Commander Saber has left us. Her absence will be marked and mourned.

Mere words fall short to give her the credit she deserves, both as one who held the heart of a true Unseelie and as one who led us onwards to see another day. She was a true knight, and, I found, a truer friend.

To those of you that also knew her, I share in your grief.

he brings the locket to his lips and stops. he measures his tone by lowering the timbre, but something that trembles in his chest is bitter and fierce, even when they get relayed in text. ]

That doesn't sound possible.

[ some part of him says that's absurd. it's absurd. ]

We might have to hold that off until I get back. The Outpost was hit not two days ago and I need to make sure repairs get underway.

I'm so sorry, Ariadne. There aren't words enough.

I don't know much of the details save where it happened.

( there's no answer for some time; what does she say? her anger swells hot and tight in her chest, makes her stomach turn. this has taken much from her, from all of them, and now there's another. part of her wants to find Bellamy, another wishes for Jason, but the largest part is already getting ready to contact Ariadne. there are some things a best friend is needed for.

but first- she knows Grell has had too much on her shoulders lately. Clarke might not know everything, but. )

[there's a pause there, deleted messages that are along the lines of don't, you need to take care of yourself or otherwise, but if she's honest with herself? right now, she can't give it the care she needs to.]

If it's not a great burden to you two, I think I need a little time. The structural support and the basic outlines of what was there before have already been drawn up - Lily's using them at the moment. Tell them and Bellamy I'm sorry - I am, Clarke.

[ Of all of the people, she did not expect for Saber to vanish. Not her. Anyone else, perhaps, but she had been so strongly tied to the Unseelie cause that she hesitates to wonder what could have happened. ]

[ you know what's really fun? playing tricks on people. grell may think her secret admirer to be a coward, but luke knows exactly what he's doing. his father's the god of transitions and boundaries, of quick wit and cunning, and is the only god in the pantheon who can move as freely as a snake in the grass while remaining undetected — and luke wonders why he can't be the very same in the drabwurld. ]

[ playing with people is fun. avenging clarisse and working out his own anger and grief in a manner that's so hermes is a hell of a lot better than self-destructing and possibly razing all of dorchadas as if it's mount olympus. it's better for his court and it's better for the world at large. ]

[ all luke can do is laugh. if the beheaded bear is any indication for him, it's that he's burrowing his way beneath the skin of the person he thinks to have had a hand in clarisse's death. and if she so much as hasn't, the message will hopefully begin to slither around the unseelie court that the seelie won't take the murder of their own so lightly anymore, that one of them, at least, isn't going to sit on their hands and play by a rulebook of being good. ]

[ he thinks to respond, but he saves it for another rainy day and a prettier bear. ]

She was there to train a rather fearsome beast. Some sort of bear/bird splice. Thought it might be able to track Seelie shards.

I'll preserve any evidence I find. Perhaps it can track the killer.

Of course. We can both go see Ariadne, I doubt she'll mind us there for hugs and drinking.
