1st Circuit - Text for Both Courts, Video-locked for Unseelie
[There's probably a better way to do this, but at least he can put out feelers and see what he's working with. Since the decimation of Caer Scima Hiro's been a little more than bitter toward the Seelie and while he doesn't want to have anything to do with any of them, he realizes that as a scientist he needs to gather as much information as possible.]
It's been a long month, hasn't it? I'm not used to any of this. Monsters? Destroying people's castles? It's weird. I was getting ready for class one day and the next I came here and then the fighting started. I think I'm going to fall really, really behind in my homework.
Makes me wonder…what do you miss most about home? I can't be the only one who really misses advanced tech (computers, video games, even the old stuff like VCRs would be okay at this point.) And I know, I know, the Station exists but it's not the same.
So, what about you guys?
[If he can figure out what people value? Maybe they can use that to their advantage, too.]
[Unseelie Locked]
[Now comes the hard part. With that out of the way the video function of the locket clicks on and it's obvious that the locket's hanging from something in front of Hiro. He's in a room at the Station, ever-recognizable blue hoodie hanging loosely on his frame but the sleeves pushed up to his elbows. More importantly than that? He looks a little nervous.]
…hi. My name is Hiro Hamada. I don't know most of you, but I hope you're listening anyway.
[He pauses and looks to the side, evidently looking at someone else who's in the room with him. Deep breath, Hiro.]
It's not a secret that we lost this battle pretty bad. That's a fact, but I think there's something we can do about it to help recover. I know there are other people that don't know how to really fight, or there are people who can only fight with weapons. What if we could do something more than that?
[Give him a second and he's holding up his hand. It looks as though he might completely freeze up but after a short moment a small fireball appears in the palm of his hand. He wants to put it out immediately, but he pauses long enough to at least look at the locket again.]
I couldn't do this when I first got here. [And the fireball vanishes.] Think about how much stronger we'd be as a court if everybody could wield a couple of spells. Even if it's not something you want to use for offense even picking up a few for defense is better than nothing. I know there're a lot of magic users here but…well, Lemina and I have been working on something pretty cool.
[He's going to lean forward and pick up what looks like a piece of paper with a class list and a list of elemental spells written on it to show the camera.]
The Guild's designed to not only teach people how to unlock their own magic ability but hone it and build up to becoming a better magician. We have a few ideas how to use it to help our side of this war. We're going to start classes soon for anybody who's even kinda curious. [A pause.] Look, I didn't even really believe in magic before I got here and knowing the little bit I learned saved me back there. It'd be really cool if you guys considered it and you can always ask Lemina or me if you have questions.
[Actually…he looks off screen toward where Lemina's sitting.] Maybe we should do that now?
[ooc: This is actually going to be open to both Seelie and Unseelie because of the mage university being started by Tzilan just outside of Redgate. Lemina's been putting up flyers around the Station and Hiro just doesn't realize it and has a very strong bias against the Seelie. You can check out more about said-Guild in the class link above, and you can sign up your character here. As an aside, Lemina will also be teaching classes at said-university on her own, but will be keeping the Guild as something separate. edit: also Lemina might pop into some threads as well!]

We have a good handful of people that're interested in the Guild, do you see this? [He gestures to the locket where calls are still coming in.]
no subject
Let's see.... Well, that girl, Shijima, is going to pay us just for inventing a flying toy so that's awesome. [Focus, Lemina.] Ellie... we can definitely try combining different spells for her. I won't ask you to teach her that since there's no reason to expose you to that. [A fiery tornado is the last thing he needs.] But she's a Baroness too so she'll be useful to keep happy. I still want to teach that Mr. Primitive guy how to magically enhance his weapons. Put him on the list too. And I can teach that one girl some private potection magic. I guess we should advertise that too but we don't focus on it much, so it's a lower key thing.
[She pauses from her rambling.] Are you and Loki okay. You seemed not okay talking to him.
no subject
I have an idea how to make them, too. I just might need your help to keep them airborne. [It's clear that he has something to prove to Shijima even as he writes her name on the list.] She's bored enough that if we keep her interested we might keep her for more than one lesson. James Barnes needs something to keep him busy, too. [He looks a little ashamed then, but he's not making it out to be a big deal.] I might be able to teach Ellie the basics but I don't think I can handle a whole tornado of flames. Sorry. [He frowns briefly before she mentions Eren.] I don't even know what kind of weapons he has but it's worth it if he's going to be out there helping protect Caer Scima. Teresa seems to be on the same wavelength as me with tech so I can help you with some ideas if you want. I've spoken to Katsa before...she's good to teach. And Thrall's a friend! So he's definitely good to teach, too. And, um, there's Wan. He offered to teach me to really control the fire magic but I don't know if I'm ready for that either, I guess? [A shrug.
