When I struggle with my guilt, it's 'cause I know I did it and I wonder if I did it for the wrong reasons. But I gotta remind myself that I thought it was the right thing, and if I hadn't done it, I wouldn't be here right now. Endure and survive, just like you said.

But I don't let myself stop there. I got harder so I could keep doing my job, but I told myself not to forget the people around me. Friend or foe, doesn't matter, they're still people. I can pull the trigger if I have to, but at the end of the day, I'm still gonna be a big ol' softie that treats life like it's precious. Every life.

And I had to teach that to myself. It's possible - but it ain't easy.
