Hullo, I'm Harry. I'm an Auror, from Britain. If your world doesn't have those, it's a sort of wizard that's a cross between an officer of the peace and a soldier.

[There's a tilt to his chin that suggests he is fully aware how young he is and has a voice choice words for anyone that would like to register a complaint about his chosen profession.]

I was thinking that I'd like to get to know everyone a little better and that I'm sure each of us has some unique or interesting thing they can do or teach. Either a language, a craft, or even just a bar trick you can use to get a free pint.

Using this. ( Clary holds up a small item that doesn't look too different from a wand, though it's white in color. It's crafted from a material called adamas, which is a heavenly metal manipulated into weapons only by a holy faction known as the Iron Sisters. ) It's called a Stele. It can be used on other materials, but as far as living creatures go... It only works on Shadowhunters. At least, safely. ( She shudders at the thought of what it does to normal humans; to mundanes. ) The designs themselves were given names and meanings by the Angel that created my race. And -- ... By me. I've created some myself.

[ Harry assumes she's not going to mind chatting about it, but if she does, he's happy to talk about something else. ]

One that makes you fearless... One that binds you to a member of another species, to make you stronger... One that doesn't just open, it -- well, honestly, it ripped a giant ship open, so... ( She shrugs slightly. )

How do you invent them? I mean, is the magic in the curves of the symbol or what you believe, or...?

I - ( You know... ) I'm actually not sure about the mechanics. I'm sure it's a mix of everything. The stele that they're drawn onto the skin with is made from Adamas -- it's a heavenly metal. That, combined with the meanings the angel has taught in the Grey Book - which is the book of runes that have existed for as long as Shadowhunters have - create the power, I suppose. Well. Once they're drawn on the intended object. Usually Shadowhunter skin. And I guess our angelic blood is what makes them work for us. The ones that appear to me -- Um... It's kind of a long story, actually. And not exactly fun.
