[Sigrid is looking fairly haggard and pale. Behind her is the rugged green wilderness surrounding the Station, though the Station itself is not in sight.]

I'm in the middle of nowhere at all and I've got a bad leg. I couldn't find my locket and I had to ask a thrush to find it for me. A thrush. I'm talking to thrushes and they answer me. Anyway I need help. The thrush said he'd go and find someone, but I don't know who he meant. Does anyone know if thrushes are wise birds or silly birds? If he brings back a bear or something, I've got to hide now.

[She immediately feels bad for complaining. Thranduil carried her over a mile in his own arms while his unicorn toddled behind them. But she had to blow off some of the steam that's been building up, and it feels good to have some of her frustration validated.]

I don't know. I shouldn't've complained. He carried me back in his own arms.

[She tucks a loose curl of hair back into a braid that's been falling out for some hours now.]

But it makes me that much more indebted to him, how he did it. I'm not used to be rescued so often and I'm very bad at it.

[Now that much is suspicious. He brought a beast of burden knowing it would not bear her, and then carried her in his own arms? The conclusion Jon's mind jumps to is that the Elvenking had arranged it so Sigrid had little choice but to allow herself be borne up by him, for however long the journey had taken. Which seems strange to him, as Thranduil is far and away comely enough that surely he need not resort to trickery to find the attention of young maids, if that was what he sought. A title such as King was nothing easily ignored either, not by maid nor by crone nor man either.

But Jon doesn't say that out loud, he only thinks it - rather uncharitably, as it were.]

This place is full of strange things, no man could hope to see them all and need no aid. [A pause.] Have you been asked for anything in return?

He's not copped any feels yet, [she responds dryly. Do elves even have sex? She's really not sure.] He's a friend to my father, but there's things they say about him where I'm from. Some of them are true and some aren't, and I don't always know which are which. But he's very dangerous, like running into a bear in the woods. Not evil, just very dangerous. Not the kind of dangerous you meant, but something just as bad. It's all a matter of having him on your side or not.

[Oh, that changes things. A willingness to honor old loyalties had seemed more in keeping with Jon's first impression of the Elvenking, in any case. Though, the danger...] Do you know how far afield you have been borne off to? My lord father will likely ride for you, especially if you do not wish to stay in your current company.

I'm at the Station, so it's no good. But your father said he knew someone who could help get me back quick. I've got a good healer here who knows what he's doing and it seems best to stay with him till I'm fit to walk again.

How is your leg doing?

Fine. It doesn't even hurt anymore. The healer put a thing on it. How's Ghost?

[He's not sure what a thing is, but it sounds... good at least? He gives a cautious, small smile.] He's getting fatter, I think. Despite my best efforts. [That's nonsense, Jon spoils him.]

[~~This seems to be a common problem for Jon.~~ What else needs to be said? A thing was put on and it doesn't hurt anymore and that's the point of the story.]

What do you feed a direwolf, anyway? Or do you let him roam out and hunt?

[Hey sometimes Jon just needs to know things!!]

Any meat, he'll take. Sometimes he'll go out to hunt for himself, when he gets the urge to, but sometimes he'll sit beneath the table and winkle dinner right off the plates of unsuspecting folk with his big baleful eyes.

I'd've been wary he'd take a hand off. He's as big as my horse, or near to.

[But all huge animals seem rather nerve-wracking and excessive to Sigrid.]

[Jon winces, remembering with a sudden clarity their first meeting. A good number of people here had been strangely bold about the direwolf, and his men at the Wall had grown accustomed to Ghost, so much so that Jon sometimes forgets how terrifying he can be to strangers.] I won't call him gentle, but neither does he do that sort of thing without cause. [He ducks his head. He had apologized at the time, but...] I am yet sorry how he treated you, at that feast.

Why? All he did was ask for food. Big animals make one nervous, that's all.