...ah. She noticed that. He had a feeling she did but he just shrugs again, giving her a slightly alarmed look.]
What? No, we're fine! Loki's just...you know. Have you ever talked to him? Sometimes he's just...[There's literally no way out of this.] ...it's not a big deal. Loki just knows more than I meant to tell him, that's all.
no subject
[She's making her own notes as well as she thinks.] And Katsa and Thrall sound good. If Wan knows about fire, we'll want him on, too. He might know even more than that.
[As she edits her notes, she adds, almost casually.]
So Loki's getting into your head is what you're saying and reading you.
[When Hiro is already in a delicate shape, she doesn't want that.]
no subject
Wan told me he could use all four of the main elements but he was only talking about fire today. I'll see if I can convince him to come join us, but right now it looks like the teachers are just you and me.
[...sigh. He slumps, arms thrown over his knees and knees drawn up to his chest.] No, it's not like that. I mean it's not like he's breaking into my mind or anything like that, I just mean that I told him way too much. How do you think I got Baymax's arm to the Station? Loki asked and I kind of told him a lot about home and...he kinda gets it, I think. But you know. It's...[Awkward. It's awkward to share a lot of things and he knows Lemina gets it, too.]
He kinda knows some of the same things you know. He knows I'm trying to rebuild Baymax.
no subject
[She sets her pencil down and smiles to herself. She understands it. Hiro told him too much - probably everything from the sounds of it - and now Loki can use it to figure him out.]
I get it. So he's wondering where this fits in or what you're using it for? Something like that anyway. I know you have your own wants and desires. That's okay. After all, what would the Guild be if it didn't support each other's aims? We're a team.
no subject
[But Lemina's giving him her attention and he knows that means he has to stop trying to stall and explain.]
...probably. I think he's just trying to make sure I'm not pulled around in too many directions. We kinda had a really long talk about stuff. [Someone's more fond of the chaos god than he wants to admit.] I didn't tell him who Tadashi was, just that he was Baymax's creator. [It had been too hard to mention he was his brother at that point. He has a lot of his own wants and desires but how to explain them...]
What are yours then? Besides getting the Guild up and running.
no subject
I'll make sure you're not getting pulled into too much, don't worry. I want to rely on you and I do but we're working together on this, so you don't have to do anything alone.
[But he asks the million dollar question and Lemina laughs, a weaker sound than she wants to hear, and tucks her hair back.]
...I need to get stronger. My mother was kidnapped before I arrived. I have to save her but... I was too weak to do anything. Right now, I don't know how she is. There's nothing I can do except get the Guild running and train.
[And now Hiro can guess why she's so hard on herself.]
no subject
He's immediately shifting the topic though away from himself and back to a safe zone to talk about Lemina, and he just looks at her with wide eyes as he absorbs that one pretty significant fact.]
What? Why didn't you tell me that sooner? [It would have made things make a lot more sense, yes, but...he could have maybe said something to make her feel better. Or at least censored himself more. At least he knew the state of Tadashi and Baymax. He can't even begin to think about what it'd be like to not know answers to such an important question. He shakes his head.] We're going to train a lot. You and me, we're both going to get stronger and fix everything.
[And that settles it. He's even more determined now than ever to make sure this Guild succeeds. He just has to concentrate and put as much dedication in as possible to make sure it works.]
no subject
I thought if I told you, you might pity me or worry. It's my worry. Mother is all I have, so... if I can't get home, I just have to be strong enough to save her when I can. That means using the Guild to end this war and train.
[She nods at him.] And we're going to fix everything we can, that's right. So... I know what it's like to be lost. I'm pretty lost myself. That's why I know this Guild will be good for us! We can focus on fixing what's wrong and get things how they should be.
[Lemina isn't stupid. It won't bring back Tadashi and Hiro might run himself ragged first but he might need that right now, until he's ready to mourn properly, until he's ready to talk to someone, whether it's her or not, as long as he talks to someone, she'll be happy.
And until then...]
Don't forget, no matter what, I'm going to support you too! So don't worry about me. I'll save Mother. And we'll rebuild Baymax.
no subject
I think the Guild's going to do more than just fix things for us, too. You heard everybody...a lot of people have really good reasons to learn. We have to give them a chance to fix what's wrong in their worlds for themselves.
[He's going to run himself down until he breaks. He already subconsciously knows that but he's not comfortable enough with anyone to really open up about it. Even back home he never managed to get the words out. He only got as far as "Guys, I..." before GoGo hugged him and effectively shut him up. His friends understood, but he never really got a chance to explain before life moved on and Hiro moved on with it.]
