smithwork: he could be free ✈ (makes a bluebird aware)

[ It's sunset when the feed flicks on from the locket fixed to the front of Toothless's saddle, the view one of the Night Fury's head and beyond that, a tower in the middle of being constructed. It's already massive, the scale of which can be gleaned from the way Toothless's wings are beating loudly against a strong wind (THUMP, THUMP, THUMP!) over Hiccup's yelling and the ground, moreover, being nowhere in sight. The black spire is a monolith lit from within by the fires of those who currently dwell there, mostly builders. ]

Guys, I'm not saying that we Unseelie are in the habit of making gigantic, super-imposing towers that radiate a general sense of evil, but c'mon. Seriously! These things are insane, is anyone else almost flying into them? And did Morla hire stone-masons whose entire work ethic is devoted to Tall, Dark and Threatening? This is less 'keeping the peace' than 'come near us and we'll shoot you in the face'. I just, wow, we get together for so many parties and then these things are suddenly the answer? Gah.

[ He barks at the workers while swooping around the unfinished scaffolding atop the spire, the wind rushing under wide black wings. ]

Put up some night-lights, guys, you're gonna kill someone with that thing!

[ Off goes the feed. Around a half-hour later, it flicks on again to show the White Citadel north of Eaglais which is also under construction. This time, Hiccup unhooks the locket from its casing in the saddle and he and Toothless land on a rocky crag so they can both be seen. His helmet is briefly removed, hair shaken free. ]

Now, this, this is more what we should be aiming for. Looks pleasant, welcoming, less 'approach at your mortal peril'. Even though that thing is Seelie-made, I think we're going to make a pass over it and see what's happening. Maybe say Hi to the folks down below. Casually mend a few tensions between them and the workers at the spires, possibly. Who knows, it's a mystery. [ Hiccup rolls his eyes. ] While I've got everyone's attention, can I ask to speak to Bran Stark, please? Also, Jack, call me so I know you haven't gone face-first into one of the new spires, I know how you like to fly with your eyes closed sometimes. Oh, and, lastly! Does anyone have a compass I can borrow? I busted mine up during a rough landing lately.

Okay, bud, let's take a closer look at that thing!

[ Helmet donned once more, Toothless shoots into the sky before Hiccup can reattach the locket, giving everyone on the network a particularly gut-wrenching view of the world being thrown off-kilter before he smartly snaps it shut while shooting over a waterfall. ]

[Maleficent appears to be at the Falls as she makes one of her rare broadcasts, seeming to also be calling from her nest. Interwoven branches and greenery were her background and her soundtrack seemed to be the echo of the Falls interspersed with birdsong.]

Greetings to those who bear a shard and dwell within this land. For those not familiar with me, my name is Maleficent and I reside at the Hidden Falls to the southeast of Caer Glaem. I'm sure that by now we've all heard the... call to arms, as it were. I've made no secret of my desire to keep myself out of this war that I have no stock in. Fairy fighting against fairy is... well, it's an abomination. If those that reside here wish to clash their clans together, that's their prerogative, but that was not what I agreed to when I arrived.

I know there are others here who share my thoughts on this. Who wish not to fight or make war with those they might be friendly with -- or even related to. Asking blood to fight against blood is another cause I cannot support.

So I would offer the Falls as a safe haven of sorts to all those who would wish it. Seelie and Unseelie alike. Those that wish to pick up arms and join the fight, I only hope that little blood is shed. Those who have no heart for war or who do not know where to go, you are welcome here. There is no keep and no castle, but the climate is temperate and you are welcome to make a place for yourself here as you need it. All I ask is that you respect the lives of those that live here as well and do not cause strife or discord while here.

[With that, she gave a slight nod of her head, a signal that her address had reached its end and she waited for those that might accept it.]

[ The feed comes into focus on the background, before it's picked up by the user of the locket. A stern woman -- not one seen in a long time appears in the foreground. She nods, brushes a strand of hair from her face. ]

Greetings. I can't say that the timing of my arrival here has been... kind. But seeing as I have been here for a few weeks and it looks that I will not be going anywhere again -- I have no wish to sit idly. I was a leader before, Captain of the Guard of the city I served in. Even if I am not so by name here, for this effort I thought I had best help as I can.

[ Even if she does not entirely agree with the idea of the war -- and getting involved. ]

My name is Aveline Hendyr, and I was here before. Much has seemed to have changed in the time that I was away, however.

Another thing. I offered to teach any interested parties residing in the Seelie castle defense before, to train with a sword -- or to anyone who is already knowledgeable and wishes to have someone to practice with -- that offer still stands as well, now.

[ With another nod, she switches the feed off. ]

[ As it's still early in the day, Rin's at The Barrel finishing up her packing. The past couple days have been busy, full of codes being cracked and opinions being shattered thanks to Lady Alyosha's information. Now that she's had a chance to look outside, she notices something has gone missing. So popping her locket open on her desk, she continues to sort through her precious gems and minerals while addressing everyone at whole. ]

Hey, it's Tohsaka here.

Has anyone seen a boat? [ She visibly cringes with a quartz in hand at how vague of a question that is. ] It isn't very large, has a brightly multicolored sail, and was a gift from the monarchs. Overall it's a very nice boat.

[ Only Rin Tohsaka can lose an entire boat that was previously in her back yard. Revel in her misfortune or don't. Maybe help her locate the stupid thing. That would be a lot more helpful than laughing at her. ]

I figured with how many of us are traveling for the holidays and various other reasons that someone was bound to see it. So could you just let me know?

There's no reward because it's just a stupid boat. It unsettles me that it's gone missing, but if someone wants to hold it hostage, don't expect me to actually pay anything for it. Thanks, I guess. [ This is the last thing she needed before heading out!! ]
