video; seelie.
Not there, you idiot! There, along with the rest of them! I told you thrice already!
[A bustling scene of one of Leathann's many ports comes into view over the locket, suspended in air by magic. Atop a tower of crates, as if standing upon his very own throne, Gilgamesh orders groups of various people about, directing resources and refugees alike. He seems very much in his element here, and only after several moments does he bother addressing his audience.
Giving a crisp salute with his fingers, Gilgamesh grins.]
Ah, yes, I just remembered! All of you, get down to Leathann immediately. I require your aid. We're saving this island.
[And there, just like that, he announces impossible intentions as casual as could be: we're saving this island. He sounds so utterly convinced with himself, blows past the matter so quickly, there's no doubt Gilgamesh believes every word of it.
There will be a miracle in Leathann, and Gilgamesh will be the hero to usher it in.]
So by order of the King of Heroes, [a booming declaration, a sweeping gesture] HAUL ASS! I expect the very best from each and every one of you!
[...someone throws a rotten tomato at Gilgamesh from the gathered crowd.]
Wh... wh... who did that?! WHO FALLS FIRST UPON MY BLESSED BLADE?! ENUMA—
[The feed shuts off abruptly as that tower topples over. Whoops.]
(( Companion log here! Tag in at your leisure. ))

As far as I can recall, we were properly introduced at the time. My name is Faolan.
[Which, if Gilgamesh is an observant man, will be enough to place him. Yes, it was back then. Yes, he was with Lancelot. The Seelie Marshall's Hound, Sunlight's Shadow, wherever the other man goes, so too (generally) does Faolan. He does not call nearly as much attention to himself, and he does is not anywhere near the public figure that Lancelot is (for obvious and less-than-obvious reasons), but he is there. He was there. For better or worse.]

Gilgamesh strains in his attempts at politeness, but he does make the effort all the same.]
It surprises me you would lend aid. Perhaps it is true that duty comes first for you Seelie.
[He makes the distinction of you Seelie this time, just the slightest bit sharp. Only if Faolan strains might he hear it, might he know of his true intent.]
I AM SORRY FOR BEING SO LATE work/life/accidentally maaring my inbox ate this :(
The 'you Seelie' comment narrows his brows, however. What is he getting at, there? Might as well just come out and ask.]
What exactly do you mean by that? [Faolan is an impressive frowner.]

Truly, I don't understand these Courts of yours. I don't understand your ranks and your titles and these crowns I'm intended to obey; I don't understand it because I was born beyond it. For five thousand years I've stood apart from it, from mortal concerns.
[The same cycle. The same mistakes. The same sorts of people behind them all. This was world was different in some ways yet tragically alike in others.]
So this war, this Void, these things I must do, or else decay... they are...
[Gilgamesh makes a gesture as if to grasp at something. Shakes his head, shrugs his shoulders.]
...also beyond me. You must understand.
WHOA sorry about the tl;dr as well faolan is kind of passionate about this
You seem to me like a man used to creating the rules, not following them, yes. What you must understand yourself in turn is that no one comes into this world loyal to one side or the other. We are sorted based on some form of inner attributes, and are told we must fight their battles and win their war for them. No, it does not make sense. There are some who have embraced the idea of it simply because that is what they are told to [Lancelot, for one] but there are those of us beyond that who need further reason than that to step into the roles assigned us.
But you cheapen each and every one if you limit us only to the codes of our court, when you say yourself that you would not accurately be limited thus. Perhaps you have lived for five thousand years - or more - but there is still learning to be had in this land, sir.
[A beat:] I have never been a member of the Seelie court, for one. Not now nor when I still possessed this shard of theirs. I may serve under her queen, but I have never served the queen herself.
it was in fact precisely the right kind of tl;dr GOOD JOB FAOLAN
And ultimately, Gilgamesh respects that conviction, that loyalty. Just as he places utmost faith in own knight, Gilgamesh now knows Lancelot has found a worthy man to serve under him. He bows his head to no one else, but when he replies, it's even. Level-headed. Agreeable.]
You serve your chosen liege with honor and hold yourself with dignity. I acknowledge it.
[That he has much to learn, as well, but this he doesn't as readily admit to. But he does smile, just a little. More of a telling smirk, really.]
I will save my island, Faolan. I will save these people. Believe in this decree, so sworn upon the grace and glory of my crown, as well as my life, for what value it yet holds in this land of learned folk. It is a promise beyond that code and any other such distinctions that so limit us.
8D PERFECTTTT
As I said, I cannot help myself. But that does not mean that I do not believe in your cause. I will lend aid of my own, as too I'm certain will Lancelot. But my own perhaps may come through different channels.
[Super cryptic, there, Faolan, but then he can't come out and say "hey I've got spies that I want to protect".] If you will trade in information, then I will trade in means.

What's mine is yours, friend of Lancelot.
[And really, what more need be said than that? It's the language of business. And though he's far from a spy, Gilgamesh has dealt in business before. He's not entirely built of bluster, as it turns out.]
I've a few points of contact throughout the island. We shall see what they can provide in these... trying times.

You know how to reach me and where I am. I will send men on the ground. Anything beyond that, you will have to contact me in regards to personally. [A beat.] I hope that you do. I have been to Leathann myself, and I would hate to see it taken from us.
