{Boons are a thing of wonder. Aragorn is enjoying his first taste of magic, his grey eyes unfocused as he concentrates on the deep thrum of a spell activating. His body morphs seamlessly, which, understandably, causes him to inhale sharply.
But then it's done. He now looks through the eyes of a Sciathán Lion. Shaking his pale mane and stretching his feathered wings, he stands and lifts his chin to catch the scent of leaves, soil, living things on the air. Pale eyes aglow, he almost seems to smile.
This is a gift he will put to good use. His head dips and he slips the locket over his ears until it settles against his furry chest. There it stays as his feet pound against the ground, knocking up dirt and debris. Once he has sufficient speed, he opens his wings and lets the air catch against his feathers.
He has watched the Eagles fly - birds beyond counting too - yet nothing prepares him for the sensation of pure free flight. His feet still move, almost as if he is racing over the open air, and he roars his approval.
Back on the ground, there is a whinny of disapproval. A certain Unicorn is giving his master a skeptical look, head tilted to one side.
When will Men learn not to play with magic like it's a toy?
Aragorn makes one round in the sky, letting his wings become accustomed to flight before he lands quite near the Unicorn. Ehtyarion shakes his mane and paws at the dirt with his hoof. With an amused glimmer in his eyes, Aragorn nudges his friend gently and encourages him to follow him.
No one will be eaten today. Or any other day for that matter. He is not that sort of beast.}

OH YEAH?
Both. [ Maglor looks away ]
They did. But it should never had needed to be them at all.
YEAH
But it was them and there was a reason for it. {A legacy began that day - a good one.} Think of what Lord Elrond alone has accomplished.
OH YEAH?
A reason? [ Maglor's smile is bitter ] A reason that I drove their mother from the cliff edge and kidnapped her children?
I am glad that they grew up well. So very glad. But that emotion is stolen from those to whom it belongs.
/RAWRS
I do not speak of those actions. I speak of how you took them in and raised them. They knew naught of what had happened. {And even if they did...} Children, as resilient as they are, need love and protection.
/FISTICUFFS (I am neglecting all my other tags be proud)
They knew. [ A flash of fire ] We never lied to them. They knew they were ransom, they knew what we had done. Neither Maedhros nor I ever hid from them who we were nor what we had done. We never let them forget their parents.
/FLAILS WILDLY (For shame, but yeah I'm totally proud. Epic battle of cute going on here.)
{He wonders what it would be like...as a child...to bear such a burden. Yet all he has to do is look into Maglor's face to know why the children moved beyond their grief.}
They were perceptive.
totally
They were as they were trained to be. To be honest, and to seek truth, even when it hurt.
no subject
You do it a disservice to call it mere training. They kept their hearts and minds open even while in the midst of grief.
BABBINS
We did the best we could. I am glad their lessons did not go unlearnt.
Haha omg poor Elrond...
What they learned from you went on to help them raise their children.
no subject
[ A small fleeting smile ]
Yes. Elrond raised his children well, and I am sure Elros did also.
no subject
I am hopeful Arwen and I can continue the legacy of twins.
no subject
Hm! [ Quiet amusement at that ] Be careful what you wish for, Elrondion. Twins are... well. You will learn, if ever you have them.
no subject
I wish to learn much about loving them and raising them. {Perhaps his daughters are twins?} I was guarded by two of the best, Elrohir and Elladan.

Their mischief would be welcomed within the halls of Gondor. {Dull counsel meetings can use some laughter.}
damnit html fail
You say that now. [ Maglor shakes his head in memory ] We shall see if you think the same after they have covered the floor of your room in glasses of water.
It happens. When it does, it's not a subtle beast.
Why glasses of water? {Seems strange, though that's half the fun with children, isn't it?}
/flops
That, one day, you may ask your foster father, although Elrond swore to me that it was Elros' idea.
/hugs
Well he would, of course. Why take the blame when your mirror stands beside you?
SHRIEK THAT ART IS CHEATING
Elros, of course, blamed Elrond. [ Wry shrug ] So, of course, they shared their punishment.
IT TELLS THE TRUTH
I imagine the punishment was terrible and mighty. Did they fear you would go thirsty during the night?
CHEATING
It was certainly soul-crushingly boring, or so Elros claimed. I do not know - they never did give me an explanation.
IF CHEATERS NEVER PROSPER, HOW COME I'M PROSPERING?
Because it lacked so many glasses of water. {There has to be a good story behind that one.} Why is it that I am beginning to pity Lord Elros where his twin sons are concerned?
CRIES
Who knows? [ Maglor shrugs wryly, but there is a wistful fondness in his eyes ] I am sure Elrond thought back to those days when he had a pair of his own.
