For anyone who doesn't know me, my name's Steve Rogers. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet many of you at the feast. Things came up, but I at least wanted to introduce myself.

[For reasons, curiosity. Maybe he's a limited edition but he's definitely not one of a kind.]

I also wanted to talk about something else. Some of you might remember Sam Wilson - in fact, if you ever met him, I'm willing to bet that you do. Sam served two tours in the military, so he could definitely hold his own in a fight. But what he really loved to do was help people. My entire world had turned its back on me, and Sam took me in, made me bacon and eggs. That's the kind of friend I hope to be to anyone who'd call me one.

[Emphasis on 'anyone'.]

Sam's gone now, but he started working on something before he left. It's a clinic, he called it The Nest. There's some medicine and stuff there, but it was more than that. It was a place for people to come if they just needed to talk, or if they needed to rest. I never realized it before, but sometimes in a war people need that as much as they need bandaging up.

[Steve pauses there to take deep breath. Here comes the hard part.]

This is my friend's legacy, and I've tried to keep it afloat. The problem is, I don't know how. And it's hard for me to ask for help sometimes.

[He can barely even maintain eye contact. But the same thing keeps going through his head, fuels him on: for Sam.]

But if you have anything to offer...if you have medical knowledge or if you're just a good listener, even if you want somewhere else to stay. There's a place for you here.

I guess that's it. Again, welcome, and try to watch yourselves out there.

( His good manners and the flow of the conversation causes her to smile warmly. )

Ah, yes! You should. Whereabouts in the country have you visited already?

( If neither of them do, she hopes it will be because this world will have been saved; and thus all others. )

Mostly London.

[And he hesitates to tell her that it was during war. It's like waking up to hear about all the bad things that had happened with his own country, regardless of how it ended.]

I hear there's some beautiful countryside though.

Did you enjoy your visit? I was born there, myself, in Westminster Palace.

( She knows nothing of the Great War, or the one which followed it. But she was born into a civil war, and that experience has been enough to give her a distaste for conflict altogether. )

There is! The White cliffs of Dover are particularly beautiful. ( His accent is different, holding the distinctive tone she now knows to be American. So, she ventures forth with her guess. )

And what of America, sir? I have heard of its native peoples, and a place called Texas, but not much else, I fear.

Westminster. [His eyebrows lift.] I'm afraid I didn't get to go there, but I've heard of it.

[There's a sheepish little laugh at the mention of Texas.]

I'm ashamed to say I haven't been to Texas myself. Work's kept me mostly on the East coast. But America's...well, we're a little bit of everything I guess.

I am not surprised that it yet stands in the future. It has already done so for nigh upon five hundred years as I know it; the year was fourteen eighty-five.

( To explain away any confusion he clearly bears toward her being born in a palace that very well may have fallen into disrepair, even if it stands still. Elizabeth smiles a little, now quite curious about this new country. )

One day should you be able, you should remedy that, sir. One should know their country. What mean-you by that? 'A little of everything'?
