[To those who know him or are observant, Elrond looks perhaps a little stressed (more so than he usually might). Otherwise he looks quite well, though the image is just of his face.]

Greetings to all, met and unmet alike. I am curious to hear how everyone has managed through the most recent upheavals.

Closed to Castmates

[This was where he looked more worn, though still healthy and only a little bruised. He still manages a smile and holds the locket out a bit further to show he's dressed (unfortunately) in Unseelie colors.]

I am well. Rest easier, my locket of communication has been returned and I will be leaving within two weeks if all goes as planned.

[And he fully expects arguments about this, but won't shy from them.]

You owe them nothing. What would you say were it I who had been captured and chose to remain among them? To teach them, our enemies?

I do not dismiss your words, for they are sound.

[He doesn't want her to doubt herself or think he doubts her.]

You should not even have to ask, to know my answer.

[He's never enjoyed arguing with her like this, but she has the right to not be happy with his decision.]

It remains my choice, beloved.

And yet I would heed you. [That's unfair and she knows it, a look of regret following immediately after the words.]

You have ever been the wiser of us two, Elrond. This is not wisdom. What can you hope to gain but to give them an advantage in war?

I know. Even would you not, I would then trust your judgement. [Elrond tries to soften his severe expression.]

Again, your words hold merit. If she were the sort to heal orcs, or other such foul creatures, I would indeed not still be here. This court does not hold only evil, beloved. There is good here.

Good that did not free you when Celegorm brought you among them. Consider that. If she is so eager to learn from you, why can she not come among the Seelie? We have not taken and held prisoner any of theirs as they have.

She trusts Celegorm. She did more than what any others of the camp would have, and placed herself at risk simply by tending my injuries.

I will ask, though I expect the answer will be no for she has made her home here. I will not take her from that home.

So you remain with them longer rather than return to friends and family who have worried and weeped for you since you disappeared? To help someone who trusts [like ice:] him?

[Weeped. He'd made her cry. Elrond brushes fingertips against the clear side of the locket, regret clear in his eyes.]

I hold no anger for him, beloved. Only sorrow, for all that has occurred.

[She doesn't return the gesture. She's on the verge of tears now, borne of anger and pain.]

I do! You did not hear him when I treated for your release! He made clear your life means little more to him than the ransom!

You have cause to despise him.

[He doesn't blame her for it. Not in the slightest. Though his tone might just be a little tired.]

The price of a life cannot be measured or truly traded. I am not as known to him as to others, and his reasons are equally sound for his actions, with what of him I know.

[She's angry and upset, she feels helpless and suddenly her bartering for his freedom feels completely worthless.

And she does despise Celegorm. There's no question of it. If she could strike him now, little would stop her from doing so. And she would hold nothing back. Even if it would wound her in doing so.]

That did not stop him from placing a price on yours.

What you do is madness. You give them more now than what was asked! [Has her fear of your death no value?

Tears falls now, angry and burning at her eyes.]

If what you offered him was something he's been seeking, then yes. I cannot fault him for that.

[He sighs quietly, hating those tears. Again. More tears, because of him.]

Do not fear for me, for I am safe enough while Celegorm continues to extend his protection - which he will.

I will come to you yet.

He did not know I had anything to pay with. He expected you to remain.

[They would go away if you weren't being stupid.]

In two weeks. During which time your only protection comes from Celegorm. Who the Unseelie have no true loyalty to. While I am left here to worry for you day in and out?

Are they more important than us Elrond?!

An expectation meted out through words alone. I will not break my word, Celebrían. Enough has been delt on each side. [Even with her tears, he's adamant on staying.]

I would like to see those who would fight him on this.

No. They are not. Beloved...I am sorry. My mind is set.

And so you make my treating, despite my anger against him and whom I would shed no tears for, pointless. [It's not a question.]

You do little to convince me of such. And you make me feel as though they have more import to you than I do. All you do now if hurt those of us who truly care about you.

[He takes a deep breath, hand rubbing over his face in a rare gesture of gathering himself. Taking a moment to work out a solution that would hurt her less.]

And if I ride, instead, to the Station? If she rides with me there to learn?

[That's... not entirely expected and she pauses in surprise.]

I would ride out to meet you. I have gold from the queen to buy a horse.

[It does not surprise him. If they hadn't already been arguing...]

I would ask you not to ride out alone.

[He might be somewhat protected against orcs, but Celebrían was not.]

And perhaps bring me some clothes, for I have only been given what is here at the Unseelie Court.

[If they hadn't been arguing, she would object to the request. It isn't unreasonable though.]

I will ask for someone to join me. And I will be sure to bring something for you. [Because ew. And maybe she'll have something tailored for him at the Wardrobe as a welcome back gift. Also passing as part of her apology.]

[Her acceptance is met with a smile, though still a bit strained. All things considered, with everything going on, he has a right to be stressed. They all do.]

Thank you.

[And with that settled, after a moment's silence, he seeks to shift the conversation to something lighter.]

Have you received a gift today?

[They really do all have reason to be.]

You are welcome and... I am sorry. [Because that needs said now. If it isn't, she'll berate herself for it until she sees him again. There's never a time that she enjoys being upset with Elrond.

His question brings a smile to her face and color to her cheeks. A good shift in subject.]

I did. I will wear it for you when we return. [It would run the risk of being ruined otherwise.]

As am I.

[Softly, but earnestly spoken.

The smile and flush earns a smile of his own. Good. This was how she deserves to look - happy.]

There is much to look forward to.

There is but all I want now is to see you again. That is all I need.

[It's all she'll need for awhile. To just be able to lean against him and feel his arms around her, know he's there and he's safe.]
