( Today, she is beautifully dressed in a gown of dark green, and her hair is braided in a crown about her head, with some loose curls falling past her shoulders. Appearance is everything today, when she has such a request to make. It is not as humbling as she might have expected, to be in such a position as to need to ask for aid; perhaps it is because it is not for her, personally.

But rather an endeavour which may benefit all. Carefully, at first, she smiles, an expression which gains warmth after a few seconds. )

I greet all of you well. And pray that all of you are doing all right. Sadly, as we are all keenly aware, such a state will not long be enjoyed by many of our native brethren. The Void would consume Leathann, and I commend the great efforts being made by all to keep it at bay.

Yet the isle of Briste to the north is in similarly dire straits, and I would make a great effort there to see their people saved from death, if the Void is not stopped ere it might swallow the isle. I know not if raising it might be viable option; rather, I have struck up an overture, a dialogue with their Council of elders.

My hope is this: that we might relocate the people to a settlement on the coast of the mainland here. If I might secure their trust and blessing to do so, I will lead their people to the head of the North road. There, I propose a settlement be built, which may in time grow into something greater.

I would do this myself, but I lack the funds to. Thus I appeal to you all: please, aid me in this. I will either repay you in turn or owe you a favour later, for certain. I would not ask for donations unless it is within your wisdom to provide one. Either way, you would bear my eternal gratitude for this.

These people may be hesitant to trust us, but they deserve a better fate than that which awaits them if we do naught.

When I returned and heard of the crisis in Leathann, it occurred to me that very few have ventured North—and ventured there to find them threatened by the Void as well. They are a proud and sturdy people, and I have become fond of them. I refuse to lose them to the Void or aught else.

I.. you have my thanks all the same. I wonder, might you share your contacts there with me? It may facilitate the evacuation of as many as may be possible.

( This time when she bows her head, it is a clear indication of respect. ) Yes, of course. I thank you again.

Certainly. I will have a list left with the gold. I never did get the opportunity to speak with the Council, so my contacts are a few innkeepers, dock workers and a couple boat captains.

[Saber paused a moment in thought.] If you are wondering if you will be able to repay me, do not worry about it. I do not expect repayment and would most likely refuse it should you ever present me with equivalent gold. I have no need for it and I am happy to provide as any king should.

Those are invaluable. They may spread the word and gauge the general mood of the people toward the prospect of moving. I intend to speak to the Council myself as soon as might be arranged. But until then, the more people we connect with, the better.

( She is struck dumb for a moment. ) A King, lady? Pardon me—I knew that not. How is that possible?

[Saber was silent for a very long moment, turmoil showing on her face as she thought over whether to tell Elizabeth or not. She had long grown tired of concealing who she was, but it was always hard for her to reveal her true identity to those she considered her subjects in some fashion.]

I am not a man, Lady Elizabeth, but I also do not see myself as a woman. I am female, yes, but being a woman means something different. I am afraid it is hard to explain. But I take no offense if you refer to me as one, though I am not fond of the title of 'lady'.

As for who I am... I fear the truth may tarnish my legend in your mind. Some legends should stay legends. But if you truly wish my name, I will give it to you.

I apologise then, Your Grace. Time and again have I been told that titles matter little here, and yet we are merely given new ones by the court. They still bear some weight, yes?

( Seeing her discomfort, she waits patiently, her expression quiet, patient and gentle. )

There is one among the Seelie that has been yelling my name for quite a while now. I do not require a vow of silence, simply the request that you only use the knowledge of who I am when necessary.

[Saber raised her head up and looking into the locket with the regal bearing only known to kings.]

I am Arturia Pendragon, true heir of Uther Pendragon, the King of Knights, better known as Arthur, King of the Britons.

I have not heard it, though that is unsurprising. The dealings of the Seelie have never truly been my concern. Very well, I—

( She stops short, her eyes grown wide with the shock of it. This woman is truly King Arthur? Elizabeth is pale and silent for a few moments, gaze locked upon the image of the woman before her; it is clear that she sees her with new eyes.

Truly, if the gods of her ancestors, the Vikings are alive and well in this world, why not another legend connected to her distantly? She releases a long exhale, and then proceeds to light up like a modern Yule tree. )

King Arthur! Gods be praised. I was raised on tales of you and your knights. ( Typical that they'd leave out the fact that she was female. But the real question is how is she alive? Tactfully, she asks this not. But she wonders. )

It is said that my line is descended from you. I know not whether that is true or nay, but it is an honour regardless, Your Grace!

[Saber was not sure what kind of response she would get, always half-convinced that her being female would be a disappointment to those that knew of her legend. And being as she had changed, been tainted and corrupted, there was much about her that was not as she was when she reigned as Arthur. Her appearance even reflected it.

Plus, there was the fact that those that her legend was so well known that it was also practically an open book on her life. Something she was not entirely comfortable with as she was now Unseelie, knowing had she been called to the Drabwurld at any other time, she would be Seelie. She had lived the Seelie life and had suffered greatly.]

