1st Circuit - Text for Both Courts, Video-locked for Unseelie

[There's probably a better way to do this, but at least he can put out feelers and see what he's working with. Since the decimation of Caer Scima Hiro's been a little more than bitter toward the Seelie and while he doesn't want to have anything to do with any of them, he realizes that as a scientist he needs to gather as much information as possible.]

It's been a long month, hasn't it? I'm not used to any of this. Monsters? Destroying people's castles? It's weird. I was getting ready for class one day and the next I came here and then the fighting started. I think I'm going to fall really, really behind in my homework.

Makes me wonder…what do you miss most about home? I can't be the only one who really misses advanced tech (computers, video games, even the old stuff like VCRs would be okay at this point.) And I know, I know, the Station exists but it's not the same.

So, what about you guys?

[If he can figure out what people value? Maybe they can use that to their advantage, too.]

[Unseelie Locked]

[Now comes the hard part. With that out of the way the video function of the locket clicks on and it's obvious that the locket's hanging from something in front of Hiro. He's in a room at the Station, ever-recognizable blue hoodie hanging loosely on his frame but the sleeves pushed up to his elbows. More importantly than that? He looks a little nervous.]

…hi. My name is Hiro Hamada. I don't know most of you, but I hope you're listening anyway.

[He pauses and looks to the side, evidently looking at someone else who's in the room with him. Deep breath, Hiro.]

It's not a secret that we lost this battle pretty bad. That's a fact, but I think there's something we can do about it to help recover. I know there are other people that don't know how to really fight, or there are people who can only fight with weapons. What if we could do something more than that?

[Give him a second and he's holding up his hand. It looks as though he might completely freeze up but after a short moment a small fireball appears in the palm of his hand. He wants to put it out immediately, but he pauses long enough to at least look at the locket again.]

I couldn't do this when I first got here. [And the fireball vanishes.] Think about how much stronger we'd be as a court if everybody could wield a couple of spells. Even if it's not something you want to use for offense even picking up a few for defense is better than nothing. I know there're a lot of magic users here but…well, Lemina and I have been working on something pretty cool.

[He's going to lean forward and pick up what looks like a piece of paper with a class list and a list of elemental spells written on it to show the camera.]

The Guild's designed to not only teach people how to unlock their own magic ability but hone it and build up to becoming a better magician. We have a few ideas how to use it to help our side of this war. We're going to start classes soon for anybody who's even kinda curious. [A pause.] Look, I didn't even really believe in magic before I got here and knowing the little bit I learned saved me back there. It'd be really cool if you guys considered it and you can always ask Lemina or me if you have questions.

[Actually…he looks off screen toward where Lemina's sitting.] Maybe we should do that now?

[ooc: This is actually going to be open to both Seelie and Unseelie because of the mage university being started by Tzilan just outside of Redgate. Lemina's been putting up flyers around the Station and Hiro just doesn't realize it and has a very strong bias against the Seelie. You can check out more about said-Guild in the class link above, and you can sign up your character here. As an aside, Lemina will also be teaching classes at said-university on her own, but will be keeping the Guild as something separate. edit: also Lemina might pop into some threads as well!]

[She's lived with this secret for years, only having told Raine. Lloyd and Genis and the rest had no idea what the Final Seal meant for her. Giving up her heart and memories to completely leave behind her humanity. Luckily though, with text he can't see her expression fall, that worry and upset.]

It is. But it's worth it if it means I can help everyone.

Oh. Okay. If I see one around the Station I'll let you know! Then you can show me. It's pretty exciting, after even this long here I'm still learning new things about this place and its technology and magic.

[Pretty much. Seelie to the core here.]

No. I don't. Not when it works out in the end.

A fossil? That doesn't sound like what you said a video was. Or do you mean even that is kind of old for where you're from back home? I wouldn't mind learning! I'm sure Professor would be glad I'm still learning new things even here.

Oh. Pawn shops? But sure! That sounds fun. Ah, I mean Professor Sage. She's my teacher back home and came with me on my Journey. Raine and her younger brother, Genis

[Raine being the only one outside of Kratos that knew the real truth behind it.]

text;

[personal profile] oblivious_klutz 2015-03-01 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't know there were shops like that. At least, not that I saw back home. That sounds like a wonderful idea though! Robot parts?

Oh, well, she was supposed to be joining me on the Journey to help keep me safe. Along with the priests, before they were attacked. That's why my friends and Kratos came with me to help. But Raine did give us homework on the way. I think it was more she was interested in seeing the ruins though.

[Raine and her Ruin-Mania they had no clue about until they reached the first Seal of Fire.]

