[Flora is very clearly outside somewhere, and the smile she greets the network with is sunny.]

Hello everyone, I am Lady Flora, one of your Marchionesses of the White Citadel! But just "Flora" is fine.

We're in the midst of a lot of training right now, and I'd very much appreciate your input on some exercises, specifically features for obstacle courses or training constructs. Anything from easy to borderline-if-not-actually-lethal is fine! Rings of fire, pits of barbs, vine traps, swarms of durable killer bees...I won't say the sky's the limit, but there are a lot of things we can do, here!

[Her voice is still rather calm, not rushed at all, but it's just a little higher with excitement. At any rate, she looks entirely too happy to be talking about death traps. ~~But then she would be~~]

If you fly too, that will not be a problem. As for constructs, I can grow or make all sorts of enemies to practise fighting against. I'll modify or mix it up, of course, otherwise everyone would know what to expect from them. I am also personally available for sparring or training. If you have any questions about anything at all, please do not hesitate to ask them!

[Something explodes rather loudly off-screen, and blue, shimmering smoke blows behind her. Her chin tilts as her eyes track something up, up, up...up.

Up.

She adjusts her glasses and looks back to her compass with a bright and sunny smile.]

[Her eyes once again flicker upward before the feed cuts out.

You can make enemies?

[This is a completely new one on him. He's been training his crossbow aim in the mountains, where he's decided to stay, and he knows how to deal with fire and whole lot of traps, but artificial enemies???]

[Okay, he's never had to deal with swarms of bees, either.]

Can someone make ah... something like smoke bombs for insect swarms? They tend not to do that.

Yes, that's right! I'd make them out of a base of plants and earth or stone, and then would further reinforce them with magic. That would be easiest for me. But larger and heavier targets, faster and lighter ones, multiple...whatever needs people have, I'll try to meet them.

[And she might have a bit of fun along the way. That's allowed, isn't it? IT's all in the name of training and personal improvement!]

And do you mean smoke bombs to combat the hypothetical insect swarms? [She grins lightly.] Absolutely. I'd welcome the attempts! A good obstacle course should test how your ability to deal with them on multiple fronts, and that's a pretty creative solution.

[She makes a mental note: protect hypothetical bees from smoke. Possibly.]

[...what exactly was he watching, here? Gilgamesh isn't quite sure whether to be surprised or impressed. Maybe a mixture of both. It takes him a moment to find the right words, and even then he still sounds a little uncertain.]

[His face. It's like it's melting off his bones in disbelief.]

[Flora looks at him with a questioning pout, and then she gets a bit huffy at the accusation! The baseless accusation!]

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I'm not sadistic! I just want to create proper challenges. I thought the fire was rather mild, honestly, but it's a classic, you know?

I don't believe you.

[Though he's retreated to just teasing now, flashing a grin at his compass in turn.]

I don't believe you could conjure anything that could challenge the likes of me, I meant. So you shouldn't resort to false advertising.

[Funnily enough, she accepted that making constructs or anything that could pose a challenge to Servants--at least some of them--would be too difficult to trouble herself with.

Flora's not about to write checks with her mouth that the rest of her can't cash, but she is sorely tempted to try, right now.]

What makes the bees more durable than other bees?

Mostly I prefer to learn things away from organized obstacle courses. It is too easy to see what to expect. But if you can give me fake people to hunt down, it will be something to do.

Is these people probably going to use bees against us?

[He is confused and using his English and probably going to be expecting bees and locusts with all his might.]

[She flashes John a very warm and fond smile before launching into her explanation. He's a sight for sore eyes.]

My magic. But they're naturally incredibly hardy and faster than some species found on Earth all on their own.

They're also just a little bit bigger too, but she's not going to mention that. Why spoil the surprise?]

Ah, but you're assuming you'll get to see everything. It's not as fun or useful if there aren't surprises if you know all of what you're getting yourself into. But I do take your point, sir, and I'd be happy to. As for whether or not they will, they could. It would not be impossible or out of the ordinary by a long shot. After all, I do use plants to fight, myself.

