[The video feed shows Bethany in, what some might recognize, as Cothromach, though there are still effects of the previous attack and it's damn cold for anyone to be out and about.

However, it appears she's not alone. There's a small group organized to provide hot soup to people who are in need of something warm, as well as any blankets they managed to gather up for those who are lacking.]

I hope everyone is managing to keep warm. My name is Bethany Hawke, if we haven't met. I've been helping however I can here in Cothromach. If you're in trouble, please let me know so I or another can find you and help you. It doesn't take long for this weather to have an effect.

[A slight smile.]

Luckily, some of my magic has been returned to me, including a fire spell. It should come in handy if anyone needs to be warmed up quickly. Not to be cast on you, of course, but I think we could all do with a little thawing right about now.

Because dogs wouldn't do so well out in the desert. Not to mention I'm pretty sure anyone interloping out here would make short work of something like that. These, however... might come in handy.

Oh, right. I don't think I've heard her called that before.

Why would she place you out there, though? Did you do something wrong?

The opposite, I think, though I don't know what I would have done in either respect. Title and money and land, but it's just... not in a bustling part of the world.

King of the desert.

[She smiles a little. Really, he could pass as a prince, at least.]

Maybe you can make something of it.

[withbite]

Mm, King of a bunch of sand. Sounds about right.

[He grins back. If there's one thing Damon liked, it was a smiling lady. It meant whatever charm he had might be working.]

That's what I keep being told. Maybe I could open a beach resort, only without the water.

[Well, if he keeps smiling like that it will.]

The handsome king of a desert kingdom. It sounds a little like a fairy tale.

Nothing wrong with a pool. It's not the ocean, but it would do.

[Enjoy that smile, Bethany. Damon gave them away for free. And if she liked that, well... there was more where that came from.]

True, but there's this pesky worm problem out here, so until I can find a way to make a no-worm zone, it kind of makes lounging a bit of a hazard.

They have to go somewhere. Or maybe you can ask for them to go away? If it's a boon, I mean.

[She doesn't really know what the monarchs are capable of when it came to their magic.]

Can't. I'm training my own and I don't want them getting removed with the rest. I don't like wasting my time on things like that and I've already put enough into them. Which is why I want their area heated through this, just in case they hatch while it's still a winter wonderland.

I wish I could help. My magic can't be sustained indefinitely, though.

Well, what can it do, just so the curious are aware.

What it can do here and what it can do at home is quite different.

But so far, I can heal wounds, which has come in handy. Elemental magic is used more so for combat. A brief explosion, for instance, which doesn't help much with long-term thawing of things.

And what's the difference in here versus home. I haven't seen many people that can do things back in their world that they can't do here.

[Not that he'd been looking, but just going by his own experience, it seemed like people pretty much kept what they came in with.]

I could cast much more magic back home. Here my spells are more limited. I also noticed the potency of some spells are not as strong as they were.

Are they? Huh. I guess it's a good thing I'm not a witch.

I don't really prefer being called a witch. It sort of drums up thoughts of old hags.

[She's joking about it, though. No offense was taken.]

It's nice to know magic exists in other places. It makes it feel like I'm not so strange after all.

Oh, magic exists. I'm very well aware of that.
