[ immediately post-feast, yes, because that's the responsible thing to do. the whole scenting thing is still a work in progress, but she hasn't smelled anything even remotely familiar since she got here, nothing she wants to put much thought into at least. not yet. because hey, maybe she didn't smell her not-dad during that big feast. it's possible she just smelled some- burnt turkey! yeah. same thing, really! ( yeah, wow, she's bad at making up excuses, even to herself. Peter Hale does not smell like burnt turkey. ) but anyway, now she's fussing with the locket, because it doesn't matter how out of touch she was with technology a few months ago, she can tell when something ( the locket, in this case ) is trying to get her attention like a cellphone would. and then she sees there's messages on there.

good. good start.

if she can't sniff out where she is ( since that map makes no sense to her ), she'll just- ask. it takes her a second to realize the video is recording, but then she notices it's recording and aha! here! have a smile that's kinda like this.
]

So, thanks for the big dinner and all, that was great. Really. Wow. So good. [ is she being sincere enough? no? she's kinda trying! though it's a wonder her face isn't covered in grease and gravy, okay. so charming, this one. but yeahno, she remembered to wipe her face with a napkin after eating, tyvm. progress! ] But I need to get back home now.

So which way is Beacon Hills?

[ and now she'll make a quick shifty-eye ]

-- And where can I find one of those boxes with the lids you can keep food in for later? Just wondering.

[Have a curiously peering fairy, Drabwurld. It's a close up of one oddly colored green eye before it's drawn away and the rest of the face comes into focus, along with the horns and large wings as a backdrop.]

Is this some form of scrying stone? How curious. And I'm to talk into this?

[She turns to look at a pixie, one who's hovering near her head and giving her directions on how to use the locket.]

And one can address everyone this way? Marvelous.

[The pixie tells her that it's on and that currently everyone can see her and she eyes the locket again, wondering at how this particular bit of magic works.]

Greetings. To those that do not know me, my name is Maleficent. I'm curious to see if a girl has wound up here as well. Golden hair, blue eyes, and quite likely charming those around her. Her name is Aurora and if anyone has seen her, I'd very much appreciate being informed of this.

[She looks to be about to turn the locket off, but there's a small twitch of her lips as she begins talking again.]

I suppose I'd also like to be informed if anyone finds a raven who is not a raven. He's incredibly cheeky, but he's also mine.

[And that would be the end of her speech. No need for pleases and thank yous. Someone's clearly used to being obeyed.]

[When the video turns on it might have just been somewhat accidental. She'd asked the fairies how to use it which might not have been all that helpful, really, but she'd figured it out earlier and was now perhaps investigating more. She's a tiny thing, however, and young-- dressed in bright orange and yellow monk garb. When she moves it always seems light and with the wind-- she's definitely fidgity right now.

For a moment she doesn't say anything. She tries to figure out what she wants to say once more. By nature she's a shy one and so it's weird to suddenly address a bunch of people. She definitely knows there's a lot of them, too. She wants to, however, and so she quickly musters up the nerve.]

Hi. I'm Jinora.

[A pause. That's good, right? It's a start. Nice and simple, but she continues on.]

. . . I just arrive here a little while ago. That's okay, 'though, because Korra and some of the others are here. Daddy's not... but that's okay, because he's got lots to do at home right now with everyone. [It is kind of disheartening though, seeing as they'd only just made up. And Kai wasn't here either. She wants to see them both, but really besides that time in the Spirit World she'd always had her father. Her entire family, really. It's just a little nerve wracking.]

I spent a while talking to the fairies! They told me a little about where we're are, but they seemed more interested in playing. They didn't seem mean, they helped me find my friends. [Hm.] But I did have to go to the library to learn more! The library here's definitely one of the biggest I've seen, I could read in there forever. There's a lot to read, but I'll do it.

[She hesitates for just one moment more and pulls a hand to her chin, the uncertain look pulling through as she thinks about it.] But well... [She decides to just say and it speaks up.] The best knowledge comes straight from the people who lived it, so I thought it was a good idea to ask:

Do you guys like it here? Have you seen new things? What sort of new things have you seen? The animals are completely different from ours at home and the fairies aren't anything like we have either. 'Though, they do remind me of spirits a little. Do you travel a lot here? I bet there's a lot of places you can see that would be exciting.

[Do the questions stop? Probably never. But at least she seems to be excited and trying, but there's a more pressing question here and she gets to it soon enough:]

Do you think peace is possible? Isn't there a lot more to do around here then fighting each other? There seems to be tons of things to learn and do so it would be a waste if there wasn't a way to bring peace that way. [Because we don't have to fight. Of course, it's in her nature to be a pacifist. And that's the one thing that's been troubling her. Certainly, she knew about war and there was some-- but being told she was a participant and there was no way around it didn't sit right. She wants to find another way.]

