They're going to take our power, one by one, and the lives of everyone here. I don't consent to live like this. I don't know about worlds being eaten in our homes or being born again later, and I don't care. Our lives are being ended as they are now.

I don't like to kill needlessly, but it will keep happening—if you meet someone who wants to let that thing destroy everything, including you, then you should find your chance and stick a blade into their heart.

I keep hoping that it's not that simple. [ Not that even kill or be killed was ever simple... ]

That it's not just a kill or be killed situation, I mean. But I can't just sit down and let this thing devour us, and I don't understand anyone who can.

I know that people are afraid, and that power is not in everyone's hands. In any other situation, I'd understand that not all people can act; but now that's all the more reason that even if one has few skills or courage, they understand that when this all comes for them, the least they can do is know where to stab.

So, I don't really expect people to not be afraid. Conquering your fear sounds good on paper, but reality is that a lot of us are still afraid but have to act anyway.

Not that it's easy to do that.

No. In this case there's no other option.

[ She's one of those people feeling afraid, and she's been trying very hard to tell herself that she's anything but. ]

Well, there is curling up into a ball and not doing anything. But hopefully no one takes that path. Or their friends can help them work through it.
