Earth's got metalbending and sometimes lavabending! Firebenders can bend lightning if they've got the right attitude for it- you usually need a permit or something for that, though? It's pretty dangerous. And waterbenders sometimes... pick up bloodbending, which is super illegal. It's also super horrifying and I wouldn't recommend having it done to you, so. Pretty glad it's not legal.

What of airbenders?

Oh, right! It's way too easy to forget about those guys. I don't know too much about them. But I'm pretty sure that last time I heard about something new airbending-wise, it was a guy learning to fly without a glider or anything to help him.

Are they more secretive than other benders? That is quite impressive, though.

Uhhhh. It's less that they're secretive and more that we only just started seeing them around the world again after almost two hundred years. Complicated history stuff.

... Does that not make them secretive...?

[ It hasn't quite dawned on him that they might have been killed, so. ]

... maybe a little? They took on acolytes and stuff, though, so they probably could have been more secretive. Airbenders have just mostly been dead for a while.

If they were dead, how did they return?

Oh, there was this Harmonic Convergence thing that caused some huge spiritual energy issues a few months back. I guess it maybe... sort of... woke airbending up in people? I was a little more into the "finding them and getting them to sign up to help save the culture" thing than the exact explanation side of it.

I suppose that would do it. Did it alter the bending of others, or awaken it in them?

It awakened it! [ Dude you sound like a professional asking educated questions. ] You get that kind of thing back home or something?

I do not tend to interfere much -- in my own world, at least. This one has... changed things.

Yes. It is... strange. But I do not see all things here, as I did in my world, and so it is necessary.

Well, just don't stress yourself out over it too much. You get used to the involvement thing after a while. I kinda like it better that way, personally. You know, it's more hands-on.

It is. And the people in this world are certainly more intriguing than most of those in my own.

Ooh, yep. It's really worth getting to know people while you're stuck here, you know? Otherwise you're just kinda floating around on your own. I mean, that can be pretty cool, too, but finding out about stuff from other people is easier than digging around in libraries and all.

That depends on what it is you're interested in learning. Most shardbearers here know little about the world or the war.

But I do like to hear of other worlds.
