( believe it or not, using a magical device to communicate with others is a lot easier for Tink to wrap her head around than say, a cell phone. they were so small, and made such funny noises, and who knew what radiowaves were. they didn't sound good for you. no, she'd much rather have a magical locket.

she doesn't seem to falter with it much, either, a simple introduction being enough. )

( Tink's accent is a bit of a twang, her voice sweet just like the delicate features of her face, but if you write her off as sweet and innocent, you're asking for trouble. )

My name is Tinker Bell. Does anyone here know of a place called 'Storybrooke'?

( Tink figures she's more or less alone, but it doesn't hurt to ask. )

There is something wrong with my magic. I've heard all sorts of claims as to why that might be, but I wanted to know if anyone else had this experience. And how I could restore it to the way it was. I still can manage a few spells but it's not right, and I want to know why. If I'm meant to help with this war, I'm not going to be as capable.

( that's a bit of bribery, really — give her magic back and she'll be a good little worker bee, honest! or, well, she is not a creature that wants to participate in war, yet she's willing to use her magic for the right reasons. she just needs it back first. she fought tooth and nail to get her wings back, she's not going to sit back and let someone strip them from her again.

still, she can't be wholly selfish. )

The faeries around here seem to be a bit self serving — that's not how faeries work in my world. I'm here to help anyone that needs it, if I can. I understand we are trying to ready ourselves... I can happily teach those that might like to know about survival skills and living off the land, and general first aide. Someone mentioned something about activating my shard, if I could trade one knowledge for the other we'd both leave a little wiser.

I'm not sure a reason for my abduction would make me feel much better. ( she has been collected like an item before, and she didn't like that any more than she likes this. at least she's consistent. she hasn't thought very much about why she was drawn to this side over the other, though she might with a bit more time. she's more complicated than most faeries of her world, after all... she's just not particularly keen to admit that. )

There's limits to magic back home, too... I suppose it's good that not everything is different here. ( she doesn't like magic being taken from her, though, she'd really rather not deal with that longer than once. ) Why would magic be taken away? I don't understand. That seems to be quite prevalent here.

( it does sound like a great deal of work, but the fact is she's curious. she'd like to try, even if that doesn't get her too terribly far. ) If you think they'd like to help me. Thank you. You've been very helpful. ( that does mean something to her, even when she's a little cross. )

Better than thinking everything's your fault, isn't it? [Some people like having a source to blame. He'd had a hard time accepting that he'd been kidnapped and struggled for a long time as to why.] I think magic gets taken away so we don't upset the balance of this world while it's already upset? I've never really asked before. [Though perhaps he should, now that he thinks about it.] The monarchs are pretty powerful people. It could also be they just don't want us to overthrow them. But they can make things better...it's a rewards system.

[One that's kind of hard to deal with sometimes, but one nonetheless.] I don't see why not. The more of us that're activated around here the better. You can probably talk to either Katsa or Loki and see if they're busy. I'm not sure who trained them, but they'll have resources. Loki's the one who helped me with my shard so...I guess I kinda count, too. [Well that's bizarre to think about.] Hopefully something works out.

i suppose so. ( so far Tink has only ever been upset to be taken, she blames the monarchs for it, for treating her like a toy to throw into their war without any thought as to whether she wanted to join their cause or not. it only makes it worse that her magic has been tampered with on top of it. it's not impossible that she might come to struggle with why with more time, but she does have a certain amount of faith in the concept of fate. she just isn't sure why she was destined to be here instead of with her sisters, now that she's earned her wings back again. )

It isn't right to take away something that isn't theirs, no more than it is to steal us from our lives for their purposes. ( that they force them to barter back for their own things just seems cruel to Tinker Bell, though many seem to accept it as the way of things. she's already fought once to prove herself, to someone she actually admired. these monarchs have done little to earn her loyalty. )

I'll do what I can to ask around. Surely someone can show me. ( she doesn't exactly know either of those names, but she'll have to learn. ) Thank you... I'm not sure I got your name.

[It doesn't always make things better. He knows that. But at least he can understand that much and so while he shrugs there's still the sympathetic look as well.] Try telling them that. I don't think that'd go well for anybody. ...but I kinda agree with that, too. It's not just for their purposes though when it comes down to it. [He flaps a hand.] It gets complicated.

With everything that's happening around here though, I'd be surprised if you didn't find the answers. [A beat. Yeah. A year and a half later and he's still really bad about actually introducing himself.] I'm Hiro. If you can't find who or what you're looking for, I can probably help, too. [That is to say he's well-connected enough by now to know what he's doing and how to help everybody who's just now showing up.]

I'm sure it wouldn't. ( in fact she knows that speaking of unrest with a ruler rarely goes well. she knows from living so long under Pan's thumb. she was able to manage a convincing sense of complacency, yet that did not require her to agree with his actions. it was hard to condone them, when they were so often so truly horrible. )

Hiro. ( that makes her smile, a little. she thinks the name might have impressed Henry, even though she didn't get much of a chance to get to know him. ) It's nice to meet you, Hiro. And if I need any more information, I'll be sure to ask.

[That's all he can do now, isn't it? He gives people tools and ideas, and then he sits back and waits. It's a solid strategy, but he does sincerely hope she'll find some answers.]
