Unseelie lockets

This thing can really make my voice heard even a long ways off? Interesting.

[Yes, Azula is experimenting with her locket. It's too dark for her to keep going on the work she's doing for Ariadne, so she's taken to toying with the little trinket.

Of course, what she doesn't know is that anyone who recognizes her voice from the feast will see a different name attached to it than what she gave before. Details, details.

There's no image to be had, either. She merely opened it, set it down on the ground, then laid out her mat to look at the stars. Different than the ones she's used to, but just as bright in the night sky.]

I hope to have funds soon, so there are two things I'd like to ask about before I need them.

Where can I obtain a good tea set? Preferably with a pot with an overhead handle rather than one on the side. Also, anyone who knows where I could find a useful guide to flora would be appreciated. I'd rather not poison myself in an attempt to make decent tea.

Well... I know I heard there's a library.

There's probably books there on the plants here. Though... I guess you wouldn't need money for that.

[She makes a quiet hm-ing sound, trying to think where she might've seen a shops, but she knows even less of the general community in and around Caer Scima than she knows about the place itself.]

I'd prefer to own the book, honestly. I'll need to have it on hand for quite awhile until I have the plants committed to memory.

[Because, after all, she'll be making tea. Not only for herself but for other people. Poison? Not something she wants to accidentally make.

Though it wouldn't hurt to know what would be poison. Just in case she ever needed it.]

[Xion laughs a little sheepishly, more at herself than anything.]

Yeah, that makes sense. [Hmmm...] I can ask around, and see where there might be some shops for books and things like that. I don't really know where one would be right now though, sorry.

[She could probably ask Elizabeth, or Clarke or Hiro.]

I'd appreciate it.

[All calm and collected. For now. Because she still wants something.]

Srathmarbh has a printing company; they're likely the closest. And I believe I've seen several tea sets like that in Diasbaile, if you don't mind some Drabwurld-specific religious imagery.

[ Beat. ]

You should know the lockets have your name attached to them.

[ #subtle ]

[There's a few seconds of silence. Then:]

I apologize for my deception.

[ A slight hum. ]

I thought I might still be close to my homeland. There, if someone had known my name...

[Back to the Fire Lord. Back to the asylum. Locked away and, this time, probably forgotten about entirely. Left to rot.]

If it helps, High-Queen Morla had told me before that while she doesn't like it when her shardbearers fight among themselves... a death is acceptable as long as you provide her with their shard.

[ Things maybe not to tell Azula. Whoops. ]

[...Things that very much should not be told to Azula. Because, oh, that tells her quite a bit in case she runs into trouble with the people who are supposed to be her allies.]

[A pause. The woman already has her name, now, but it's best to just... say it. Just to make things a little even.]

[ There's a flicker of a smile, though Azula can't see it. ]

It's nice to meet you. Again.

[ maybe it's curious to katherine she asks about a tea set that she even thinks to reply. she's never thought of claiming items as her own, aside from what she can pack in a suitcase when she wishes to run. a tea set is a tea set, but it makes her wonder if it has sentimental value. and then she wants to kick herself for even caring. ]

There's plenty of tea sets in the kitchens. I doubt the imps will miss one if you choose to claim it as your own.

[ finders keepers, after all. ]

Composition and quality are very important.

[ katherine frowns. she's been around for a long time, but when it comes to tea, she only cares about how it tastes. the utensils and equipment used to make it, the designs painted and carved into them, matter so little. then again, though, for someone who has lived for so long, sometimes those details cease to hold any significance for the sake of surviving an emotional war with oneself. ]

[ she sounds incredulous, ] It's a tea set.

Yes. It's a tea set.

[That alone feels to Azula like it should be explanation enough. However, it clearly isn't, so.]

High quality means it will last a long time, and if it's made of the wrong materials, it runs the risk of being stripped by the tea or use and getting into the tea itself.

[ all she's getting from this is that azula's very into controlling how her tea is made. even though katherine hasn't responded to gain anything from this conversation, she's gleaned, perhaps, her acquaintance on the other line is very interested in controlling every little element of a simple cup of tea. ]

[ still, she arches her brow and sounds amused. ]

You do know you can buy high quality tea at the Station, right?

Then I'll have to look into that.

[Of course, her idea of 'high quality' is probably very different than whomever it is she's talking to. She certainly has no idea about tea sets, at the very least.]

[ it's true. katherine may have been around for a very long time, but her priority and interests went beyond tea sets. if she could be made a good cup without her needing to lift a finger and do the actual making, that was good enough for her. ]

[ she's not so sure if she's serious at all, but she thinks, perhaps, it's only nice she gives her some direction, after all. ]

Try Starbucks. They're quite well-known for their high quality.