The honor is mine, dear lady. [She gave a courtly bow of her head.] And it is possible that you may be. I fathered but one child who did not live long enough to pass on our shared blood, but I had nieces, nephews and cousins.

( Elizabeth does not even think so far as to wonder why King Arthur, Seeker of the Grail would ever be deemed Unseelie. One might equally wonder why she, who exhibits so many Seelie traits might be considered the same. There is more to people than meets the eye, and, well. She cannot be at all ungrateful for that, especially when there is a possibility that they are family.

She will take that hope and hold to it, because she has little else left to her of her relations. The Lion Heart has been silent for a long stretch of time now, and she fears for him. It is good, to think she is has family here. )

Please, call me Elizabeth, Your Grace. If you and I are family, then it is only fitting. ( Slowly, her smile fades. ) I am so very sorry, about your child. It is a pain my mother knows well. I cannot imagine it.

We are both so very far from home in this world; but you have me now. If you wish it.

[Saber wasn't going to bring up that she had been the one to kill Mordred. It was a raw wound inside Saber that would never heal until she obtained the Holy Grail.]

I welcome you, Elizabeth, though I am very unskilled when it comes to matters of family. I am... awkward, I suppose is the best way to describe it.

Yes. ( She shakes her head once. She knows full well of the betrayal committed by Mordred. This topic is obviously difficult, and she will look for a graceful fashion to drop it. ) And I am yet sorry for it, Your Grace.

All we might do is make the best choices we might in our own lives in accordance with our conscience, yes? Learning the how of that, I find, is an ongoing thing.

( Pausing a moment, she finally renews her smile. )

You are most welcome, however you are by nature. I am simply so very glad to be in the presence of family again. The rest, I imagine, will sort itself naturally.

My sisters would be so very envious if they could know I have met you and they have not.

Should we manage to be victorious, you will get the chance to tell them. [Saber offered a smile then.] And please... Saber is fine. Unless you need to speak to me as King, there is not need for the formality.

There may be no other outcome, Your Grace. I may not be a man, but I am the eldest; it is my duty to ensure that they live. ( And everyone, really. But she says it not, instead preferring to return the smile. )

I will indeed tell them. And, ah— ( She pauses, uncertain. ) It is simply that I am merely a princess, and you share rank with my late father, God assoil his soul. I should call you by your title, yes?

( But obviously she's uncertain, as her expression turns sheepish. )

Whatever you wish, it shall be as you say.

I understand that, Elizabeth. I am King and will always be King, but here I no longer rule. And 'Saber' is a title in itself.

So Saber is preferred.

As you say, Saber. ( Taking a breath after swallowing what unease lingers at addressing her thus, she inclines her head. )

I am gladdened to know not all of my family has been lost to me. Richard the Lionheart was here, but—

( Concern passes vividly across her features, along with mild annoyance. )

He either finds me irksome and avoids returning my letters, or has vanished. And I would tear down any Seelie who saw fit to stand between he and I, should the worst have come to pass.

I did not know he had been called to the Drabwurld. [A shame, too.] I would suggest asking the imps after him. Should he no longer be in this realm, they should know.

He arrived in June, when I awoke. ( She smiles, faintly so. ) I will, I thank you. Should he be here still, I will be most displeased by his lack of communication.

But at least then you would be able to meet him. He is a rather singular personage. And, I believe like you, wishes for as few as possible to be aware of his true identity.

( Though for the life of her, she knows not the name he'd prefer to answer to. He'd never told her. )

It would please me to meet one of the kings that followed in my wake, that dedicated themselves to Britain. [Perhaps it would mollify some of her feelings of failure.]

Though I am not so sure he would be as believing of my identity as you. I concealed my gender out of necessity, Elizabeth.

Your Grace, he believed me when I told him that I am his niece removed by three centuries of history. Perhaps you may be surprised.

( She hopes for it, fervently. If he is not here, she will be most distressed. Enough of her relations are lost to her without one more. )

If I should ever return home and become Queen, I will bow to no man, just as you have not. Society must change; perhaps even the Church, as it is the crutch upon which men bear so much of their power. I have been told that five centuries after me, there will be a Queen regnant by the name of Victoria. She married, bore children and yet was not subservient to her husband.

Such examples are those I would follow. Both here and at home.

['I should not be a model for anyone' was upon her lips, but she didn't speak the words. Britain had deserved a better king than she, and should would forever believe that. Britain deserved a king that would not slay his own son, would not hang his own wife out of necessity when her crime was caused by the king's own faults. But she would not say any of that. Elizabeth was using Saber's legend to inspire her... and the king would not take that away from her.]

The Drabwurld does make one open their eyes to more than what was previously possible. Should Richard still walk this realm, I would be most pleased if you would introduce us.

And it would be my utmost honour, Your Grace. I thank you.

And no matter what the outcome of this war, I shall forever be glad to have met you.