Well, we'd buy things. And sometimes trade, but trading wasn't usually really a formal thing. Someone would grow some of this crop and trade for that crop sort of thing, I guess? Though there have been inns and shops selling items or weapons or armor too. I've never heard of a battery before. I know gears are used for machines though.

Well, there were a few of us. It started with just me, Professor and Kratos. Then Lloyd and Genis followed us. Oh! Then we met Sheena. The ruins were where the Seals were. Some of them anyway. She likes studying them and wanted to see them in person.

[personal profile] oblivious_klutz 2015-03-01 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Probably best not to. Though she understands some people are just that desperate they need to resort to such measures for food and the like at times. Not so much for things like robots.]

We didn't have a lot back home like this but if robots are machines I think I sort of get the idea. Though our tech was behind and we couldn't use the more advanced magi-tech since the mana supply was declining. I think that was more the sort of thing they have in the other parallel world where Sheena was from. Where they had lots of mana.

It's not that many? We just kept making new friends.
[You know. After Sheena decided against assassinating Colette.] It was the Seals I had to get to. Though the ruins themselves were interesting too. That was more Raine's thing, really.

Yes. We thought she meant the moon at first, but Tethe'alla is parallel to Sylvarant, my world. It's like. She described it like an hourglass - one is always in decline from the lack of mana, while the other is in the reverse, prospering from their plentiful mana supply. The Journey is the process of the Chosen reversing that. And it was something of an adventure, considering I'd never been outside of Iselia, my hometown, before that.

text;

[personal profile] oblivious_klutz 2015-03-02 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yes. There is another Chosen at Tethe'alla. So that could happen. But right before I came here we were more focusing on how to help Sylvarant before we could consider dealing with that. It's pretty complicated. I'd say Lloyd or Emil could explain Tethe'alla and all that happened after my Journey much better than I could. But essentially, once I were to complete the Journey, the mana would flow back from Tethe'alla to Sylvarant so it's no longer in decline.

So you can see why Tethe'alla might not have approved.

[And thus sent the most hopeless assassin ever to take care of the problem. Colette's powers of friendship were too strong for Sheena to handle in the end, obviously.]

text;

[personal profile] oblivious_klutz 2015-03-02 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't expect that would be the first thing you'd say. But if you do talk to one or both of them, I'm sure they'd explain it better since they remember more than I do.

I never met him, no. Or, I mean, not that I recall. Apparently we head there after what I remember. Sheena is from there, from Tethe'alla, and she helps us get there. She's the one that told us about Tethe'alla and all.

[Just. Conveniently leaving out the reason Sheena was in Sylvarant in the first place. Yup. At least for now.]

text;

[personal profile] oblivious_klutz 2015-03-02 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose. I'm not sure how much they are telling others not from our world. A lot is probably strange to others when they hear about home, I guess. But you're a friend, so I'm sure they'd want to try help if you did ask.

I meet lots of new friends, apparently! When we go to Tethe'alla. Presea, Regal and their Chosen, Zelos. And Emil and Marta too, I guess, later on. But they're not my enemy.

[Because to Colette there aren't really any enemies. Everyone has their reasons for what they do. Even the Desians, even if she knows they must be stopped, along with the Grand Cardinals.]

text;

[personal profile] oblivious_klutz 2015-03-03 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Friendship hammers. Her not so secret power. But even so, she tilts her head at that, almost confused for a moment.]

Yes, I guess so. It's just amazing to think about so many things we all know and take for granted and others might have no idea. There's a lot we can learn from each other.

Why wouldn't I? I mean, I know its a war but that doesn't mean everyone wants to fight or kill us just for being on the other side of this when we're all in the same situation. Back home, I didn't have that many friends. So this and leaving Iselia is like a chance for me to try that. To just let people know me as Colette, here especially.

[She's probably not really the best at actually trying to explain, but she tries at least.]

text;

[personal profile] oblivious_klutz 2015-03-03 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well, some people might find it harder to learn in classes, like Lloyd but I guess you're right. Some people might not appreciate this so much.

Right! I will. And I have Lloyd, so I'm sure I'll be fine. I wouldn't want you or anyone else worrying about me.

[Because this totally implies that Hiro is actually concerned here. For some reason. But Colette can't help herself in trying to reassure him all the same.]

text;

[personal profile] oblivious_klutz 2015-03-03 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
Of course! Or, well, I try not to. Which doesn't mean he doesn't. Like I told you, things are a little complicated with timing back home and all.

[But she's trying. Appreciates how her now being here probably does worry Lloyd all the more all on its own without the added complications of her being pulled here so much sooner in comparison. But so far things haven't been so bad. Mostly. At least she hasn't yet tripped into any walls or buildings. Yet.]
