[Sigrid is looking fairly haggard and pale. Behind her is the rugged green wilderness surrounding the Station, though the Station itself is not in sight.]

I'm in the middle of nowhere at all and I've got a bad leg. I couldn't find my locket and I had to ask a thrush to find it for me. A thrush. I'm talking to thrushes and they answer me. Anyway I need help. The thrush said he'd go and find someone, but I don't know who he meant. Does anyone know if thrushes are wise birds or silly birds? If he brings back a bear or something, I've got to hide now.

[When she turns back, Jack is basically gone. Well. He's just peeking into the locket now.]

I can't believe I fell for it! [Seriously, Jack may as well be a magician. Suddenly Sigrid is acting her age.]

Now if you were a bear, and I'd said "Look! Honey!" and the bear behaved thusly, you'd buy time! You could run.

You could run, were your leg not all damaged and such. [Because there WAS that, after all. Ugh. It was uncomfortable, this feeling of pity. So distracting.]

I don't think it would work, somehow. Not unless the bear spoke your language, anyway.

Bears understand the international language of pointing. I have it on good authority.

Now then: have you anything to drink and or keep you warm whilst you wait?

[Sigrid laughs again, then shakes her head.]

No, but I've got help coming soon. I'll be fine, promise.

Lovely! When your hero sweeps you back to safety, you might try to practice your "look!" trick on him or her. Just to get exceptionally good at it. You might never know when it'll come in handy, lass.

[At least she was more smiley-laughy now. He felt less badly about not doing anything else to really help her out.]
