kill everything off into extinction.

[ to extinction? how is that even a problem? as far as sansa's aware, the only things that go extinct in westeros are dragons and houses.

but she tries to be polite, afraid she's already tried his patience with one too many questions: ] If I'm imagining it correctly, it seems it must be a beautiful place.

Hah, well... I think your imagination is probably painting it way nicer than it is. I mean, here is nice naturally; there's not a lot of pollution or garbage or manmade stuf to dirty up the area. But my world has its nice spots and cities can be pretty if you're a fan of architecture. North American cities might not have the same sort of artistic allure as say, Rome or Greece.

Have you been to any of them? These cities?

Well, sure, yeah. They're kind of everywhere. Uh, I guess you could say that we have a bit of a population control problem where I'm from. Not too many places in the U.S. that don't have cities or towns in them.

I have spent some time in King's Landing -- [ this is a revision. an addition to the original lie, for alayne stone had never set foot in that city. but she's starting to understand how much can be gotten away with when her conversation partner knows so little about westeros. ] It's...a very very big city.

Yeah? Well, then you have some idea. But think of like, a King's Landing, and then not that far away, there's another one. And another one. And another one.

...That sounds a little like far too many King's Landings.

[ what a hateful place. she wonders if every city must be so bad. ]

Well, yeah, but they wouldn't all be called that. That's kind of what my world's like. One big city in the middle with suburbs sprawling out from it until it tangles up with the next city. There's not a whole lot of unpopulated land in the United States. The bits that are still wild are mostly preserves and national parks.

[ it sounds...confounding. confusing. bewildering. overwhelming. she has to ask: ] Do you like your world, Stiles?

[ because she feels she wouldn't. ]

Of course I do. I know it sounds... weird the way I'm trying to explain it, but it's my world, you know? And there's a bunch of things that make it easier than trying to live somewhere like here. Lots of pros and cons, because all that easiness has sort of ruined a lot of things. But I love the internet and seven-eleven and water parks.

[ she shows such utter glee at actually knowing a noun he references. except...except in her mind she thinks of water gardens. pretty places with placid pools and fat fish and stony bridges. romantic ideals. ]

Do you? Well, see? How can you not like water slides, huh? Best invention ever, aside from cheesy nachos.

...Surely, you mean waterfalls.

[ water slides! what a silly name for what must indeed be a waterfall...right? ]

Well, sure, there's water falling down them-- oh, wait. Are you thinking of something like... an actual park? Like some sort of watery garden and stuff?

No, no. Nooooo. Waterparks are like, places you go to swim and be a jerk and there's these huge slides you go down that are tunnels or have huge drops. It's great.

[He was such a boy.]

[ ...the fact that be a jerk is on that list--! ]

Stiles. It sounds frightening when you say it like that.

No way, it's great! Maybe I'll see about doodling you up a... a map or something. Or a drawing of what it is. You know what a slide is, right? They have those in ye olden days, right?

I know the action. [ except not for recreation. things slid: goods, down gangplanks. heels on ice. tears down cheeks. ]

Huh. Okay. Um... Imagine a plank set up on an angle, about eight to ten feet from top to bottom. And it's smoothed down and made of metal or plastic and kids sit at the top and slide down to the bottom. That's like, a regular slide in a playground.

A waterslide is like... that times a million. They can be a hundred feet tall and do spirals and loop de loops and there's water going down them the whole time and you land in a pool at the end and it's awesome.

I'm...I'm sorry. It still sound rather frightful. And dangerous. Is it dangerous?

Enh, depends on how stupid the person going down it is. If you just slide and enjoy it, you're good, but some people...

Some people are special and do stupid things.

[ the way stiles tells it, his world seems filled with half-wits. ]

It's a shame there are none here. I would like to...see one. [ not use one, though. nope. she can understand bravery in the face of ice-bridges and treacherous mountain descents. but to happily go down these contraptions? no. ] Or else I will wait upon that...doodle you offered.

[Oh, sweet summer child, if only you knew...]

Hey, maybe someone could make one. I bet the fairies would like it, too. But I can try drawing something up. I'm not the, ah, best artist, though. No laughing at my stick figures.
