korra would've totally won within minutes if she'd been able to use her best friend for help, but pride wouldn't let her.

but now here she is, about three days later, visibly frustrated but letting it only last for a few seconds, perking up when she finally gets the locket to work. ]

Hey, who wants to help me play a game! [ despite her broad grin, this game is super not physically demanding. really!! ] See, I lost someone, and for the past three days I've been trying to find him, but, heh, I guess he's a better hider than I thought.

[ behind her, the giant polar beardog lets out a sigh, her tail thumping lazily on the floor. ]

What? [ korra turns to face the massive animal, who picks her head up, letting out a half-bark. ] Naga, you know the rules. I can't ask you for help, but Bilbo didn't say I couldn't ask everyone else...

[ naga just fixes korra with a look that says "you're doing it again" before placing her chin on her paws. ]

... Yeah, well, no one asked you. [ and so korra turns back to the locket, still pushing a grin. ] If you wanna help me find him, he's about—um... [ she lifts a hand to her stomach... lower... hip... ah... fuck it!! ] He's really short and he's got this curly hair and really hairy feet. He kinda... looks? like a kid? But don't call him that because he's really a grumpy old man and he's kinda sensitive about that.

[ and with that, korra nods once and ends the feed!! she and naga are going to be around everywhere in the castle looking for bilbo, so if you'd like to action in this post, go right ahead!! ]

Uh huh! I've had her since she was a puppycub.

A puppycub?

[ She nearly laughs as she says it. Always a visual person, Alice is quick to picture her smaller. ]

I bet she was very small and cute as a... puppycub.

[ korra laughs to match alice, finding it infectious. ]

I don't think Naga was ever small, but she was definitely an armful as a baby. [ her grin widens just a little. ] I found her when she was lost from her family and wandering the tundra. I brought her home and she never left.

[ reaching over to naga now, scratching her behind the ears. ]

[ Still. For Alice's gloom, she loves animals, it makes her brighten up. ]

That's terrible, but I'm happy to see she's found you! There's always an unfortunate amount of strays out there. Even of that stature.

[ She assumes that Naga must be frightening to others, but not her. ]

[ and alice would assume right. there's only been one polar beardog tamed in the history of the southern water tribe, and that's naga here! ]

My parents weren't too happy when I brought her home, but I couldn't just let her stay out there and die.

[ oh, ouch... she sorta misses her parents now 8( ]

[ For all the people she's talked to insofar, Korra actually makes her happy to socialize. ]

My name is Alice Liddell.

[ omg alice, you precious thing. come here and let korra big sister you. ]

Alice, huh? That's a weird name. [ KORRA!!! RUDE!! ] ... Then again, given all the people I've met, I'm sure my name sounds weird to you too.

[ God damn it, first Feanor, now her. ]

[ JUST GOING TO IGNORE THAT, THERE'S A FLUFFY ANIMAL HERE. ]

It's a name, names are not weird. They all have meanings, no matter what they sound like.

[ It sounds weird, but Alice is not going to say it out right, since Feanor has left her a little huffy about it. ]

[ korra holds her hands up, looking slightly apologetic. ]

Woah—ho, hey! Sorry, didn't mean to hit a sore subject.

[ really!! it's just that alice doesn't sound anything like "mako," "bolin," "tenzin" or, well, any other asian-inspired name that names up her universe. ]

It's fine, no harm done.

[ It's not as bad as explaining that your name means "of nobility" to an elf and said elf says it's nowhere near as such. Alice is going to irritated for a while. ]

[ see, korra would actually find that pretty exciting, seeing as the characters that make up her name mean "handle of an axe" and "pull/extension". it's a good strong name for her, but it's not as pretty as "asami" or "alice."

korra feels herself lapse into momentary awkwardness, still not... 100% on the whole "socializing" thing (but she's learning!), and thankfully, naga tends to help with that, getting to her feet and walking over to korra so that she can press her cold nose to the locket, as though trying to sniff out alice.

she chuckles, rubbing naga behind the ears. ]

Hey girl, you wanna say hi? Say hi to Alice!

[ after a few more seconds of snuffling, naga sits back on her haunches and lets out a wuffling bark, ears perking up. ]

[ Oh, no, animals. Alice's one true weakness, even as a child. A rare, soft smile comes across Alice's face as she seems very gracious to even have this interaction with Naga. Even over the lockets. Her fur is white as clouds and likely just as soft! Does that sound strange. Sheepishly, Alice gives a soft wave -- it's awkward to wave over a locket.]

Hello, Miss Naga, you're very pretty!
