The Void is close to the edge of Mount Verla. The Pyrii refuse to leave and they have a week, maybe two at best, before they're swallowed by the Void.

They don't want to abandon their home. So I want to move it.

I need help. If you're willing to help, no matter where you are in the world, I can make sure you get here within a few hours. Respond privately and I'll tell you what needs to happen.

It is a nice thought, that. Perhaps it will even be worth it, for a while, to have them owe you in turn. But they will turn on you, in time.

Have you met the Pyrii? Do you have some sort of personal connection with them? [Or is this some sort of noble, altruistic, self-sacrificing quest of yours?]

Yes. I've met them before. They respect my control over fire.

[Even more, they respected his friend, Zuko, who introduced him to them.]

And I don't care about them owing me. But you're right, that it might come in handy. That's not the point, though.

Then perhaps they will continue to respect you still. But they will not hold that same respect for all that approach them. Not forever.

The point that I am trying to make is, if you have met them, then you know what they are like. Should situations be reversed, they would not care what were happening to us. They would stand by and watch as we were swallowed by the dark. They would most likely be laughing and singing and dancing as it happened, because they're mad. And just because you want to save them and their mountain from what's coming, that's not going to change.

[Faolan tells it like it is. Sorry, Wan. He's earned the right? Considering they almost literally ate him alive, with their fire hands and their fire mouths. It was really unpleasant.]

That doesn't matter.

[Wan let that sit for a moment. Just that statement. Because he felt it needed to be understood on it's own. It didn't matter what they would do if the situation was reversed. It wasn't. And he had the means to try and save their lives.]

If you truly believe that then you are a fool. Perhaps a brave one, but a fool nonetheless.

[And he does not doubt that you will be putting yourself in serious danger attempting this. Regardless of whatever you plan to do with the mountain itself, just interacting with the Pyrii is unpredictable as all hells. But if he's truly set on the matter...]

You are aware at least of the pilgrimage required to reach the mountain?

I made it this past summer.

[And that was pretty much the only reason the Pyrii had even been willing to talk to him when he showed up early in the morning on a cloud of air. They weren't happy, but they'd been willing to talk.

Everyone else who was coming, on the other hand...]

[Faolan sighs slightly. Well, at least then this person knows what they're getting themselves into, even if he still thinks that it's foolish.]

Then you know that the Pyrii are a fickle sort. If you are truly set on doing this, you should have their approval in the matter as well. Should they choose to consume you instead of letting you help, your intentions won't serve you a hell of a lot of good.

You're better off bringing a gift. If you want something from them.

[Faolan can feel his skin crawling. He was the gift. He needs to end this conversation soon.]

I don't want anything from them. I want to give them a chance to survive long enough for us to stop the Void. I want to give them time. They can be mad at me after we save them.

They'll have the time to punish me for whatever slights they feel I've made. But that only happens if we can save them.