Um. I guess that's what I wanted to ask! If you'd like to answer or just talk I'd like that. We can try being friends, that would be nice, too. I'm not really good at this but it didn't seem like anyone minded that...

[She smiles hopefully! Now that she's no longer rattling off a million questions and her most important one is out she's back to that uncertain shyness and with it she gives a slight wave and shuts off the feed for now. Mission accomplished.]

[There's angry grumbling in a rough Scottish brogue when the feed switches on, muttering words like 'stupid imps' and 'how in the blazes' before the owner of the locket realizes that she's finally got it turned on. The girl in question gives a triumphant 'ahah!' and claps her hand against her wrist so that she doesn't drop her locket.]

Hah! I knew I could get it workin'! [She lets out an excited laugh.] This is just like those weird toilets an' th' water that you don't have to collect from th' streams!

[The screen zooms in before it zooms out when she gives a 'whoops', revealing a girl of about sixteen with a mass of red curls down past her shoulders and bright blue eyes that gleam eagerly. She still looks plenty annoyed at her situation, but at the very least she's relieved that she has contact. The technology baffles her, as does most of the things that she's seen.]

Sorry about that. My name's Merida, firstborn of Clan DunBroch, daughter of Queen Elinor an' Fergus th' Bear King. I've heard an' read about th' fae my whole life but I've only seen Will o th' Wisps.

[Her mother had never said that fae folk would show themselves like they did, kidnapping her from her home, though she has heard stories of faeries swapping their children for human children. Speaking of her mother...]

Er, I don't suppose anyone's seen a bear around here? Wandering upright, actin' all prim an' proper? She's not dangerous [she mutters an 'at least I hope not' under her breath] but if anyone's seen her...

[Who knew how time worked here, but maybe she could ask the High King or High Queen to turn her mother back. Surely faeries would be capable of that, right?]

[for anyone who may have noticed, soon after ben returned to caer glaem from the station, he fell into a slumber for seven days. it takes him about an hour to actually show himself on the network after putting everything back together again. it's early evening. he's showered, at least, but there's a glassy look to his eyes and concern and panic wracking his features that he's trying to reel in. when he speaks, he sounds out of breath, as if he's just woken up.]

I don't got any idea what the hell just happened to me. If someone- if someone could explain how I got home and woke up back here [he runs a hand over his face, shaking his head. is tone has calmed, but he sounds more impatient now:] I gotta go back. I got things I got to to do.

[it's his first day here all over again. he squeezes his eyes shut, then sighs.]

I saw somethin', just before I woke up. Somethin's comin' for us. Somethin' bad.

[he leaves it like that, shutting the locket before he says too much, or says something he'll regret later. he isn't used to talking about his visions. he's not even sure if he should say more, because of the unseelie court, but he doesn't want to completely exclude them. they're not all bad there, he recognizes that.]

( ooc: if any of his cr may have visited him/maybe is there when he wakes up, feel free action that up! you are also free to have your character find him in his room, or out and about the castle. he's most likely getting something to eat after this post! also, i must remind everyone to fill out his permissions! )

[ At first the feed is silent, just showing a small grassy plain. Then, suddenly, there's a quiet little yip and something pops into view -- a puppy, looking more than a little excited, with wings fluttering around it's little body as it moves, barking at the camera (or, rather, who is behind the camera). Eventually it moves, with a scuffling noise, and Hermione's face pops into view, at least until she is mauled by the dog licking at her and clambering to get into her lap. She accepts it with good grace, of course, just laughing and patting at the lovely thing's head. ]

I was given this lovely boy by the faeries today and I have no idea who it's from - it must be a gift because I didn't ask for him, at least not this time. I wanted to say thank you to whoever it was because he's adorable! He's the cutest thing I've ever seen - and I've decided to call him Padfoot.

[ She knows Harry and Ron will understand and she hopes neither of them will be put off by the nickname. She moves to shut off the feed even as the puppy goes to try and bite at the chain holding the locket in her fingertips. ]

Padfoot, no ---

[ and it goes. ]

( PRIVATE TO THE KREW + ANYONE WITH A COMPASS. )

I was given my boon by the faeries and - it's incredible. They've given me a book that'll teach me how to make my own network, like the lockets but only for us to use. I was wondering if you'd all tell me what kind of thing you'd want, if you want a personal network for anyone or just for you and some friends? And what you'd like it on - a watch or a necklace or something? Let me know, please?
