[Nico makes a private call to Jason. As he's not sure anybody has told the guy where the son of Hades is or if he's even alive.]

Grace. I'm in my room at Caer Glaem. Shadow traveling my team out of Caer Scima took more out of me than I thought.

[Read: he's been unconscious.]

[Hello, Caer Glaem. Nico has been unconscious since getting most everyone out from Caer Scima (the 19th of May). He...kind of went into a dead faint. Now, he's awake! Not that he looks any better. Indeed, the teenager actually looks a bit sick and like he can use more sleep.

However, he is determined to at least make this post to the magical locket network. Then he can rest again.]

I've heard that I might not have gotten everyone out of Caer Scima. I want to apologize for that. It was...more draining than I thought it would be. I'm afraid I won't be able to help anyone get back for at least a couple weeks.

[And he does look sincerely apologetic, not to mention guilty, about it.]

Even then...it might just be faster to get here the old fashioned way than shadow travel, depending on how far people are from Caer Glaem.

[ it hasn't been pleasant being stuck with luke for three days, but she's managing. she's a little pissed that the fairies who came to ask them about their boons couldn't just magic them back to the castle, but whatever. at least she didn't punt the little shit back where he came from before she requested her father's chariot. she's not really expecting to get it, but, hey. who knows. ]

Don't look so depressed, di Angelo. [ except he always looks depressed. she figures that's just a natural son of hades expression. anyway. ] We can take care of ourselves. I've already requested alternative transportation.

[Thank the gods he can count on Clarisse to think of something incredibly useful to have. It's one less person to worry about. ...not that he's worried.]

What did you ask for?

[He's curious...in a morbid way.]

[ clarisse shrugs nonchalantly, like it should be obvious what she asked for. ]

[ at least she didn't try to ask for the css birmingham. there's also the fact that there's not any ocean anywhere near here, so that would be a waste of a boon. she could use a few dead confederates around, though. ]

[ at any other time, luke might actually respond with a don't worry, man. he's heard, first-hand, what shadow travel does to the poor kid. using an ability to the length nico had is exhausting — luke compares it to opening one hundred locks, one after the other. but considering his company and how tense, sore, and exhausted he is at the moment — and all he wants to do is crawl into his bed and perhaps die there, but there's no bed to be found, just cold, hard ground, and even more tension — it's safe to say luke's not in the best of moods. if he could sleep for a day, and perhaps not worry about clarisse's well-being or her taking off the moment his back is turned — or slipping her spear into his, as he knows she's still pissed at him — then maybe all would be fine. but nothing is ever fine, not when it comes to luke castellan. he hadn't even perked up, not even when the fairies had come and asked them of what he had desired as a reward for doing what he does best — stealing things. he'd been sarcastic and exhausted when he'd asked for the one thing that has plagued his mind for years, but he's never given voice to. ]

[ luke's not grinning, nor being his usual annoying self when he clicks away at his locket. ] See you in six months. If we don't get eaten by orcs or trolls or I don't kill myself because of La Rue. [ his mouth purses. ] ... Again.

[ he's not being fair and he knows it. but who else can he vent to? ]

[Nico is too tired to be angry, and almost too tired to be annoyed. Apparently, he has enough energy for the latter, though barely.]

I'm not leaving you two to die, though thank you for telling me that you're both stranded. I could make the journey in small jumps, but the problem would be finding the two of you.

[ ugh, the hero reeks in nico. where this kid should say sorry, but i'm closed for the summer, he acts like he's going to do something so utterly stupid, like use up all his energy in a bid to find them. ]

And possibly kill yourself in the process. [ even while being salty, luke is still a little compassionate. ] Didn't realise you were so eager to meet up with your dad, Di Angelo. [ as he knows he's potentially gone too far, what with his saltiness, he grits out. ] We're fine. I've got my shoes. [ that he's not game enough to use, let alone touch clarisse in a bid to see if they can take the weight of the dara, him and his baggage, and her with her anger. ]

[Nico tries to make the hero not reek so much. However, there are times in which it just decides to come out and punch someone in the face. This is one of those times.