Pretty big goals, but nothing we can't handle. [He grins, though he's still a little skeptical now about Baymax knowing what he knows.] But we should really figure out how we wanna run the Guild first before we start saving and building anybody.
no subject
[After all, who knows if he wants to hear her life story and all that. But if he asks anytime, she'll tell him. For now she focuses on the tasks at hand. He's right. The Guild means something to the people joining it.]
You've got a good point. Okay! [Lemina rubs her hands together.] You said earlier you're going to teach with me but how comfortable do you feel with that? Do you think you understand the principles behind fire? We can try getting you to work on another element too if you prefer but I think we need to start with the very basic thing.
[Lemina holds her hands together and a glow appears.]
This is magic. Can you do this? It's not fire. It's not anything. It's you Magic is power and concentration. You focus on what you want and bring it into being. This is super useful to know for non-elemental magic. For me, I envision a core of energy inside of me and manipulate the light of that core. But how you think is in technology terms. So why don't you try something like that and see if you can produce a light like this.
no subject
I mean I think I can at least explain the theory and how it works. The whole envisioning process and everything. [He pauses, shrugging then.] I want to start working with other elements but...I should get a grip on fire first, right? That doesn't mean I can't teach the others. It's all about theory and fundamentals, basic rules that don't change.
[He hones in on that glow though, eyes widening again as he tilts his head.] Raw magic. Nice. [Funny how that's a lot like activating their shard and neither of them know that.] I--okay. [Okay. Envisioning raw magic. Envisioning the glow.
He's almost glad Lemina can't see what he's thinking about, because he's thinking about a circuit board sitting in his chest and the flow of lights leaving the central hub and spreading out to send information to his hands. It's stupid, it's a stupid analogy but it's one that works because he understands the ins and outs so well. Without even realizing it he allowed his mind to trace the patterns and his hands started to glow with tiny little lines and fragments. It wasn't as bright as hers by any means, but it was progress. He felt the buzz in his palms and he looked down, holding his hands up for her to see.]
...like that?
no subject
She shakes that idea out of her head and claps instead.]
Got it! That's your raw talent. You can learn to bring more of it forth the more you practice. I cheated when I helped you call forth fire before. But I see why it was easy now for you anyway. What we need to do is move onto focusing on raw magic and using that instead. It'll be a little hard to turn that into fire or any other element but I believe in you. There's no way you won't get it.
Once you can, you'll be stronger for it. So whatever you visualized, keep enhancing it. Build a magic center within yourself. Improve it. That's what you do, right?
no subject
Whoa... [Way cool.] You mean with that boost, right? Do you think I could have made flames without it? [He's just sort of rotating his hands to draw out that power a little more.]
But if you want me to use that, sure. I upgrade everything back home. [Which is true. Look at Baymax.] So this is just like upgrading myself?
no subject
Yeah, think of it as upgrading yourself. Look at your fingertips and think of them as the key to everything.
[Lemina holds up her fingertips and coloured lights appear on them. Blue, yellow, red, green and gold.]
After all the thing magic needs most is confidence. If you believe you can do it, if you can see yourself doing it, you'll figure it out.
no subject
The key to everything. [He repeats, sounding a little skeptical even as he looks at his fingers. They don't exactly glow in different colors, but he wiggles them a bit to see if he can get that far.] It's basically all just visualization and making my raw magic do whatever I want it to do. Like molding it with clay. [Or hammering it out, or rewiring it or whatever other analogy he can think of.] Are there limits?
no subject
So in short, the only limit, I think, is you. What you can do, imagine and create. With the right tools, which I'll start teaching you those soon, you might just break some limits.
no subject
The only limit's your imagination, right? Sooo if we imagine breaking all kinds of boundaries in this place we're going to have an awesome set of magicians on our hands.
no subject
no subject
This was a great idea. You know that, right? ["No matter what Jason says."]
no subject
[As much as she doesn't want to let on how much it got to her, she promised - indirectly but still as a verbal agreement! - not to try to hide how she's feeling from Hiro. So she tucks back her hair, fingers twilring the strand slowly.]
I... I'm really glad you think so. Even among the Unseelie, people have different goals. We'll still have different goals but we'll be united in helping each other learn magic.
no subject
Don't listen to him. Jason's just...[Well. There's really no excusing Jason Todd as much as he'd like to so he settles it by rolling his eyes.] I can handle him, don't worry about what he says. Just think about how happy everybody else will be once we start teaching them and helping them reach their own goals.
no subject
Though she'd still want to.]
But you're right. It'll be great! I can't wait for our first big teaching session. Are you excited?
no subject
Uh, yes? When do you think we should actually start teaching though?
