[VIDEO] 9 April [SEELIE] A Call to Arms [OPEN]

[ The video is aimed largely past the speaker, to the twichting-writhing forms of three snake-like horned-creatures, the crackles of electricity still racing across their scales as they move. The locket is likely proper up on a rock or tree somewhere, as the speaker is turned to face the worms, his arms up and tattoos glowing electricity crackles from his hands. He is standing on land near a small river-stream near farmsteads. ]

Attention.

I am Kaldur’ahm, recently brought here with the rest of you. I was exploring the rivers and streams nearby and found that several had been blocked by these creatures, and that they were attacking the farms homesteads.

[ One of the worms seems to recover from the temporary paralysis, and lunges towards Kaldur, who leaps away and grasps two devices firmly in his hands. He jumps up again slams downwards on its tail with a water-formed spiked mace, inadvertently severing part of the tip from the worm. He bats the rest of the worm back further away and continues. ]

I am requesting assistance. Several of the civilians have been bitten, and are displaying signs of being in a critical condition due to the creature’s venom. I have been attempting to combat these worms for a few hours, and they grow more resistant to my electric paralyzation with each attempt I try.

[ The severed tail-end starts wriggling violently, and he forms a sledgehammer to knock it back several yards, closer to the still-paralyzed worms. ]

They are quick to regenerate from severed pieces, like echinoderms.

I need those who can help me combat these creatures and those who can help transport the injured to the castle, as well as individuals to help care for those injured by the worms.

Then what is it?

[ Confusion turned to slight annoyance. Allison turns fully, raising her eyebrows. ]

[altercate]

Good advice.

[ because when in doubt, fall back to sarcasm rather than genuine emotion. ]

[overdraws]

[ She scoffs, just a little. ] From you?

[altercate]

Is that so hard to believe?

[ questions that really shouldn't be asked. what kind of answer can he even expect to get? ]

[overdraws]

Coming from you? Maybe. [ She presses her lips together in a thin line. ]

[altercate]

It shouldn't be.

[ because only derek disregards an entire relationship of animosity when it suits him, and he just wants this one thing, this one warning. he threw himself bodily over chris argent to protect him, fought at allison's side. it's harder to be completely detached now, to pretend it doesn't matter to him if she's safe. ]

[overdraws]

[ But it is. They've fought side by side, almost made amends -- Derek was the one who made Scott admit he'd lied by omission to her, and it was Derek who stood beside her against the Oni when they came for Stiles. Tey've worked together more often than not, and there's far, far, less animosity than there had been before. It's still there, though.

Allison fixes him with a look, eyes narrowed, completely skeptical. ] You... tried to kill my best friend, blamed me for things my grandfather did, and then ran with your sister when Scott and Isaac needed you the most. You're not exactly a paragon of good advice.

[altercate]

[ allison lays out his sins like derek is unaware of them, like it's possible for him to forget. he shakes his head, dismissive. ]

Just listen to what I said, Allison.

[ because he doesn't want to argue the point. they're supposed to be fighting, not having the world's messiest reunion, though letting her out of his sight might take more than he'd intended it to. ]

Stay alive is good advice, even coming from me.

[overdraws]

I'm aware. [ And it comes out snippy, more heated than it probably should. Like he's blaming her for what happened, like it was her fault. ] It's not like I'm exactly planning on dying.

[altercate]

No one plans on it.

[ sharply, his expression darkening. this wasn't supposed to be about him, even if derek's terrible at not projecting his own issues onto everyone else. ]

[overdraws]

Then telling me not to is kind of pointless, isn't it.

[altercate]

[ he just glares at her for a long moment, then shakes his head. he doesn't know how to do this, how to do this the right way. it would have been better with scott or isaac as a go between. he and allison do better with a buffer between them. ]

I'm telling you to be careful. And that I'm watching your back.

[ before he would have followed it up with so don't put an arrow in mine, but that's not the point of this conversation. ]

[overdraws]

[ She swallows, looks away, and then looks back. ] And I've got yours. Okay?

[altercate]

Fine.

[ long-suffering, like he's doing her a favor because gracefully accepting anything isn't in derek's nature. but he nods, some of the aggression falling out of his stance, the set of his shoulders. ]

[overdraws]

Fine. [ And she relaxes, too, minutely. It's palpable, this semi-unspoken truce between them, and Allison can feel it in the air, fragile and waiting to break at the slightest provocation. ]

[altercate]

[ derek lets the silence hang before he nods and walks away, leaves it there rather than risk upsetting the balance they've managed to strike. it's something. progress, a beginning. something like that. ]

[overdraws]

Hey! [ She calls after him. ] Thanks.

[altercate]

Don't mention it.

[ he calls back, and he really, really means that. but he doesn't stop walking. derek's through here, for the moment. ]