[Though her idea of ordinary might be skewed. Just a little.]

[His idea of normal has taken a few punches to the face, so he can't really throw stones.]

In my experience, war isn't usually something to look forward to. But I will have to learn to cope with bees and lightening and flying horses and whatever.

I can make traps that don't involve magic.

[Not quite, but then again, she is an alien, so whatever. But at the mention of the Balkans, she smiles.]

Oh! I've never been...I've wanted to, it seems like a very lovely region. I'm very fond of mountains.

[Flora's face grows gently solemn and serious even as she still smiles.]

No, it's not, but we need to take our reprieves where we can get them, and sometimes that can even be in our preparations. Even if it's to a purpose, I have always wanted to and enjoyed grow stronger, especially alongside people I care about.

[What she won't say is that a darker part of her is looking forward to when she can tear people--real people--apart, but she won't for obvious reasons. It's a complicated mess that she still would rather avoid, honestly.]

[He's a professional hitman, so he could understand that on some level. Though his own desire for violence is a problem he's been trying to get over for years.]

[It's always irritating to find it necessary.]

It was a nice place before the war. The battles ruined it. Your castle might be pretty now, but if people do not take care I don't think it will fare too well.

[Technically his castle too, he guesses, except that he chose not to live in it.]

[She has to chuckle a little. It's not condescending, but it is a little dry.]

Ah pardon me, I take it you're very new, then. Because parts of Caer Glaem have been raided, attacked, and destroyed...at least three times now since I've been here.

[The library fire, the lawkawmermyce, and of course, the jabberwhelp. Honestly, Flora could be forgetting something. At least he's not asking about The Station, that poor place never seems to stand, but is always between being destroyed.]

If it happens, and I'm sure it will again, as it has even before my time here, we will rebuild it until we can no longer.

[She says it simply. Even before coming here, Flora has been used to one home or other being destroyed over and over. The tenacity of her endurance comes easily.]

I am very new.

And I am not very surprised. No offense. I was warned that this war had gone on some time. Nobody could tell me how it started. [He's still not sure why there can't be some sort of compromise about this void thing, like making it move very slowly.]

Oh, no offense is taken, don't worry. It's par for the course for things to get destroyed, isn't it? We're just fortunate that we're able to build things back over and over. Some things are irreplaceable, and other people are not so fortunate. [Like the natives. Especially them.]

I'm sorry, I don't know all the particulars on how it started, either. Not for my lack of trying, either. There's at least one person who knows all of it, but he's gone to ground, somewhere.

[She's been so busy as of late, but it might be time to start looking for him, once again.]

Considering what is heading this way, I cannot blame him.

I guess the natives are pretty screwed on both sides.

[He feels pretty sorry for them. He's been in that position- it's why he ended up a soldier in the first place.]

I was sent to rescue some orphans. What will happen to them? [They annoyed the crap out of him, but he kind of liked them by the time he was done. Enough to have a touch of big idiot protectiveness.]

[What with the way she gets incredibly excited over ridiculous obstacle courses and near-death experiences.]

How's your skill with water?

[She lives an exciting life, Mister Curry, what can she say.]

Oh yes, many times. They really put us through our paces at school, and then it was our turn--the graduates, I mean. As for my skill with water, I can fight well enough under it, I suppose. I don't often have to, but I do my best to keep up with it, anyway.

[He knows what it's like, Flora.]

Maybe we can help each other, then. I fight and train mainly underwater.

Oh do you? [Colour her very interested.] May I ask what you are that you're able to?

[He could be human, but she makes a point not to assume. She isn't after all, much as she looks like them. ...Or rather the other way around, actually.]

[Arthur's used to looking like a human, but not being a human. Just look at him.]

I'm part Atlantean. I can breathe underwater, fight underwater, swim very fast, among other things.

[And he'll excuse it. Not quite so sweetly, but at least he's not throwing a temper tantrum. ...he's just pouting instead.]