The jab at meeting his father doesn't faze him. He sees his father more regularly than most demigods see their parent. Not that Nico is going to bring that up at all. He's in no mood to fight salt with salt.]

Try roosting in a tree if La Rue is getting to you so much. Do you know how far you are from The Station?

We're close. [ but not close enough, in his opinion. for a kid who likes to move quickly, their pace is too slow. he pushes himself too hard, expecting them to be beyond the station by now. an unrealistic expectation, but luke likes to aim high. ] Maybe a few days, if we're lucky to not get ambushed. [ touch wood. ]

[by the sudden, very insistent knocking on your door, it's probably very obvious that yeah, no one told him.]

[The son of Hades at full strength would be amused by this. As he is now, he has no energy for that and screw getting up to open the door.]

[if nico's not even gonna make a fuss about his private space being intruded upon or jason mother-henning or something, it's gotta be bad. the worry is clearly painted across jason's face when he steps inside, somehow still considerate enough to close the door gently behind him rather than just letting it slam shut.]

[he can't really be upset at the kid if that's the case.]

[Yeah, no, too much energy. Clifford is lying right across Nico's legs, which...also makes getting up a problem. The puppy looks over at Jason and wags his tail, but doesn't move from where he is.]

Yep. I had to transport over a dozen people from Caer Scima to the outpost we had set up a few miles away.

[his first instinct is to fuss and check his friend over for any leftover injuries and whatnot. but that almost feels like it'd be cheating, with nico as out of it as he is, so jason doesn't even attempt the brief bit of contact that might entail, knowing it'd likely just irritate the kid when he couldn't really do much about it.

instead, he settles for perching at the edge of nico's bed, reaching over to give the hellhound a gentle scratch behind the ear. at least nico's dog doesn't share his issues with touch and relationships.]

Wow. Good job, though. Not on the literally knocking yourself out part, of course, but. Y'know.

[Clifford enjoys it immensely. He gives Jason a doggy grin and his tail goes crazy. All Nico does is shake his head slightly at the pair of them.]

Still, I might have left some people behind. I wasn't able to make a third trip.

[And that annoys him the most. Nico isn't about to voice it to Jason, but he wonders if maybe it's a sign he's not yet ready for the trip to New York. Though, in fairness, it's a lot of people with consecutive trips, so most likely it isn't....]

[an uneasy look crosses his face there, no matter how much he tries to keep it cool, and his attention is suddenly pretty intensely on the dog. lucky clifford's getting plenty of pettings tonight, at least.]

...I haven't seen Clarisse or Luke at all.

[Nico's dark eyes train on the ceiling as he thinks.]

They should be fine....

[His tone isn't bursting with confidence. He knows full well that there's a likely chance of them killing each other, or at least Clarisse killing Luke. As for them being in enemy territory, Nico isn't quite so worried.]

Maybe if they can get to the Station, I can pick them up.

Let's cross that bridge when we get to it, okay? Don't even start thinking of shadow traveling again while you're still looking this dead.

[not that he's not worried about luke and clarisse being left along together for a prolonged period of time. that's a pretty constant blaring concern at the back of his mind, actually, now that he actually has a better idea of where they are. the temptation to just fly out himself and try to hunt them down is pretty strong, but he has too much sense to go charging off half-cocked, and he can't imagine leaving nico alone at the castle in this state, even with a guard dog and fairy servants.

so he just does what he's best at. focuses on the immediate situation, and pressed down all his other worries and concerns until they're more convenient to figure out.]

You did what you could, which was pretty amazing and all anyone can ask for. If it's any comfort, though, I can help bring back anyone else that needs it.

[Her lips turn downward in a show of concern.]

That'd be appreciated. I've been unconscious for a few days, and still not exactly up to full strength right now. I'll be alright with more rest.

A few days? [And he's still not quite a hundred percent, either. Flora can't say that she's not familiar with people being so affected, but that's still some time, no matter how you slice it.

That just makes the deed an even greater one. For a moment she frowns thoughtfully in concern before smiling lightly.]
