first jive ⚛ video ⚛ open to both courts
(For those who are online, if you will, the video feed of both courts will flicker on to the picture of a man who looks surprisingly calm all things considered. His hair is neatly combed back and parted, his clothing well put together, and there’s a borderline arrogant smile that plays at his lips. If it had taken him a half dozen times to get the locket to work correctly for him, it didn’t show on his face, but for him it was practically like magic.
It was technology that was still years away from where he was, he had only recently managed to install a telephone in his car (and promptly sold the idea for a handsome profit), but even it had been quite an ordeal, there were a dozen wires, it needed a long and thick antennae to work, and if you weren’t careful it could drain your battery in a heartbeat if you weren’t careful, but it was technology that he felt had promise. Adding the ability to view the person on the other end of the line was something he hadn’t even thought about trying, let alone making it so small and portable. Sure, he had managed to miniaturise a camera lens for a pen, but that was just for still photos. He was intrigued by it, though, a fascinating idea (one he wished he had been the one to come up with), and he didn’t hide his impression. He didn’t dare attempt to pop it open, however, lest he not be able to put it back together. While the imps had been kind to him thus far, he hadn't argued much when he'd been dragged away, he wasn’t sure how well they’d take to him breaking one of the gifts that he had been given.
For the time being he would leave it as it was, but eventually he might ask if someone knew just how they worked. Just for the sake of curiosity.)
So I take it this place doesn’t take too kindly to technology of any kind, huh? Even one as simple as a battery. (He raises his wrist to show the watch on his arm, it had stopped when he had arrived, and though it was currently useless, he couldn’t take it off. He was too used to wearing it and would feel naked without it.) Is there anywhere around here where they sell watches you wind? Or parts so I can convert this one?
(There’s a pause, he takes his hand down again and shrugs his shoulders lightly.)
Anyway. Good morning. My name is Howard Stark, and back home I was an inventor of sorts, so I’m not entirely sure why they’ve brought me here, unless it’s to update this place somehow. My company’s goal was to build a better and brighter tomorrow, and it looks like this place could use a bit of that. It’ll be like going back in time with what I have to work with, but I’m sure I can manage if that’s what’s wanted.
So, tell me a little bit about yourself, mysterious person on the other side of the magical locket. What makes you special?

Who’s in charge of your weapons division? Back home, right before I was brought here, we had a war that ended, and I worked in weapons on the winning side. I can’t imagine that’s a coincidence.

Weird, an honour, dreams coming true. I get a lot of reactions to meeting me. (snerk. But he's clearly amused by it.) It's always a pleasure to meet someone who admires my work.
[ video ]
Your work changed the whole world, man, let alone my country. It's an honor.
[ video ]
What's your country? (He sounds American, after all. But this place is kind of bizarre, and he could have said 'our country' if it was the USA. Maybe he's Canadian?) Thank you, son. ( Even though Sam is probably older than he is...) I'm glad my mark is being made.
[ video ]
but he can't exactly deny howard the truth. he doesn't have to know the whole of it right off the bat, but - ]
The good ol' US, just ... a little while after your time.
Just don't mention his kid.)
Well if that's the case. (He's beaming with pride a little, no lie.) I'm glad my name holds up.
[ video ]
More than holds up, Stark Industries is still running the market. Y'all gave me the wings I used to save a whole lot of lives in my time.
Yeah? Are there Stark Industries items in every household? (That was what he had wanted, after all. To be a household name across the board.
...and then.)
Wings?
You can fly?
(have u ever seen a grown man cry bc it may happen.)
It was always my dream to fly.
[ video ]
( go head and cry, friend, he's seen it a thousand times. ) ]
I could. The last pair got a little roughed up when I ran with Steve.
[ said with the slightest smirk; if anyone should know what kind of trouble steve gets into on an op, it's the guy that outfitted the howling commandos. god, this is weird. ]
But when I did, man. There's nothing like it.
[ video ]
(no he is too manly for that 8|||)
You know Steve? (But then there's a snort.) He always did break the gear I gave him and then slink back all sheepishly. Thank God his damn shield was near indestructible or I'd have been making a new one for him every week.
(But the teasing is quite fond, if a little sad around the edges. he missed Steve.
And then. Bless.)
I wanted to fly my whole life. I remember Lindbergh taking off for his first transatlantic journey like it was yesterday. I was ten, and my Father took me to see him take off. I'd wanted to fly planes for years, but that was when I knew that it was what I wanted to do more than anything else. The first time I was in an aeroplane was the greatest day of my life.
(:'))
Tell me about your wings. What were they like?
[ video ]
two people with their heads in the clouds, maybe in different ways but still as enthusiastic as ever. ]
I'm no engineer, but I was gonna be damned before anyone knew more about my wings than me, so lemme tell you all about the EXO-7 Falcon project.
[ said as though it's the very best thing in the world, and for sam, it absolutely was one of them. I'M TOO LAZY to research and actually write out the mechanics of it lmfao so let's just pretend sam goes into as much detail as he can from a basic standpoint, answering any questions howard might have about it as best he can without actually having the technical know-how to back it.
but none of that can explain what it's like, to have the wing at your back and the sky in front of you and absolutely nothing inbetween. after covering most if not all of the exo's mechanics, sam stops to blink a few times, a solemn smile on his lips, and then shake his head. ]
Wish I still had a pair to show you. Hell, I wish we had two so we could suit up and go for a joyride across fairyland. It'd be a first for the both of us.
