Video, open to both courts

[In the locket image, young Edgar can be seen standing between a beautiful pair of clegs. The larger one nudges his shoulder rather insistently.]

Easy there, Ravensong. It's all right.

[He looks back into the locket, trying not to look too sheepish. He is a baron, now, after all.]

So, it seems I've been given this wonderful pair. [The smaller one sniffs inquisitively at the hood of his cloak.] ...Duskwhisper, don't. [Back at the camera.] But they don't seem to be terribly fond of being ridden bareback. Would anyone be able to recommend where I might find saddles for them? I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

Good day, Edgar. [ Politely greeting him, she greets him only a day or so after meeting him. It seems the proper thing to do. ]

They're lovely. Clegs, are they? Ravensong and Duskwhisper are good names as well.

Most men only have one beast to mount, but you have two. Why is that?

[ Those were her thoughts exactly. Interesting, to be given a pair to breed and if she's fortunate, she can suck up just enough to acquire one herself. ]

Wasn't that generous of them? The token of your spire could be beasts at this rate.

I know nothing of saddles, but if they give you trouble, I know of individuals who can tame any beast to ride. They just might need the training more than anything else.

What of your own comfort? That should be what matters and I suspect for a gentleman that riding bareback is...

[ Yeah, why was he even trying to in the first place? ]

Do you think they would be happier with saddles? What if they aren't?

What if they just refuse to ride and prefer to breed as they were intended?

Saddle and tack came with my Arrow. Maybe you just haven't looked in the right place.

He's a bit of a hard mouth, but most castle ponies are too soft and lazy, anyway. The saddle slides a bit due to the movement of his wings, so I use a martingale and breastcollar to keep it steady in flight. Other than that, he's no different from any normal horse: holds his breath when i try to girth him and tries to keep his head up to avoid the bit until I smack him. He was already broke, and I was the one who had to adjust. He rides just fine.

I'd not risk trying to ride one bareback in flight, though. Is there a reason you were given two?

He's a horse, wings or no, and one more prone to wildness at that: he'll be stubborn and pull and try to bite if he's in a bad mood. A smack is no more than an irritation and a rebuke to him, and me like a fly. [ a snort. ] Firmness is not cruelty or a lack of kindness. Perhaps that's why no one can ride as fast as I can.

Do they form pairs like that, then? What do you intend to do with them in your care?

They are lovely, Edgar.

[ Maglor tips his head to look at them ]

Have you had much success in finding them tack?

You are always welcome to ask if you should need it, youngling.

Mm, you could always try the stables at castle. Or you might ask the imps, I suppose, although that is risky.

I can look around the station, if you like? There may be things here.

[ There and gone again, pain and memory flash across his eyes and Maglor nods, slowly ]

I ... have been in such positions yes. But my... history warns that my choices often go ill, Edgar. I do not know if you dare to trust to me.
