For anyone who doesn't know me, my name's Steve Rogers. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet many of you at the feast. Things came up, but I at least wanted to introduce myself.

[For reasons, curiosity. Maybe he's a limited edition but he's definitely not one of a kind.]

I also wanted to talk about something else. Some of you might remember Sam Wilson - in fact, if you ever met him, I'm willing to bet that you do. Sam served two tours in the military, so he could definitely hold his own in a fight. But what he really loved to do was help people. My entire world had turned its back on me, and Sam took me in, made me bacon and eggs. That's the kind of friend I hope to be to anyone who'd call me one.

[Emphasis on 'anyone'.]

Sam's gone now, but he started working on something before he left. It's a clinic, he called it The Nest. There's some medicine and stuff there, but it was more than that. It was a place for people to come if they just needed to talk, or if they needed to rest. I never realized it before, but sometimes in a war people need that as much as they need bandaging up.

[Steve pauses there to take deep breath. Here comes the hard part.]

This is my friend's legacy, and I've tried to keep it afloat. The problem is, I don't know how. And it's hard for me to ask for help sometimes.

[He can barely even maintain eye contact. But the same thing keeps going through his head, fuels him on: for Sam.]

But if you have anything to offer...if you have medical knowledge or if you're just a good listener, even if you want somewhere else to stay. There's a place for you here.

I guess that's it. Again, welcome, and try to watch yourselves out there.

[There is some fumbling and uncertainty with the locket before Angela seems satisfied with it. Once it's settled, she watches quietly while he speaks, still but for the curious flutter of the ribbons that trail around her.]

[The first is murmured to herself. Then:]

My thanks for the welcome. I see it comes at a difficult time.

[Her tone is neither kind nor sympathetic, but not insincere.]

Some days are better than others around here.

[Steve hesitates to call any of them "good", especially recently. War and cults and the Void, there's always something.]

How're you settling in so far? It looks like you've mastered the locket.

Mastered is too generous.

[Her lips twitch a little. Her self-deprecation is clearly born of confidence.]

Settling in may be as well. I am here. Beyond that... remains to be seen.

I think most of us go through a lot of the same things when we first get here. I've been here over two years now. I slept through most of one of 'em, but I'd be glad to help you out however I can.

You are very quick to offer that, Steve Rogers, especially when I have nothing to offer in return.

[Plus they're both from the same court, even if Steve has friends and allies from both. Shardless too.]

I don't expect anything. But a name would be nice.

You have given me yours. A name would be fair.

[She sits up straighter before she answers, her eyes softening to white. Even through a locket, it's clear that she's tall. Very tall.]

I am Angela. Formerly of Heven, now of no where in particular.

Like the place that angels come from?

[Steve's not assuming that she means heaven heven, but he's also in a position of believing that just about anything's possible these days.]

I'm from Brooklyn.

The angels of Heven reared me, and taught me how to hunt.

[She pauses, thinking a moment before adding.]

That is in New York, is it not?

That's amazing. What do you hunt?

It is. Any chance you've ever been there?

That depends what I am offered bounty for. Monsters, oft times. Other times... men.

As for your Brooklyn... I was in New York once, briefly, before traveling with the Guardians for a time.

You won't find any shortage of work here.

[There's plenty of monsters, and no shortage of people with prices on their heads.]

I hope you had a chance to try the pizza. It's the best in the world.

[Steve, no. But he smiles a little.]

[She is very serious when she answers.]

I did not—I don't know what that is.

[Her confusion is quite sincere.]

Is it important?

Not really. But it's something I miss more with every passing day.

So any idea what path you're gonna take here? Throwing yourself right into the war, or?

It is not my war, and the incentive to take up the cause has been... lacking.

[She shrugs one shoulder, one ribbon slipping over her arm with the gesture to emphasize it.]

But I have never shied away from a fight.

[Those words earn a smile.]

I couldn't have said it better myself. Not even the ones I probably should've stayed out of.

[Either Steve's smile is infectious, or she's warming to the subject.]

Is that so, Steve Rogers? Are you a fighter as well? I would be interested in seeing that.

Since 1918. And I think that could be arranged. There's plenty of sparring areas.

[The date means nothing to her, but she gathers from the way he says it that it's a significant time. She finds she rather likes his attitude.]

That is a tempting invitation, if you think you could keep up.

I can promise you that I'll give it everything I've got.

[She might wipe the floor with him, but that's never kept him from trying.]

I can hardly ask for more.

[There's no mistaking that she's pleased by the idea.]

I hope you are... durable.

So do I, otherwise the supersoldier serum that's running through me is a real waste.

I guess we'll see.

[This may be the best thing that's happened since she got here. At the very least, she appreciates the opportunity to work off some frustration. And she doesn't hate Steve.]
