[This entry, Galadriel doesn't waste time with introductions or formalities, instead jumping directly into her question- a bad sign for someone normally so verbose. Her words are clipped- short, direct, precise, and to the point.]

Are there any here who have experience with some manner of [a little pause] an enchanted sleep? I have heard of such things, but I will admit that I have never had dealings with them myself.

[The reason for this question can be seen in background- a silver-haired woman sleeping soundly in one of the rooms available for travelers at the Station. Galadriel turns to glance back at her before continuing, the worry she has kept from her tone plainly evident in her eyes.]

I would also ask if there are any who know something of what becomes of those who disappear from this world. I know that it has occurred before, but it seems strange, does it not, to find a shard in place of the person who has left? We were told that these emerge only when one is near to death- [And that is why she's fretting about Elrond's disappearance too. She stops talking then and frowns at the locket, apparently deciding that she's said enough to make her point.]

Kind of a relief that it ain't all that uncommon.

[ There's a flicker of his gaze to the form behind her. Ah. ]

Didn't realize. I can see the resemblance, though.

[She places a hand on Celebrian's shoulder.] I have been told that we look much alike. There is a great deal of her father in her also.

You look about the same age.

[ TACT?? WHAT IS?? ]

[A flicker of amusement] We are of the Eldar; we do not age as Men do. Rest assured, I am several thousand years her elder.

... So, like... angels?

To answer, first I must ask you to tell me something of these 'angels.' The term is strange to me.

[noflying]

First thing God created, they say. Beings of light.

[ Scary sonuvabitches at times, but he's going to keep that to himself. ]

I am flattered by the comparison, then. But I should not say that we are beings of light; some of us have been touched by the Light of the Two Trees, true, but we are flesh and blood, just as surely as are your people.

Two Trees?

[ what??? ]

Yeah, we're flesh and blood.

[Another slight smile. If that last bit had him staring, she might just accidentally break his brain with this one.] Telperion and Laurelin, the Two Trees of Valinor, which illuminated the world before the creation of the sun and moon.

[ what's a valinor ]

Didn't think there was a world before the sun and the moon. But I'm no scientist. Not a preacher, neither.

I cannot speak of your world, but mine most certainly existed; I remember those days well.

[noflying]

[ he is not drunk enough for this ]

Weren't even any animals when the world was created, back home.

I am not quite so old as to remember the creation of the world itself. There was a time, it is said, before the Eldar and before all the creatures of Arda, but my people know little of it.

[noflying]

No. Think you'd have to be God, to remember that.

[inafadingcrown]

[Or the Valar, but that's probably getting into a discussion that would be more complex than even she cares for.] Eru Ilúvatar, my people call him. [She wonders if he has power even here. She think so. But it's difficult to be certain.]

[noflying]

What's that mean? [ It's clearly a different language, so... obviously it has to mean something. Right? ]

[In this case, he's right.] 'Eru' is 'the One,' roughly, and 'Ilúvatar' would translate to 'Father of All.'

Sounds like what most folk call our God, too.
